The character with the most development throughout the whole series was Justin. Just to think that a person like Justin turned his life around, became apart of Clays family, found the love of his life (Jessica), tried his best to get clean, and got accepted into college. He became the opposite of what he thought he deserved, but unfortunately the past does come back to haunt you... the worst part is his mom dies not too long ago. Justin will definitely be missed 😭🤧

When he learned of his 'mom' dying I was glad she did because of the hell she put him through. And I had thought, 'now Justin is finally free to be with a 'real family' that loves him for who he was'. But then he collapses at the prom and I thought, "not Justin. He had changed his life so much since seasons 1 &2. He deserves to be happy." But I also really liked seeing Monty and Bryce throughout the whole season. And then we find out how Monty died since his 'ghost' told Clay how it happened. The whole season was great and I liked the closer of it. Especially of Jessica telling Bryce she wasn't going to let him have control over her fear anymore when the whole group was burying the tapes where Clay first heard his tape in season 1.

I feel that Dylan Minnette as Clay and Brandon Flynn as Justin were the two key factors to making this a strong season. They both showed so much raw emotion throughout these last 10 episodes. I think they both have bright futures in acting, and they’d both be great picks for Robin in Matt Reeves’s Batman movie.

The acting was spot on. Especially Clay's mom, Sheriff Garcia and Alex's father were amazig. The whole drug test scene and Clay's mom responding with: If it's gonna be like this! Was just so good! My mom would have responded the same way. It was real. Justin was such a tragedy. So sad... I cried buckets. This season was a great finale...

the moment when Justin hit the floor at the prom I knew I was wrong guessing Clay was the one to die in this season. Mostly throughout I thought Justin was getting better and even have a bright future ahead so it came as a big shock. Although it's a tragic ending for Justin but I think it was super sweet that during his last time there were many friends and Jensens family around him. If it weren't the Jensens Justin would likely have been dead so earlier on and I appreciate so much how Clay's parents gave him the love and support that he deserved.

I hate the slander saying they should’ve ended the show at season one, but when a tragic suicide happens, it doesn’t just end there, there’s an aftermath and this show did it justice and despite lackluster dialogue writing, you really care about the characters because of the good acting and I was happy with this ending and last season and the show as a whole

After getting justice for Hannah there is not much more for clays character & Hannah only died because that's how the book was written when they could of went with the alternate ending but then there whole show was to lead up to the shock value scene instead of going with the book version of her taking pills only to edit the scene out because they think people are copycating suicide if people are killing themselves it has nothing to do with the show

Tbh season two was a must bc it showed different stories. Season 3 was straight up boring and a mess. Season 4 was okay but if they didnt make such an emotional ending that season wouldnt be good as well

Killing off Justin was so unfare. I cried like 90 minutes, i knew something terrible was coming but I would not be sorry like that if someone else was dead. He deserved better. He put his sht together, he tried so hard for everything. They should have written a better future for him, as a good example. Since there are so many other young people out there suffering because of addiction and abuse, i wish that there would be a good example for them. I wish that we could say "See, you can have a happy life even you had been through a lot". I am so sad.

I've only ever seen this season, but mannnm, that last episode hit so hard. I lost a friend over HIV/AIDS too cuz he hid it and never took treatment until it was too late. You always have to remember that people love you and you gotta want to live...

I absolutely love this series, and I am still trying to process all that happened in season 4. My favorite characters are Zach, Tony, Tyler, and Clay, but when Justin died I was so sad I sobbed throughout the whole last episode. The only thing I need to say is that I wish that instead of ending it where Clay and Tony are riding in a car, I wanted it to show like a few years later and showed where everyone ended up, and I wish it would show more on Tyler, and Monty's sister because I low-key shipped them they were so cute.

I am so sad, they developed this chatacter so good, because tbh i hated him at the begining (bc who didn't) but as the seasons continued i just ended up loving him and i just feel like when you know his past and all the things he did and the reason why he did those things, he was the one who deserved better and i get why the show opted to kill him but i just, i don't know i am so sad. But i also feel like they did this because is something that can happen in real life, i am just so sad it had to happen to Justin, i cried through almost all the last episode, i loved the final scene with him and clay, because they never really showed emotions to eachother, even though you know they loved eachother they never showed it and when clay read the letter i just... felt so sad. Considering how Justin wanted Clay dead in Season 1 the transformation between the 2 of them was the best part of the entire series. Plus the two actors are amazing actors.

Even though it meant that Justin really is going to die, I loved the scene where everyone comes to the hosipal so say their goodbyes to Justin, even though they could not all see him im person one last time. It was great, because it showed to how many people he meant something. And right after that comes Alex & Charlie as Prom Kings and them dancing in front of everyone. It was so cute and these two shots had me crying. Crying for Justin and his new family who will miss him dearly and crying for Alex because he finally found a partner he's happy with. And I'm honest: I'm glad it's over. This way these charakters can finally heal, leaving all the tragedie behind. Hopefully staying friends and be there for each other, even if it's just a phonecall =)

I love the Clay and Justin story it was real and raw. I was quite emotional when Justin died because he did not get to do all the things he wanted. I loved when Jessica said she learned how to love because of Justin. It shows that no matter how bad a person is there is room for growth. Somehow I knew he was going to die by episode 4 when he started to clean up his life and do the right things, it just started to set up for his death. When he was having fevers and not feeling well I suspected that he would die. Great casting, they did a good job with season 4. I thought also season 2-3 were sometimes too long and just was not getting to the heart of the show. The ending with Tony and Clay just driving and not talking reminded me of season one with Clay and Tony's perfect red car driving around.

