I had a 1975 Super Beetle special edition called a "SunBug". It came with a crank open sunroof, champaign metallic paint, faux wood trim on the dash, two toned upholstery of chocolate brown and peanut butter tan. Loved that car.

I learn to drive a stick shift in a beetle and I remember the emergency brake was up and every time I got to takeoff it would die and then finally realize that the emergency brake was out in the middle is the first time I’ve seen emergency break in the middle of seats before. Yep that’s been quite a while back considering I’m 63.

Bill, I love this car! My brother, RIP, was a huge VW fan and had a "68 Bettle with the Automatic Shift Stick. Our neighbors, had a basic Beetle, which may have been a 79 as it was the same yellow. But it was the stripper model with the real basic interior and black exterior trim. My brother taught me how to tell the difference between a regular Bettle and a Super Bettle. I bet many of your viewers probably don't know that there are major differences. Do you know what they are? I'd be happy to tell you! Also, love your reference to Stevie Wonder! My brother used a similar reference saying Helen Kelller.

@@christianbugatticg Super Beetles came out for 1971. They are slightly longer and wider, but it's hard to tell that just from looking at it. For 71 and 72, the Super Beetle has the same flat windshield, but the windshield became curved for 73. If you open the trunk, you'll see the Super Beetle had the spare hidden under the floor panel. The regular Beetle had the spare mounted vertically in the trunk area. The Super Beetle also has louvers under the front bumper, plus the bottom part of the front hood is wider. For 71 and 72, the Super Beetle had the regular flat dashboard, but for 73, it had a more modern larger dashboard.

Herbie rides again. There is no mistaking that air cooled engine note. Air-con is a very rare option on these, the heater was never that great. If you want a low milage mint example this is a very rare chance. Best of luck with the bidding Bill.
