beautiful, one caveat, my neighbor planted tress at the end of her property between us, can't see their yard from the first floor of my house and no windows there on the second floor so not sure why. The trees have now completely shaded my yard, no longer able to grow much in my garden and as they grow they are slowly creeping further and further into my yard. Check with your neighbors to make sure what you are doing to improve your property isn't damaging theirs.

Seen somebody put up a privacy fence. New neighbor demolishes the quaint little ranch or cape next door. Erects a giant plastic and particle board eyesore (house) 3 floors high, looking down into the other guy's yard. Good fences no longer make for good neighbors. Acreage makes for better neighbors. Or better yet, no friggin' neighbors.

So behind supply stores like Home Depo they have those big medal container trash cans, well you can find a lot of great things in them that are mostly in good condition. Things we’ve gotten we’re 4x 4 and larger up to 16ft, pallets, plants, brick, particleboard, corkboard, cement, basically everything they consider unsellable (totally a great find). So go check out what’s in their trash bins. You may not be able to afford it so go and hustle it.

Wish I had your ideas years ago! My neighbors kitchen windows look straight into my living room and there is a 3 foot tall (worthless) concrete wall between our properties. Unfortunately, there are a couple magnificent old tea trees I couldn't bear to remove. So I planted a row of pittosporum, Australian rosemary underneath themto block some of the nuisance. They are just starting to grow tall 4 years later. A fence or screen would have been helpful during those years. However, the property line is covered by the block wall with concrete about 2 feet underground, so it was challenging to build a structure there. Looking forward to seeing more videos about creative solutions from you!

I just read some comments on the lack of affordability pertaining to the things done in this video. I am not rich by an means, but I transformed my backyard, ( which wasn't even my own land behind my house ) doing it piece by piece and section by section for the last 5 years or so. I too, used to lament the cost of building materials but..... if you're not lazy and check craig's list and go to the local re-use facilities that sell material taken from demo'ed buildings, or drive around the neighborhood on big trash pick-up days etc. etc. than you can do it. Seriously! Aside from the hot tub, (which I would like but truly can't afford either) I have everything from bamboo, to an eight foot wide stone fireplace, pergolas, ground level decks, fountains etc. all made 60 steps minimum from the garage up to the area I made. I lost count of how many bags of gravel that I packed up there. It. can be done!

Attaches to 6ft chain link fence with zip ties thru grommets. 100% privacy and cheap. And it looks nice.

I adore privacy. It makes your yard an actual extension of your home. I do not want to see the neighbours at all and I’m not apologizing for it. It’s unfortunate that neighbourhood developments are practically shaved of every form of tree. I’ve always wished it was standard to have even just a little strip of natural forest between each house. Good for oxygen from trees, trees for birds. It would increase enjoyment of our homes AND enjoyment of our neighbours. Or not. 🤣

Some older neighborhoods here in Charlotte have trees at the bottom end of people's yards. One house I just looked had huge 8 story pines in the back. Raintree, Wessex, Providence Plantation all have homes like that. New developments though are completely bulldozed of any plants even though they don't have to

How is the stice property fireplace safe? The top chimney vent is below the rear house and very close being a fire hazard.and the Gilbert property blocking what appeared windows from a building seem like a law suite since it not only blocks their view into the next property but also the natural sunlight over time... very nice but some were over kill, And others questionable like the two already mentioned but thanks for sharing.
@BackyardDesignGuy4 жыл бұрын
These are both self venting fireplaces so both are totally fine. Not sure what you are talking about with Gilbert but I appreciate your comments.

@@BackyardDesignGuy well, it's gorgeous, but it's just that it looks like a room, outside, where half the wall is missing. If there was a horrible storm that was blowing things around in every direction, I could see electronics in there getting wet, furniture and decorations getting tossed around and soaked etc. is there a hidden door that can seal it up during a storm?

@gazsto95104 жыл бұрын
@@ejohnson3131 haha got you all up an nasty. I am a carpenter myself and build stuff like this all day long. I was sympathising with the people who can't afford this kind of work and our workshop has a special budget and discount scheme where we build and install children's themed sets from swings to outdoor playhouses. I know the real world thank you and been around long enough to know the difference in what people pay for and for what people need. Screens are very antisocial, maybe you could be friendly for once and you might enjoy some neighbourly company, like we used to do many moons ago. Too many shutting out the world and we wonder why so many are isolated and alone at a time like this. I thought this virus may of changed people's attitudes about community and supporting each other and not shutting each other out. Thanks for the comment though, maybe you might consider living on an island like the rest of the unappreciated and ignorant minority that don't seem to comprehend where all in this together.
