The major reason people can’t visit the Lascaux Caves is because people going in side were inadvertently causing damage to the paintings in the cave

@Eytaris3 жыл бұрын
the paintings are so old that artificial lighting and flashes from photo cameras are damaging the pictures, the buildings made to accommodate visitors damaged the natural equilibrium that preserved the caves and the simple exhaled breathing of the visitors facilitated the proliferation of bacteria and fungi contaminating the murals, to this day, scientists and engineers are working tirelessly to discover a long-term solution to preserve the site, the site is closed off the public since 1963 and scientists are limited to 200 hours of presence per year, including for the manual cleaning of the fungi mycelium strands on the murals.
@thegreatjedi3093 жыл бұрын
@@jengleheimerschmitt7941 I watched another video covering these caves a few months ago. The caves were opened to public at one point, true, but the main reason it was closed wasn't due to vandalism or littering etc. It was the very fact that humans are in the caves at all: The air grew more humid from the water vapours we exhale, and that was causing moulds to take root and threaten the prehistoric paint. So the French government sealed off the caves to the public, built a knock-off elsewhere, and opened that up to the public instead.
@wjm1542 жыл бұрын

Qin Shi Huang's tomb was written to have multiple rivers of mercury that were supposed to pool around his coffin. Not too long ago they sampled the soil around his tomb and found high levels of mercury in the earth so it's pointing to be true. I think the coolest description of his tomb is how they supposedly built an entire recreation of what imperial china looked like while he was alive with rivers (of mercury of course), trees, townspeople, and all. I bet it looks splendid (ya know...besides the dead concubines and court officials that might be in there)

A note on the Lascaux Caves- the French government has actually recreated an exact replica of the caves a short distance away, so tourists can ‘tour the caves’ without damaging the paintings. This was done because of the overwhelming public pressure to tour the caves. The real caves were open for a short while to the public, but because they hadn’t been exposed to air completely for thousands of years, being sealed off in the cave, the moisture in our breath was causing issues with the pigments used by the artists. Also, camera flashes were seriously messing with the pigments, causing them to fade alarmingly quickly. Think ‘no flash photography’ on the Mona Lisa- same reason. It’s amazing what you retain from high school and your acceptance based advanced art courses.

Funtastic fact! The golden lancehead viper’s venom has evolved in the isolation of “snake island” and is able to potentially ground birds which render them helpless to the snake. (Side note) the Venomous Snake also DOES NOT attack and release like other venomous snakes. It latches it’s mouth onto its prey until it consumes said prey!

I've actually been to Club 33. My best friend's mother knew a member who invited her to bring her family, which I was pretty much a part of, having spent a lot of time at their house. It was about 30 years ago, so I don't remember too much about it. The plus is that I actually do get to make the statement that I had lunch at Club 33.

My sister in laws grandfather in law is a member of Disney's Club 33. Most of what they said in this video was true except for the "dining with Walt Disney's cryogenically stored head", lol. Members can extend invitations to friends and family but there's a lot of restrictions on how often and invitations must be approved ahead of time. This time you haven't done proper research going to Sentinel Island is also banned because people there are supposed to not have immunity to even common diseases like Cold and Measles. So to protect them from contracting any outside disease also is one reason.
@DiReplay3 жыл бұрын
That doesn't make what they said incorrect. This video is aimed at places the average person can't go. And the reason the average Joe can't go to the island is because they will literally be killed on sight.
@krambone2 жыл бұрын
He did do the research. You just added on a particular point that really doesn't matter. The main reason to not go to the island is because of imminent injury/death not the natives immune system

I've eaten in Club 33. A friend of a friend who is a member got us in. It was a life dream to go there. We got very lucky to have the opportunity. It was amazing. Literally, the Sentinelese could be utterly annihilated at a moment's notice, yet won't be because we live in a caring and understanding world. If this was a different time, they would all be murdered and wiped out in weeks. The world is an interesting place. Society evolves... yet they don't... so they get to live. It's odd.

@@masao2922 lol. Home Remodeling 101 is a mandatory class for the royal family. I'll bet that this is why paper and bamboo doors are so common in Japan - because the emperor hated carrying heavy stuff into the shrine to reconstruct it. And then everyone else caught on and the rest is history.
