First of all I would love to see a real breakthrough on marine ac and I applaud your efforts. However, Isn't this much like the old 4-5k cruiseaires that fit into boat hatches? I still have 2 of those units that I no longer use. At least in terms of warm and cold air passing very close to each other as they exit and enter the boat? And that amp draw still seems high if best draw is 20amps. I dont know. I doubt I would prefer this to my current DIY setup of a Honda 2200i generator powering a 12k Webasto ac. All night long even in August this system keeps my Catalina 36 nice and cool in Charleston SC with the generator running in eco mode. Very quiet and vert economical.

Most advocate only discharging Lithium batteries to 20 percent. Two 125 amp hour batteries give you 250 amp hours, 80 percent is 200 amp hours. 29 amp consumption would yield only 6.9 hours. Correct? I believe you have over estimated your cooling system.

That's a far point but also keep in mind that as the unit cools the space down, it will also draw less power and in turn, run for longer. We have yet to have a customer complaint regarding our advertised runtimes but do appreciate you bringing this to our attention.

We are copying your install on a one year newer T-11. Same physical layout. I have two questions. With vents in the second stateroom and in the Head, should there also be either a return air path or at least a path for air to escape those two rooms and into the main room when the doors are closed? Second question is this. For the main room, both the vent and return are at the aft wall. It seems the vent would be better located as far forward as possible to encourage more air circulation within the room. Did you look at running the duct behind or below the electric panel to get it further into the cabin? Thanks in advance for the courtesy of your reply.

On new installations, we did away with the head vent as it was a complicated run and it was affecting the cooling capacity of the system as there was about a 20% loss that was caused by the addition of that vent. we did not find the need to cut a return between the aft sleeper and the fwd cabin as the air can pass though the door, even when closed. We looked at other duct configurations but settles with the vent up high that blows forward and have had the best results with that configuration. The link below is to a more recent installation. kzbin.info/www/bejne/bZDdoISZqbmFn7M

@@MabruPowerSystemsINC Thank you. My installer and I had already concluded the Head vent was not worthwhile. Eliminating that and moving the aft stateroom vent to the other end of the bed sure tidied up the ductwork.

a 110v unit, running though an inverter will draw about twice the power as our DC units. Sure, you can double up the bank but will also need twice the incoming charge to maintain the system running which can work in some applications with plenty of available power but is a problem on most installations.

Mabru is simply the best Marine Power & AC company in Florida, in our family experience for the last 3 years, we used the 12 volts Air conditioning system on our boat for close to 2,000 hs, that would have required 20+ services on the generator which translates to close to USD 15K in services of the genset. Mabru pays off itself. Being able to run the Air Conditioner, have the boat power up all AC outlets, Microwave, electric grill under a headache free system its the ideal (almost a MUST) for a weekender boat! in south florida! Have you considered doing a chiller unit so a hydronic system can be used instead of a single blower?
@MabruPowerSystemsINC
@MabruPowerSystemsINC 5 ай бұрын
The issue with chillers is that they are not very efficient in small scale. There are two pumps, that need to run whenever the system is on and the system needs to be able to handle the full load even if you only need to cool 1/10th of the area of the vessel. Variable capacity chillers exist but in line voltage. There is not a DC compressor available that is large enough to be feasible

THANKS NICK! Really persuasive. HOW ABOUT THE VARIABLE SPEED!? Would REALLY sell this if we could see the lower amperage when the speed is throttled down. REALLY an important sales feature. Will check back if you could even just note it here in the comments. All the best! Danny
@MabruPowerSystemsINC
@MabruPowerSystemsINC 6 ай бұрын
Danny, both our DC units and our new VI units are variable speed. Our DC units adjust speed based on the difference between set temp and room temp. The 115/230 VI units also adjust speed this way when in auto fan but we took it one step further and have different eco modes that limit compressor speed based on fan speed setting. The 7DC will draw about 18-20A at 12v when just maintaining temp (lowest compressor speed and low fan speed.) I hope that this answers your question

The spec sheet online shows 17A @ 230v www.frigomar.com/en/products/single-phase-chiller-unit-inverter-bldc/ unless you mean running it in eco mode which would not produce 70,000BTU. In addition, you are not counting the raw water pump and the circulation pump that need to be running which draw at least 3A each and the air handler(s) that are distributing the air.

@MabruPowerSystemsINC 3 ай бұрын
@@jamiehackney4420 This unit does not work for all customers but it can fit a wide rage of customer needs. I don't use my personal boat every day and have 120A of charge from my inverter so I can recharge my batteries much faster. Even waiting 11.5 hours would work for my application and many of our customers. To be fair though, you are accounting for 100% use of the battery where the calculations I had done were based on 85% discharge and we would use at least a 60A charger, not 40A so it would be just over 6.5hrs to recharge. Other customers use this unit when their engines are running so they have a very small (100ah) battery bank that acts as a buffer between the alternators and the engines. Most alternators today are at least 75A and most boats looking at these have at least (2) so the alternators have no issue keeping up with the unit draw. It's fair that some customers would prefer to have a generator to run everything and that's fair as well. There are plenty of products available in the market to fit those needs. We prefer the simplicity and reliability of the battery powered systems rather than dealing with the noise, maintenance, and dependability issues of modern generators.

Thanks Bill! Yes, this is the 17vfd and at full speed we consume about 20% less. The other difference is reduced temp fluctuations and no peak starting amps. We can run this unit with no issues at all off of a 2000w inverter. I had a hard time starting a 12k standard unit without a pump connected to a 2800w inverter for reference. This does not take into account the amperage difference when the unit is just maintaining a set temperature. I’ve seen as low as 300w draw on this one
