I bought an A8 D3 in 2018. The car is a 2004 model year. It is not FSI. The engine is a 4.2 V8. Kilometers 277 thousand. What I want to say is that the car has worked very well. During the 5 years, a new power steering pump has been installed. Webasto water pump is new. The piston ring and a new cylinder etc. were renewed for the air suspension compressor, the cost ONLY €60. The car does not consume any oil. The air suspension works flawlessly. Brakes work well. Webasto works (original). Air conditioning works. Everything works. Amazingly reliable. The timing belt and parts were replaced a year ago.

Still runs like the day I bought her, no lag no loss of boost pressure or anything just a good car so far. My gripes are in the interior alone. The cup holders are small and fit cans well but nothing more than a medium soft drink will fit correctly, also the a/c controls hang over the cup holders adding to the frustration of trying to fit anything large in. There’s also no ash tray in the vehicle, I’ve stolen one out of my old focus and use that now lol. The A pillar is huge as well and will be blinding when trying to merge. And the tires, I’ve noticed it eats rear tires like candy so watch for that and rotate them every 5-10k miles. My suggestions so far

I had a B8 S4 that suffered water pump failure within 3,000 miles and the DCT started misbehaving around 40,000. Still, I liked the S4 and was able to trade it in for a fair price at around 60,000 before the DCT became too obvious a fault. Our B9 S4 has been absolutely reliable for 60,000 miles so far with zero unscheduled maintenance. The ZF is a bit less fun than the DCT, but the trade off for reliability was totally worth it for me. I do a lot of highway driving and the S4 has a lifetime average of 30 mpg. The new RS3 is tempting but the B9 S4 interior quality is so much better that it’s hard to give up.

2012 Audi A6 3.0T (supercharged) myself. Besides replacing all 8 control arms and a transmission valve as maintenance was the only repair that was out of the ordinary. Now hitting the 120000 miles mark. What maintenance is recommended to check at this mileage just to be sure besides the interval? You mention the transmission need to be serviced. The transmission fluid for example. I keep asking Audi but they tell me I don’t need to and I’m not sure that it’s done at the 60000 miles interval since I got the car at 63000 miles. That’s the only fluid I’m not sure it’s been regularly serviced. What do you recommend still move forward with a flush or is it already too far gone for a potential slip to start occurring? I always keep my cars till the 200-250 miles mark. I’ve had an A6 in Holland before with close to 390000 on the odometer. Maybe anyone an idea or advice? Thanks!

@@carswithsonduren I got lucky with the low miles on a 2014. I've been doing liquid moly oil changes every 3-5k miles and just had the transmission completely flushed and serviced. It's at 56k currently

Wouldn’t be able to help you diagnose this Matt without actually seeing the car. Maybe you can connect with the shop?

Would you recommend any A7 or A8? I really like the A8 but dont know which engine is more reliable

I have a 2012 a7 and I love it. Bought it at 70k-miles and I’m itching 100k. Only problems I’ve had is clogged fuel injector due to carbon buildup which is common with the 3.0t. And harmonic balancer replacement.

I'm confused. He recommends a 3.0T engine but everywhere I read it had major flaws leading to engine failure and 35k price tag to fix (excessive oil consumption, excessive heat)

I have a 3.0T and its bulletproof. I’ve owned 7 Audis and its one of the best.

Great video. What would you or Bill recommend between a 2014 Audi S5 3.0 premium plus manual transmission vs 2011 -13 bmw M3 coupe manual. I’m stuck on which to choose.

Personally like the sound and power delivery of the Audi. I would also argue the interior of the Audi is a higher quality, and I personally like the looks better but that’s purely my view.
