Also, there is a spare fuse storage slot in the top left of the fuse box, so stuck my 10 amp fuse there. Cranked up the Jeep, no lights and all seems well.

I'll just share my recent experience and let you decide for yourself. So 3 months ago I started my 2021 Gladiator with 38k miles on it, and got the message that the start stop was no longer working. Quick research told me it was probably the aux battery going/gone bad and that it would need to be changed soon or car would not be drivable. I pushed my luck and managed to get 3 more months out of it. I don't drive much or far and I don't use start/stop I really didn't care. Then one day the car wouldn't start. In fact when I hit the button all sorts of strange things began to happen. The wipers moved, there was a whine under in the engine bay and rapid clicks. The dash lights were on and dome but it would not start nor would it turn off it was locked in some electronic spasm. I disconnected the main positive and negative and still it wouldn't "die". Finally after researching I disconnected the aux body side negative that is attached near the main battery on the passenger inner fender/engine wall near the top. Finally the vehicle died. I reconnected aux first then main and the car did nothing. I ran jumper cables from another car to main and managed to start the vehicle which now had no start stop message. I bought an aftermarket aux battery had it installed at local shop and things were fine. No more message ever came back, car started like normal and drove normal. About a month later I started to notice odd things. The volts would stay at 14.1-5 but my headlights had a flicker to them. Occasionally the voltage would drop to 12.1-5 volts. Then the car started to be sluggish to start and I figured the main battery was dying as well. Made sense with car being 4 years old from what I've read that's the time the main would be going. Still it seemed fine and I put a jump box in the truck just in case. Then one day while across town when I went to start it again it just clicked. Used jump box and it fired right up as I took off the jump box there was a message on screen said to stop safely as vehicle would shut down soon. Volts read under 12. The steering was bad as the electric assist would cut out as I was turning the wheel. I managed to drive 3 blocks to a friend's place where the engine began to sputter and die as every light on the dash lit up. Towed to dealership, both batteries were bad, even the new one, and a fusible link was bad. Repairs made no other issues found 1528.54 dollars later. TL;DR If your aux battery is going out replace it or do the bypass asap. Don't wait. I remember old cars you could drive with a bad battery running off the alternator but these modern cars become a brick and can strand you anywhere.

My modified fender liners are a pain to remove, so it's nice to be able to skip that step and leave the battery in place. It will definitely save me some time and aggravation. Thanks for the excellent video!

Had this issue over the summer while playing in Colorado on top of a pass. I had installed a Auto Start/Stop Eliminator in the spring hoping that it would keep the aux battery from dying quickly, while i like the Eliminator because it remembers the last setting, the battery shots craps at the most in opportune time. Made it down the mountain, pulled the negative cable off the main battery to clear codes, then disconnected the Aux battery, pulled fuse 42, hooked up the main negative cable, restarted the jeep and no problems. Made it back home, pulled the aux battery by going through the passenger side wheel well instead of pulling the full fuse block, taped off both cables for the aux battery and dumped the battery. Still running off the smaller main battery, no issues, I will go with the lager battery when this battery shoots craps. I can't believe people spend the money on replacing that dang thing.

I did this and it seemed to work, no check engine light, but I still have the auto start repair warning.. even though the fuse is gone and ground removed.. ideas?

I don't have anything displayed.

So I did this and it didn't work for me. Whenever that wire that you unplugged is not attached to the other black wire I get no power whatever. Although weirdly there's a telephone button that looks like it was installed aftermarket which blinks a blue LED. it's the only thing that works.

That’s odd?

@@robmotiveplus Turns out it was my main battery that was dead. I have a new one coming this weekend. I dunno if I talked about my jump charger in previous comments but it was broken. I got this new NEXPOW charger. it's nuts. I jumped the Gladiator 6 times and it wasn't even down to 75%. Crazy powerful charger.

I've talked to a couple aftermarket shops and they really know what they're doing this guy is good a mechanic he said your alternator will not charge your battery when you do this if it's on there for the factory it's made to work like this now the Jeeps that don't have it for the factory it's a different kind of motor if you have this exhilar battery you are supposed to run it it is going to cause problems that's why I haven't done it everyone told me it will cause problems it's made to have it for a reason it's not just to start stop it runs other things it lets the alternator charge the battery

So far so good.

I read the same thing. "Other things" are yet to be identified. I think audio is one of them although I haven't had any issues with that.

The amount of amperage the alternator puts back to the battery is low because it's running all the other electronics which is its job starting is your battery/starters job. If you leave the lights on or drain your battery anyway shape or form you will have to put it on an actual charger the alternator will not ever recoupe what was lost and thats a good way to blow out an alternator and starter they all work together and when one goes its hard on the others also for those newer vehicles you have to have an AGM charger to match the batteries make up or else you will wreck your battery on the old style chargers (dont throw them away they are still great for other standard batteries better then the new chargers)

Hey rob I’m having the same problem with my gladiator dealer changed my small battery ok it was fixed only for a few days then it came back on then took it back to the dealer and now they charged me $75.00 just to turn off that light on the dash if you or someone knows how to turn off the light please let me know batteries are new thank you
@robmotiveplus10 ай бұрын
I assume it takes a device of some sort to turn it off.

Auto start will strip your ring gear on your flywheel. Very expensive fix..disabling will fix this problem.

@standingbear39 Weird? I’d still change the battery in your fob.

I’ve read that this can disable the REMOTE start feature. Anyone run into it? Cheaper than buying a bypass device Thx

Jeep obviously has this problem with all its auxiliary batteries push starts. I hate it! I've spent about $2,300 for something that's still a problem. I will ask my mechanic about disconnecting this feature.

Try the other ground cable instead since there are 2, depending on your model it may differ

Why do you have to pull the entire negative terminal off instead of just pulling the aux? About to do this and minds mechanically dumb lol

I tried this with my 2020 gladiator and it worked fine but now i lost my backup camera and my off-road pages. Also my infotainment center looks different. Anyone else experienced this or know how to fix it? Im hoping it comes back in a couple days maybe it downloads or something. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Same thing happened to me on my 21. Put every thing back to the way it was.Took a drive then did the bypass again and everything worked fine. Maybe the computer was adjusting to the changes? All I have is a red flash on dash when I start it then it goes away. Back up camera works fine.

So I did this on my 2020 JT, no light, disconnected the negative (the correct one) and pulled the ESS fuse. Drove for about 10 minutes and worked, many stops and engine kept running. The next day, somehow the Gladiator is stopping again at a full stop. I have to push the disable button for this to work. So somehow the jeep is now using the main battery for Auto stop/start. I am miffed...help anyone