I was watching the show just for Tyler and Justin. I think their story was the strongest in the sequels. Charlie was a nice character, I say the most sane, Clay's character was made to make very strange choices but played perfectly by Dylan. The ending was very emotional and surprising. They did a good job jabbing an emotional punch with Justin's death.

BEST HIGHLIGHTS OF SEASON 4: 1. Jessica + Justin dancing at prom. "Best Part" is my SONGGGGGG + when Jessica saw Justin, my heart melted. Their relationship was so complex, but their love was undeniably real. 2. Ani's character taking a step back and not being so involved in the mess helped me to realize who she was (btw, she looked so beautiful in the prom scene ...UGH!) 3. Knowing that Monty was actually dead and how he died. Even though he deserved to pay for his crime against Tyler, him being blamed for Bryce's murder was not right at all. 4. Tony going to college and making something of himself. He has been through so much and I'm glad he decided to take the full scholarship and attend college. 5. Tyler + Estela was so cute. I'm glad Tyler forgave Monty and is healing and moving on. He's such a great actor. 6. Justin + Clay in the hospital telling each other they loved each other and Justin's college essay about Clay had me CRYING. Enemies becoming brothers was so beautiful to see. 7. Clay's therapy sessions and the therapist (wonderful actor btw) helped Clay to see who he really is and how to cope and survive. 8. Seeing the other characters at Graduation - Ryan, Courtney, Scott and Chloe WORSE HIGHLIGHTS: 5. Justin DYING !!!! Like, why?! I bawled my eyes out seeing him die. I really wanted Justin to be redeemed and live a healthy life (especially after knowing his mom OD) 6. Winston ... I knew he was going to find out what happened to Monty and in some respects, I agree with his investigations, but getting with Alex and getting too involved in Bryce's murder was way over the top. 7. Diego ... HE IS FINEEEEEEE (whew!), but I did not understand why he was around. He was way too invested and came out of nowhere. Plus, he was Jessica's rebound, so that was kinda messed up. 8. Clay's mental state (Dylan Minnette is an amazing actor) ... now, I knew Clay would snap, but I did not expect him to snap like that. Clay should've been in jail or committed for a LONG time. 9. Zach's character: I loved Zach in the other seasons; he was always the "safe" kid and I guess him holding everything in made him almost broken. 10. Jessica's co-dependency: I could understand why Justin broke up with her (because of his declining health and the importance of recovering), but to rebound with Diego was not the answer. Diego is FINE, but wasn't a good match for her. I wish she learned how to be alone and focus on her friendships more.

I was heartbroken over the death of Justin because he was getting his life on track and he found his true love in Jessica probably my favourite scene in the final episode was when clay ran out of the hospital and to the police station yelling he had a gun then he broke down just do someone would listen to him powerful scene

There was no resolution about Clay's schizophrenia and to make it worst his psychiatrist didn't give him medications for his hallucinations to disappear and so he won't have an altered personality of doing things he didn't remember.

He was kinda just there because this season like season 3 had no direction because season 2 was the conclusion to season 1 then after that they didn't know what to do because it was based on a book the writers and producers were lazy only thing they got right was the music

I thought the final was really well done Justin dying was so sad I was literally sobbing while watching especially when him and Jess was saying goodbye 😭 but I didn’t think killing him was necessary since it was the last season

i think justin's death has big impact and the one that makes the finale more emotional. I mean he is one of fav character and his death such a heartbreaking. So then this season become heartbreakingly memorable to everyone.

The only problem I have with this show is that too many people died from the same school. It doesn’t hit you that hard anymore as the first time. What they did with personal problems was great. They talk about topics that need way more attention than they get now (being gay, anxiety, racism, etc.)

They didn't do as good of a job with the topics like they do on Degrassi they go deep on Degrassi they even have transgender characters and they don't really talk about gay like it's a topic when half the characters are gay they should of only had one or two gay couples they kinda turned it into glee

Justin death was a shock to me and after a while I forgot that someone was suppose to die at the ending but I respected how Clay and Justin relationship grown into brotherhood and how Jessica handled Justin death was inspiring. Overall the gang turned out rather well on my part

The depiction of HIV/aids is all wrong, they kept backflipping like Tony believing Tyler was buying guns again, they inferred Zach is an attempted rapist, Monty's sister was underdeveloped and under used, having Ani just dip for ages made no sense, creepy feeling from the dude asking Jessica out right after Justin died, Tony beating people almost twice as tall (with far bigger reaches), everything Clay does with no consequences. This season was a nightmare and I hated the whole thing.

The show just stopped being real and authentic as it was in the first 2 seasons . It legit felt like a horror series with all those scenes in the woods and everything which was so stupid and unnecessary imo . The only good thing about this season was justin and clay
