Where is the editor? The 1963 Marauder faced competition from lighter cars like the GTO? Completely ignored NASCAR racing? This is the problem with history being rewritten by computers and dimwits....

The 1966& 1967 tornado was a outstanding vehicle! It handled like a dream handling corners almost a well as my 63 Corvette! You just had to learn the difference in a front drive compared to rear wheel drive car, The Vette may have been faster but the tornado was a more stable platform. Both car were not great on gas as the tornado only got 14 mpg. The Vette getting only 10 mpg if you were lucky. I sold the Vette after finding that I enjoyed the tornado much more so the Vette sat a lot more. The tornado was very reliable. Just my 2 cents worth,!

Yes, but it was rear wheel drive, right. Beautiful car, fast and comfortable with all the bells and whistles. GM ruled this segment, as well as others. I think GM stylists were far advanced compared to the others and the quality was far better than the rest IMO.

Even the original mustang came with small motors and continued to do so. People wanted daily drivers mostly,not muscle cars.Take the kids to school,go for groceries,drive to work daily. Most of these cars are collector worthy today and as the cars pictured are highly customizable. Car manufacturers always have base models.Darts, mustangs, Chevelles,etc. If they didn't, people would not be able to restore so many "muscle cars" today. Many grocery getters and mid class cruisers were manufactured and sold to the masses. Few could afford a top end car for daily life. The mustang excelled in this class for example as it was affordable for the small block for example. And the straight 6 was a reliable, affordable motor.

@@pathorn4671 what did they have in it... something like the 283 right? Configured by somebody who knew how, those Mustangs were light enough that those ponies were really all you needed to have some fun. Not 427 fun, but with the convertible as a bonus, fun enough..

This is the most ignorant report on these incredible cars that I have ever watched. My grandfather bought a white 1966 toronado and it was by far the most powerful great car to drive unbelievable strength controllability it is at still my favorite car from the 60s. At least one half of these cars that you're reporting on are collector items that people wish they could have including the Mercury Marauder. The Studebaker that you showed - they had a special order engine you can put in those that's still beats cars that are muscle cars from the 60s. You really don't know what you're talking about

The Toronado was my favorite car of the sixties with the possible exception of some Shelby and GT Mustangs. But overall, I’d probably go with the Toronado. It was like your own personal jet. So fast and so comfortable as well as being the most beautiful car from the sixties IMO. Traveling across the Southwest deserts at 110-120 mph was easy and quiet. In those days in the lonely stretches people drove like that. That was the perfect car for that. Not that I advocate excessive speed.

I dont undetstand why you are comparing these base models of these autos. Its like a Biscayne is the plane jane of the Impalas. Some people had reasons or just preferred the base models. Some people liked the styling of a car but could not afford the highest end of that vehicle so they would get a base model. We bought a Chevrolet Camaro in 1970 for my sisters 16th birthday. It looked good but it only had I think the weakest engine and the most basic styling of the Camaro. But it was still a looker and my dad didnt want my sister driving a dangerous car which in his eyes were the most powerful muscle but he wanted my sister to have a good looking car. So, he got her a csmaro but it wasnt the fastest by any means.

@mca56rpa

This video is total bs! Not everyone was trying to reinvent the Corvette or the Mustang. This narration was repeating itself over and over and ovef and over. I spent time in several of these cars. I agree the 61 Lincoln was poorly executed, andbprone to electrical failures. The Caddy was far better. You criticized the Toronado heavily. That was probably the greatest car of the sixties if you wanted a cruiser that was powerful and comfortable. I used to travel in it as a passenger in the sixties. I lived in El Paso. We would go for ski trips in other states and it was like a personal jet. You could fly across the desert at well over 100mph and it was supremely comfortable. The front wheel drive gave good traction in the snow when other cars had to put on chains. With chains it was unstoppable and you cojld actually steer it unlike many rwd cars of the time. The Torino you hated wasn’t as cool as a Mustang, Cougar, , or Camero/Firebird, but it was still a cool car, and some were quite fast. I preferred the GM mid-sized cars when well-equipped. Pontiac and Olds were my usual faves but Chevy was probably the best bang for your buck, and usually reliable. Buicks tended to be fast luxo boats. The. Wildcat was awesome. The GSX was their 12 second grocery getter when you ordered it right. Although my favorite cars of the sixties were usually GM’s, the Mustang was a great car and some were quite fast. Everyone remembers the Charger and Challenger as well as the ‘Cuda with the 426 Hemi or the 440. The Hemi’s were very hard to beat. I loved the cars of the sixties, and that was the greatest decade for American cars. I have driven German cars for the last few decades, and they are great, but I don’t love them like I did the sixties American cars.

This site is basically comprised of a compilation of trade magazine reviews written in its day. Granted, it's inundated with some opinions which we may agree with and others which we don't. The AI offering presented in this narration is plagued with mispronunciations which shouldn't come as any great surprise to anyone. The video here is basically presented like a Wiki presentation with no heart and soul surrounding the vehicles being showcased. Anyone who owned any of these cars has a reason to be offended. Still I found the video entertaining.
