These are excellent videos and very helpful. On the other Axopar 28, you installed a 7500 BTU unit, but this one is a 12,000 unit. Was the other one found to be insufficient for some reason?

We always had requests for more cooling on the 28 so we ended up eliminating the option for the 7k and just make the 12k the standard option. The 7k can work but the 12k just works better.

The only thing confusing me is that if I convert 12,000BTU to watts I get 3,516 watts, which at 110 volts is 32 amps, which agrees with what you are saying here. But it would be 32 amps at 110v not 12v. At 12v it would be 293 amps which is huge. Does the btu rating really not correspond to watts as I have done?

Allen, When calculating the consumption of heat pumps, it cannot be calculated this way. I have this explanation from one of our dealers in a different video and believe that it sums this up pretty well. "if this were an electrical resistance heater, it would take 3.5KW of electricity to create 12k BTU of heat. However, I think your misunderstanding is that an air conditioner does not just eliminate heat. It moves it. In the case of these marine air conditioners, they are moving heat out of the room and into the seawater via a water cooled condenser. So on his 12v unit, he is using about 450 watts of power to move a nominal 12k btu/hr of heat out of the air in the room and into the water circuit. This heat is not being created, or eliminated. Only moved from one place to another."

How well does the heating function work on this system? Would you say it's still worth getting the Webasto diesel heater on the boat and then installing this system for the air conditioning?
@MabruPowerSystemsINC3 жыл бұрын
Heating function works very well, I will link a video of one of our dealers that tested our 7,000BTU in heat mode. Depending on how cold the water will be getting, the diesel heater may or may not be necessary. As this is a heat pump, The heating becomes less efficient as the water gets colder. We do not recommend using the heat function in water below 40 degrees. kzbin.info/www/bejne/oKa4mX-bmpKalas

@@MabruPowerSystemsINC Thank you for the info! It sounds like for true all year round use in weather from below freezing to high 90's the combination of the Webasto diesel heater with your system is preferred. From everything I've seen about the two systems it seems like they should not interfere with each other as your vents on the 28 Cabin with aft cabin option are in different locations than the Webasto heating vents but on the 37 model it is mentioned that a vent feeding the aft cabin is added with the Webasto diesel heater and that the heater is not available with air conditioning. Do you know if this vent is also added on the 28 Cabin when the aft cabin is added? Also, instead of using the Balmar monitoring and smartshunt could your AC battery monitoring be integrated into a Victron Cerbo GX based monitoring system instead? It would be really nice to be able to pull the data to the chart plotters via the network and keep tabs on the AC batteries, engine batteries, house battery, and aux battery all from the twin Simrad glass display that is now available on the 28 Cabin. Quick access monitoring on the dash could be handled by the GX Touch 50 display. Here's a link: kzbin.info/www/bejne/aajLln6XipeSp9k Thoughts?

How many charging amps are you getting out of each engine when running at over 3000 RPS? Are you also using the auxiliary charging leads of each engine to supplement the input of the DC to DC charger?
@MabruPowerSystemsINC3 жыл бұрын
We have not been out of the vessel on sea-trial so I cannot confirm those numbers but have seen about 25A per engine at 800RPM. The DC-DC charger that we utilize is a battery to battery charger that is connected to the house battery to supply the Lithium bank when the house is being charged by the engine alternators

What would the estimated cost be to install on an Axopar 37 cabin?
@MabruPowerSystemsINC Жыл бұрын
37xc has different packages available that range from 30,000 to 45,000 depending on options. AC for FWD cabin only starts around 18,000.

@@MabruPowerSystemsINC Thank you. In a worse case scenario, how long does it take to fully charge the battery system for the full option variant?
@MabruPowerSystemsINC Жыл бұрын
@@bobbyvaldez83 worst case scenario is 25 hrs with both units running (7DC and 12DC) or 12.5 hrs with just the 12DC running. If going with the larger single 17,000BTU option, its actually less time to charge (7.5 hrs) and makes no difference if ac is running or not. This is with a 100% depleted battery bank.

@@MabruPowerSystemsINC Thank you for this. What is the recommended drain level of the battery before charging to maximize battery life? What regular maintenance as would one have to do, as an owner?
@MabruPowerSystemsINC Жыл бұрын
@@bobbyvaldez83 the recommendation is to go down to 15%. If we do the installation and programming, the battery monitor will be set to show 15% as 0%. Regular maintenance is as you would need on a standard marine air conditionioner, making sure that return filter is clean, checking and cleaning the water intake strainer and once a year depending on use a descale to the seawater system is needed.

I do not understand what an AC install has to do with a fuel tank leak. Is there a problem with your air conditioner? Who have you been in contact with at Mabru?
