I do an oil chance & filter change every 5000 miles on both our Audi's, just about to do one on the TT! Then use the ODB2 to reset the service for another 5000......easy...I use Redex on the pair of Audi's & the Diesel Transit!....Weekly checks?...coolant level, tyre pressures, oil level, power steering level, lights, wheel nuts, it only takes 30 mins......When you replace the spark plus make sure you use copper grease on the threads of new ones!!!! I do rotate the wheels but I really don't see the point! If you front ones wear out quicker than the rears, just replace the front, the rears will catch up & then replace them! Great vid for people who are too lazy to do these checks...you know who you are...All the best...

Forget going to dealership for maintenance. Find a good, reliable local shop.

Some of these tips are legit and need to be done. Several of them are BS like not putting additives in your car. I have put Chevron fuel injector in many cars with very good results. Techron is so effective at cleaning fuel injectors that I use it every few months and I've never had injectors plug on my personal vehicle. This is also attributed to my performing regular maintenance done according to driving conditions.

Unless you’re taking the engine apart to check, you can’t prove it’s the additive you’re adding doing the job or the additives in the gas as he stated. Placebo effect.

I do regular oil changes on all my vehicles. If possible, do them YOURSELF. That way you know what is going in your engine. I don’t trust shops to put in what they say they will. I remember a mechanic told my dad years ago that the boss at his shop orders one type of barrel of oil and sells it to customers as conventional AND synthetic. My old 2003 Chevy S10 was flawless for the duration I owned it. Bought new in 2004, sold it in 2017 when my daughter came along and I needed to trade up. I did regular oil changes and drove it everywhere. Got to 180k miles without so much as a hiccup. I still miss it at times.

You can use Phoenix Test strips to check integrity of coolant and brake fluid.
@robertmaybeth3434Ай бұрын
Sure you can do that, but the fluids should get changed periodically anyway, tests or no tests. Change coolant every two years and brake fluid at every brake job. Needless to say there is no "lifetime coolant", and not changing your coolant might eventually help cause a leak in the head gasket.

Well, In injection cleaners etc decarbonize your rings and cylinders and that IS a fact. Usually doing it 3 tank fulls in a row dors the trick. Don't waste money on any batterys other than Interstate or AC Delco. That is unless you want to be buying a new battery every 2 yrs. AC has 2, 3, and 5 year batteries. And especially avoid Optima Batteries they routinely die on the day of expiration. Frankly batteries went to crap after 2000. My Toyota was 3 yrs old when I bought my truck and lasted another 14 YEARS! Also, buy only washable air filters by the 3rd washing it will have paid for the extra cost. Note:real world tests show Mobile One is the Best Oil Filter going followed by Fram. Don't forget to change the Oil in your rear end its not that long and friction additives that work well like Lucas, and several others extend the differential life. If you drive a truck or certain SUV's consider a Snorkel they make engines run better and ilters last longer and you aren't required to go fiving just because you have one. And unless you see evidence of something more that piston knock first consider and additive for water removal just another one of those reason for as with some older cars you can develop Cancer of the gas tank and trash your fuel injection system and the are NOT cheap to repair. In fact if you have the time and can easily get to your G Tank buy a recommended liquid Tank sealant that will harden and bond to your steel tank. Yes, you'll have to drain and clean same, but the question is how much is that injection system going to cost including labor versus New Car Payments?

Check tyre pressure psi on the tyre itself especially if they are not original all mine are 50 not 36 and you can check the age of it by looking for a 4 digit number of them example (12/24) 12 will be the week in the year and the 24 would be the year
@robertwillett412214 күн бұрын
The worst wear on your engine is the cold start. Do you get up in the morning and start your car, and here a tick or rattle. Then it warms up and goes away. That was from lack of lubrication in the upper cylinder heads. Which cause most of your wear, if you change all your fluids in time. Have you ever noticed that when you get a new oil change, it doesn't rattle for maybe a week. Then it starts again. I don't believe in additives either except for Lucas oil treatment. Add one quart to your oil change, and it keeps the upper cylinder heads and valves, timing chain, etc. lubricated. It's a simple test. Try it, and your rattles on cold starts disappear by 90%. I've used it on cars that hit 300,000 miles without any oil related problems. And Lucas is the only one I found that works all the way to your next oil change. For me, that 3,000 mile with synthetic. I know people will comment and say that's way too soon. It all depends. If you rev. you engine at or near the red line. That burns the viscosity right out of the oil. What fun is driving a car without some high revs? Believe me, oil change is the most important, and Lucas is the only additives that I will use. The thin Lucas. If you pure that thick molasses type additives, you are just clogging all the small oil ports up. Unless you have an old classic car. Don't take my word for it. It's a very simple test.

Some codes need a manufacturer specific code reader; such as ABS or airbag codes.
@petervelinov8563Ай бұрын
Partially correct, some good advice and some not. A lot of advice is not 100% correct as well. For example, reading your check engine light most likely will not tell you what is wrong with your car but will give information that requires diagnosis before you know what the problem is. Example number two, adding a Lucas transmission fix to my older CR-V stopped the chattering for couple of years. So don't believe everything you hear in this video. I have 30+ years of experience in the automotive industry and hate to see videos like this that are particularly correct and may give you a wrong ideas.

I don't know about some of the info here. Fuel injector cleaner is something I've used for a long time. Didn't know that it's useless according to this video. Huh?
@Richard_L_Y3 күн бұрын
Nope, fuel additives can and do really help, whether for detergent cleaning, lubricity, anti-corrosion, or more power / MPG; oil additives however generally just merely dilute the oil, unless it's cheap crap oil and/or it's way past oil change time... even with good quality oil... a high quality correct for the vehicle synthetic already has all the additives it needs, but still needs regular changing... much more so if cold starts and used for short distances, not another additive...

There is no such a thing as low or high quality gasoline in U.S! it's the federal law that only one kind gas to be made by refineries so chevron trucks and arco trucks and shell trucks all get their gas from same place,the only difference is additives they add so one brand might clean better,but quality of gas are all the same
@BrielleTruthTalks29 күн бұрын
Actually California is the only state where there is. California has a law we get certain gas that is filtered more than others. It’s basically a way to charge gas higher prices like $4.89 right now Jan 2025 and this is low compared to $6.10 last year!!

Some of this advise is just opinion from the writter and some is read direct from owner manuals, not all is true some is common knowledge for people born in the 80s or before. Some of these things shouldnt be done by people who do not know what they are doing. If your car is under 100000km oil changes only need to happen around the 10k mark over 100k do it at 5k. KZbin has decided to put up plenty of car vids on my feed it must want my opinion on them so here we are. So its here. Be careful what you choose to take as good advise especially when talking about a 1+ton weapon
