The shortest path to ground is always the best, and being that the entire chassis is ground.... For best performance you should have grounded it closer to where you mounted the accessory.

I guess I can always add a second fuse relay at the back. Easy addition.

IIRC, most automotive 12v accessory sockets are rated for 10A max...so I'm guessing even if you used thicker wire to it the socket itself would be the weak link as it'd still be rated at 10A. I hope your fridge/freezer doesn't need more than 10A...don't think it does, as these units probably use 5A or way less, but you can read the factory-label to be sure. -- BR

I must be the only Jeep owner that doesn't have a 12v plug in the back. I drive a 2016 Wrangler JKU Sport that doesn't have a power outlet. Weird.

2007 JKU owner and it's nowhere to be found except on dash for those still smoking Marlboros. SMH. I watched this in full length and was ready to order parts until I started reading comments. Guess I'll use my Jackery until I get the right info.

Merci! But just changing the amp fuse to a bigger size would have worked. This is what I did and my electric cooler is running fine

Don't do this. Putting in a bigger fuse just makes the wire the fuse.

What was the wire length you used from front to back of jeep?

I do not remember the length but I suggest you "dry measure" before cutting your wire. If I guess, I would say between 12 and 15 feet.

I’m trying to use my OEM outlet in the back but it doesn’t to work. And I can’t find the fuse for it or at least which one is the correct one.

On the flip side of your fusebox you should have the diagram of the fuses. Telling you which one it is. Could also be under the glove box or under the steering wheel area. Depending on the year and model.

Mine wasn't "hot" either. Fuse is good. It may have shorted out along the way to the battery. Best to just run a new power wire to rear.

Depending on the gauge of your wire. If the gauge is big enough it should work with the factory set up. I suggest to try it first.
