Love the information on the LCL sub. Would love to see some video and information on the businesses served back in the O'Bannon Wye.

Thanks James. I'll try and make it down to the O'Bannon wye. I'm not too familiar with the area, so if you know any times when it's typically busy that would be great. Have a good day.

Great video! I appreciate your editing and great narration. La Grange is my favorite Virtual Railfan camera (after Fairport-I live about 30 mins from there)

Locos have a distance counter, what ever they call it. The engineer starts the counter at a certain point, and can see when the last car passes that point.

Thanks for the video, the information about the drone is interesting. I don't have one but always like the view.

Thank you very much. The drone really puts things into perspective. And it certainly helps, to get some new views of places.

I actually saw this train in Glencoe, from the glencoe siding. Pretty awesome train. We have had pretty much a regular in the evenings for the autorack. One of which exceeded 15k feet.
@nkyrailfan4 жыл бұрын
15k feet? Wow! I will have to stop down there again sometime soon and hopefully catch another one.

@ 10mph and a length of 13,555ft it would take some 15 minutes to clear any railroad crossing during the street running of the autocar train in La Grange. Thats a long time waiting ....

we have distance counters in feet on the control stand. They dont always work so that when you have to know your territory.

Another great video NKY Railfan. It looks like you operated the drone either from the crest of Outlook Loop walkway overpass, or from KY-3078. Forgot the street name. It's the short road running parallel to the overpass and dead ends at track side. The only other ground location for good filming is on the Crittenden Dr Connector. You can get to it either by way of the I-264 westbound or from Outlook Loop. Crittenden Dr Connector includes a broad shoulder for parking right at the crest. From the height of the overpass, you can view A and N Yards and the north leg of the Texas Wye (aka SW Tower). On the right day with a high zoom lens, you can catch an inbound from LH&StL swinging off the wye, where it crosses over Main 1 and 2 onto A Yard. Once the EOT passes the switch point, it then backs into its A Yard track.

Sorry it took so long to get back to you, the notification just popped up. It was the dead end street that runs parallel to the overpass. I had to triple check everything because of how close I was to the airport. I plan on going back when spring comes and will definitely check out the Crittenden Dr Connector. Feel free to let me know any other good spots in the Louisville area. I'm from Cincinnati, so I'm not too familiar with Louisville.

How long after the signal goes green can you expect a train? I live near a CSX line outside of Rochester NY and notice the signals but not sure when to expect a train.
@nkyrailfan Жыл бұрын
I wish there was a time I could give you. I've sat looking at a green signal for more than an hour and nothing ever came by. While other times it's only about 15 minutes from the time the signal changed.

Do you have a link for the drone restrictions and get access to fly as I haven't seen that before?
@nkyrailfan2 жыл бұрын
Hello, Here is a link to the FAA's website which goes over the basic guidelines and restrictions. There are more based on individual circumstances and conditions for where you are trying to fly. www.faa.gov/uas/ There is also a great training program that my day job company used called Remote Pilot 101. It was great and very easy and detailed. remotepilot101.com/ Hope this helps. Have a great day!

Yeah, I agree. I don't see how that gets implemented without causing a great deal of (foreseeable) problems.
