We are totally off grid, I’ve never had success with wind turbines! We now have 12kw of solar including 3kw of the side of my workshop for the low winter sun…

I have found the solar to be brilliant in the summer and for the last 2 to 3 years the turbine has done well during the winter.

Did you find out what is broke with the old turbine???

I had a look inside, and the only thing that can go wrong is either the bearings or a short in the electrics, so it must have been an issue with the bearings being worn out. The new one I put up is now at a point where I can feel a little bit of vibration down the pole, so I will replace the bearings this year. It has been up a while now and been through some big storms. One learning I have found is to also loctite the nut on because the wind can catch it the wrong way and spin it the other way and unwind the nut. Overall, I am very happy with it.

It's very similar to the one I have taken down, and they do a good job. I do get some extremely strong wind where I am based.

I will strip the old one down, I think the bearings may need replacing. I will video it and post it on here when I do it.
