I live in NH we have the tallest mountain on the east coast with the highest winds ever rechorded on earth we walk up the mountin and skii down 1400 verticle drop Tuckermans Raviene . Always bring a Zippo hand warmer with extra fule . They made a road on the other side with a 880 Gradeall .

Your penmanship is ridiculously incredible! I couldn't do that if my life depended on it! Thanx for the video! My mom is going on 92 and her hands are always cold. So cold it's uncomfortable for her. So I'm looking into the different Zippo hand warmers (fuel and electric). Personally, I like this one and it lasts longer. Although, electric will be better for her. Again, Thank you for the informative VLog.

I bought the exact same Zippo hand warmers. They actually work well they are very warm. But I did find one major problem with them. The burner easily gets knocked off the base. And it doesn't hold very well. So I find myself having to continually light it. And then from all the movement the actual burner has stretched out now. And the copper piece underneath has fallen out on its own and once you lose that there goes your entire hand warmer. That copper piece is imperative to have. But when they do work I have absolutely no complaints they warm up my fingers beautifully and I live in cold Canada, where that northern wind that comes from the pole assists Santa.

I've had a couple of them. Great when waiting around for ducks. They will run on any naptha (coleman fuel, Ronson, etc.) And and alcohol. Best on Coleman. Have to watch that the felt doesnt get compressed - needs to touch the burner cap felt to wick fuel. Will not get hot enough to melt sandwich bag, which the way I put them out. I like to light them before I head out.

If your "drug scale" from the cheap battery vid is sensitive enough, maybe try weighing the catalyst cap-thing before and after your camping trip to see if there's a change in weight

Great test video. I just bought a pair of these but haven't used them yet. A question: does it have a smell the while it's burning from using lighter fluid as fuel?

Seems like 131 degrees is a bit hot? My water heater is set to 125 and it’s hotter than I can take for more than a few seconds.

It does get a bit warm but the little bag it's in makes it easier to hold and handle. Definitely not unbearable though. I will say after having used it in a tent on a 38F night, this thing kept my hands warm.

Crazy Canuck I didn’t say anything about being in the shower. I can’t wash my hands in 125 degree water. Most likely neither can you. He’s right tho. The little felt bag keeps the direct heat off the skin. As a matter of fact, the directions specifically state that you should not use the hand warmer without the protective bag, as there is a risk of skin burns.

All about trade-offs I guess. Liquid fuels are usually more energy dense than batteries....but you have to deal with liquid fuels. Batteries are easier no doubt.

Put another 20% of catalyst in it and you'll get more temperature out of it. There are videos that show you how to upgrade them with better catalyst, carbon felt top layers in the reservoir and a VM & P Naptha Quart will last you a long time for refills and is cheaper than the name brand fuels (Zippo, Ronsonal, etc).
@perry92964
@perry92964 11 ай бұрын
why would you need to do all that? its a pocket warmer and it will never be more then that i have 2 of them and never saw any need to ruin them.
@guitarlight3935
@guitarlight3935 3 жыл бұрын
Zippo hand warmers do not run on lighter fluid..in fact lighter fluid should NEVER touch the catalytic burner ot it will be ruined. ..but instead run on the "fumes of the lighter fluid" as it evaporates up from below and into the little burner head. As the fumes fill the catalytic burner material, a grey fuzzy stuff coated with a very light coating of platinum found it the head that pops off when filling.....the burner begins to glow like an ember when a match is put to it. The ember...which looks almost like the tip of a cigar in a dark room will then continues to glow with heat, as it consumes the fumes which constantly rise up from the bottom fuel holder which you fill. When all the fuel has evaporated, often 12 to 20 hours..the burner simply goes out. Your cars converter has heat from the engine flow over tiny platinum balls found in your card converter..this burns off engine odors. The hand warmer operates almost the same way.

@@TheEndHasBegun Zippo or Ronsonal lighter fluid, some people use VM&P Naptha (Home depot) or amazon. I've never used those. I stick with Zippo lighter fluid as it is said to be the best.

Prefer the Whitby hand warmer, you don't have to remove the cap to fill, dropping that went dark,, boat, water, leaves, sucks, has a rubber stopper with a flap opening you just instill the nozzle of the filler. Buy your own catalytic material when the original is sooted, fouled up, it wears out, by getting dirty, no need to buy whole new assembly.
