How are you the only person doing these quality reviews on rotary hammers, one of the most used tools in construction setting concrete anchors. Much appreciated, I will like every video of yours.

Thanks mate! And yeah that's partly why I'm doing it, cos nobody else was! I have my requirements for bolting rock climbs and I know they're different to what most users want, but I was still surprised that there was so little info out there about these awesome tools. And so far I've barely covered their hammering performance, or normal drilling . There's a lot more to be done

I bought the DCH 133 after watching your review. It's great. Thank you very much. I also bought a Black & Decker BCD900B-XJ for $85 without battery or charger. I used a battery adapter to be able to use a Dewalt battery with a Black and Decker drill. Its performance is very good for the price. Thanks for your review.

I stumbled upon this video to try to figure out which of these two would make the most sense for my usage case for hanging security cameras but occasionally needing to blast a massive half inch hole for ethernet cables. Thanks to your video, I have determined that I just need both of them... so I ordered them both!! Cheers!

Ive just bought the dch172 as my general small fixings drill (like 5.5mm masonry holes) as my main sds is the dch334 and its just a big heavy beast and complete overkill for small fixings. This dch172 is awesome for banging them in. Light and powerful.

Maravilha de depois de assistir a um comparativo aqui no Brasil entre a Makita Martelete rotativo 18V BRUSHLESS DHR171 1.2 Joule verso Martelete rotativo 12V BRUSHLESS HR166D 1.1 Joule. Lógico que a dhr171 levou a melhor , mas eu procurava algo um pouco mais forte que chega se no meio termo para minha necessidades. Eu tenho a DEWALT D25133K 800WATTS , MAS MUITO GRANDE E PESADA , para carregar e fazer pequenas tarefas . Acredito que tenha escolhida a maquina certa Martelete Perfurador e Rompedor, Dewalt, Modelo DCH172BB3. Grande abraço , deixei o joinha e mais um inscrito !

Keen eye! Although the 263 has featured in a few videos already, it hasn't had these exact tests. It's done granite and the older version of performance tests, but not with these 12mm bits and 32MPa concrete. But don't worry it'll be back

At the time they said they called it 20v Max in north America "to avoid confusion" I think it was to avoid confusion when NiCad 18v where still been sold so 20v was lithium and 18v was NiCad but not sure why they though the rest of the work would be fine. Although we occasionally seem them in the UK but I think it must be old or cheap stock places buy up, the factory is just down the road from me so that could be why. You're really making me want a DeWalt hammer now 🐝 fortunately I do have batteries already.

Yeah that's my understanding too, but it's a mystery why they don't use the name 20v max in all markets

@@BoltahDownunder yeah who knows, to be honest I would prefer everyone to use the nominal voltage of 10.8, 18, 36, etc rather than trying to make them sound like they are so home better because of there 1.2v - 4v diffrance 🤷‍♂️

It’s not just branded 20v max in the US. It’s branded 20v max in North and South America, Mexico, South Korea, Indonesia and Taiwan

Nearly cut my left hand up bad with the cut off tool earlier. Bit of kickback with a not recommended blade. Will save the detail for a vid of my own though :-) PS, figured out why you're not as popular as I expected, you basically only do hammer drills, ha ha. I hope hammer drill buyers find your videos though, as on this topic, they seem to be the best. Just not a broadly loved topic. Diversify? :-)

Then why are you not calling the 12v 10.3 volts because that is what it is under load just like the 20v is 18v under load

DeWALT used to label the series 10.8V, but changed with the upgrade to brushless across the range. Probably because Milwaukee already used 12V, there’d been no industry or regulatory pushback on them, so why the fuck not?

Yeah I'd always assumed there was some regulatory reason why they didn't use 20Vmax here, but now there are others called 20v and also Makita's XGT is actually 36V but called 40v max here so I guess not🤷‍♂️

@Boltah Downunder The truth is if you put a volt meter on its going to 20.7 volts there is a guy on KZbin that tested tools ran 19.8 volts and some tools that draw a lot current can go down to 16 volts and 18v is probably a average same goes with the 12v on a circular saw it probably drops down to 9v and some tools like a light might draw very little and be 11.7 volts
