When I was a boy there was a guy in my home town that was a hot rodder he’d been a pilot in Korea was kinda famous but he was also a bit of a recuse and he’d let us kids sit watch him work… he had a 57 all stripped down no bumpers, hood, interior, he had a roll cage built just around the driver and a airplane seat with a 5 point harness. ! the front was lifted and the back dropped it had a 409 with Crome valve covers! That thing was so f’ing cool! Oh dickie ain’t gone >>>old hot rodders never die they just keep movin’ on!!

I liked Dickie from the first time he appeared on yours and Mike's videos. His warmth and honesty left the impression of an absolute trustworty man. He liked all wheels and I'm at a loss of hearing his demise. If his spirit could, he would comfort his wife and family then try to forgive himself for his messed up ride.

The man had a collection of all collections, I’m glad you are able to keep some of them alive, I’m glad some of his treasures are being taken care of! My dad had a 57 in high school around 1966 I’ve always wanted to find him one but they are just out of my reach financially, he (as story told) had a 327 out of a vette, he swapped in, 4,11 gears and 4 speed him and my grandfather put in, unfortunately a drunk driver hit it outside his house and totaled it while he was in Vietnam. One day I hope I can get him another, dickie was only 4 years older than my dad, to live that long and be taken by a fool driving drunk….
