Indeed, I went at least 5 months without ever seeing any deck playing Cry of the Carnarium but when I played Azorius Flyers and can ensure my board stays after boardwipes due to Sephara I ecounter 5 decks in a row on the same day that ran Cry of the Carnarium.

@@Galahand87 No. I fundamentally despise monored and counter decks so I never play them. Unranked is where I play new decks and jank, but I get paired up against monored and tier 1 decks a lot so it is basically like playing ranked. The only difference is there are some older decks and jank that I get paired with in unranked every 3rd or 4th matchup. I honestly dont see see many mirror matches with my decks because I try to use obscure or original decks that are still competitive.

UW Control player here. I like the game, the meta isn't great for the deck but it's been worse. I have fun playing, I kind of lose regularly to Temur Clover, also the match-up with simic ramp is tough, but that's ok, I try to keep the games as healthy and polite as possible. But with Mono Red. Holy crap, do I turn into a toxic 12 year old when I play against mono red. When I get the upper hand while having answers to Embercleaves and shit like that, I start spamming GGs, "Nice"'s to my own plays, and I drag the game until I see them scoop. I'm sorry guys, I know I'm bad. I just can't resist.

The Algorithm only rigs your minimum amount of land and does nothing to protect against flooding. Even without a 40+ Land Deck you see flooding out way, way more frequently than in paper, even with decks that run only 20 lands.

With a 13 land deck, statistically, I think it would take you about three turns to have a really solid chance of getting one. Seeing 1 in your opener is not too unlikely, but the majority of your openers shouldn't see any lands. Seeing three or more in the first five turns would take quite a few games. Something to investigate in paper magic.

You should do the maths for real. 13 lands out of 60 cards from which you draw 7. Do it, you'll see there's still a really decent chance to get at least 1 land in your opener. Factor in that this chance is basically doubled, too: at the beginning, the shuffler will actually pull 2 opening hands from your deck, then it'll ''lean into'' offering you the hand it thinks suits your deck in terms of ratio 'average cost VS total amount of lands'. Suits? Not always though. Not only the shuffler is rigged, but the ''leaning angle'' will vary, depending if the game thinks it's your turn to have an easy win or a steamroll loss. Assuming you have infinite wildcards, building a deck with 70% winrate in a given meta at a given time isn't hard. And anyway you do need a 67-ish% winrate if you wanna rank up at least past gold.(you need to win 2 out of 3 games minimum on average) But the game will absolutely set you up for a loss at some point. Mana screw/flood, perfect anti matchup, opponent drawing lucky, you name it. This is because it will try to enforce a 50% winrate. Supposedly in order to be ''fairer'' so it'll attract more players and so the newbies don't get sad for losing against veterans who play better and have more powerful cards. Nothing personal. It's just business. Paper Magic has different flaws, like 'drop rates' of certain rares/mythics cards that are so powerful they can take the game by themselves, and they won't be distributed 'normally' in packs so basically they are making most powerful cards harder to find than they should be.(see 'booster mapping') It's all rigged for business purposes. Nothing really new. As long as we can still have fun we'll be more or less ok with this. Just the fact that some decks work better in Arena than in real life should tell you something's fishy.

13 is the magic number! Minimal lands you can run... the algorithm states you get 2 lands 80% of the time on initial draw! Yes this is still a thing! I use only 13 lands in my nyxbloom deck and it works perfect

Some people like building decks, some people just like playing good cards, some people do both. I, for one, dont wanna spend the few wildcards and experiment around to come up with sub-par strategies that wont make for interesting games in the long run. Also, Temur Adventures is super fun by nature of the wishboard. Lots of decision-making involved and piloting that deck isnt as easy as it looks. You should try it.

@@kenjashow My goal isnt to play in mythic rank. My goal is to have fun matches. And in magic, my definition of fun entails playing with strong cards against strong cards. And what's with the Good Will Hunting routine, I do deck build. I did it in closed Beta, I did it during open beta. But now I dont because I dont have the time or the desire to spend so much disposable income on Arena. It's great that you have more fun with homebrewing, but it seems like because I have a different approach to magic, I have less fun than you, or the wrong kind of fun. Which is a dumb attitude tbh. Netdecking isnt just fine, it's a really neat way to make magic fun without having to spend too many resources into the game.

Dear CGB. Really enjoying your vids. I agree on the whole mono-Red absurdity thing. Seems to me to be a way to keep less engaged players more engaged, but at the cost of deeper gameplay. You can tell if you are going first/second immediately when the game starts when you look bottom right corner (auto resolve all button). If it is orange it is your turn and hence you go first... otherwise its blue

For any: Scheming symmetry Wishclaw talisman But both allow your opponent to look for a card of their own. You could combine Wishclaw with Karn, the great creator (passive ability). Then the opponent is unable to activate the Wishclaw on their turn (as it switches between players upon activation). But only until you lose Karn. So protect Karn or use Artefact removal...

Come on guys, at this point anyone with a brain knows MTGA is a cash grab. Rigged, far from the reality and beauty of paper Magic. The shuffler is broken, proven already a year ago. There is specific algorithm to make you lose if you get many wins in a row but also to make you win after losing many games. Why? So that you keep playing. Higher likelihood that you spend money. How? Manipulating land drops is the easiest way, since the player cannot control it. In the end healthy nerves sounds better than giving some money. It is just a grind with minimal skill.
