The Coronet 440 resonated with Police Departments. That was the targeted market. I wish I'd not traded in the 1960 Falcon Ranchero for a pristine looking Peugeot Diesel. The Ranchero was a six cylinder. It might well still run if you took care of it. The Peugeot had a cracked head. Since thats common for Peugeot diesels I sold it for $30. The Ranchero was actually very practical and economical and easy to work on. Girls didn't mind riding in it and said it was cute. You carry pieces of furniture in it. You don't tow skiboats with it. One of my better rides . . . The Ranchero not the Peugeot . . . Not the Diesel anyway.
@RayMainBagpiper2 ай бұрын
Hokay, bag on the Ranchero 50 times with the same sentence and we get the point. (dump the AI). The 140 and 177 straight 6 engines were adequate for the job and got impressive fuel mileage for the time. Easy to fix good fuel economy and reliable dependability along with being inexpensive to fix and a multitude of parts interchange ability without breaking the bank. I would say the Ranchero's were probably one of the most unsung hero's of their time.

Why do you trash the Lark without comparing it to it's small car competitors of it's day. You also ignore the fact that a V8 Lark could turn out a 0 to 60 mph time of around 10 seconds, which was on par with much larger cars sold by it's competitors. By comparison, the Ford Falcon, Mercury Comet, Chevrolet Corvair and Plymouth Valiant) which arrived on the scene in 1960, only the Valiant could break the 20-second mark from 0-60 mph. None of the Big Three compacts offered a V8.

Sorry, YOU LOSE! My stepmother LOVED her base Barracuda - she got the look AND her economy, best of both worlds that MANY WANTED at the price they could afford... they knew what they were getting! How can you dismiss "base" models so easily? They allow poorer people to enter markets THEY WANTED and would otherwise be priced out of. I liked every car on this list and owned several. I also LOVED riding in my grandfather's 1961 Caddy "62", it felt like floating on a cloud.

I had a 59 Plymouth Fury with the 318 2 barrel. In the mid sixties, I did a few little mods to it to get a little more response. I replaced the pistons with ForgeTrue pistons and the cam with a 57 Sport Fury 318 cam which was the most radical I could find. Oh, and the pistons required that I bore the engine out to 334 cubic inch. And I did mill the heads a little so that it wound up with 14 to 1 compression ratio. Oh, and I did replace the intake manifold with a 57 Fury dual quad which meant I had to put two Carter AFB Daytona Specials on it. When the temperature was cold, I had to use two batteries, in series for 24 volts, to crank that beast but with its 3 speed Torqueflite push button transmission, it would leave the 389 GTOs in the rear view mirror.

If you are going to do a video about the worse cars of the 1960s, DO NOT show photos of cars that have been customized with different wheels, engines and accessories that were not available from the dealer in the 1960s! AND please do some research so you don't insult the intelligence of people who grew up knowing these cars first hand. Most of these cars were financial successes and bought by a huge number of people. The Ranchero for instance was the same size as the millions of compact trucks from Japan that copied it! The segment on the 1964 mercury montclair keeps describing it as a "mid-sized" car. It was a full-sized car that competed in the "mid-priced" market. There were many other errors as well. Again you don’t know your cars the red Pontiac is a Pontiac Catalina not a tempest cause we were a Pontiac dealer at this time and I drove a Catalina in tourquoise just like the red convertible you called a Tempest which is a Pontiac Catalina with probably a 389 cid engine just like I ordered in my Catalina and was fast a lightning too . I owned a tempest too and it looked nothing like the red Catalina you says was a Lemans. . being a dealers son , I have owned just about one of every car you tell bull about Back then you did not have to take a small engine . My father ordered nearly every car with larger engines nothing in basic but I never was able to put more than 3000 miles then it was sold for a demo and I got another . The only one I put 7000 miles on was a Bonneville with a 421 cid engine with two 4 barrel Rochester carbs and nothing could out run it since my family also still to this day own a drag strip here in Birmingham Alabama. I been into racing all my life and sponsored many winners of Talladega and Daytona In NASCAR .

I’d be perfectly happy with a Barracuda with a slant 6. This wasn’t meant to be a muscle car. It was a fun cheap car like a base Mustang. In fact, the only problematic car in this video is the Pontiac Tempest

A bit repetitive 😅 this vid could of easily been 20 min.

And it still would've been too long. How long does it take to say every car of the sixties sucked?

It's written by a computer: "artificial intelligence", aka: "A-I". All these videos are moronic, stupid, repetitive and pointless.

It is " lamonze" not "lemans"! Why do you say in one sentence Lemans and not Lemans. It's pronounced "lamonze".
