Group up in Algiers and my grandfather was a geometric and tiles work, he build his house with all geometric tiles and wood carving, it literally a a beautiful castle. Any as a kid I always got lost in watching the walls. The roof and the doors . And house center fountain was a master piece of art ! I dont know what KZbin recommended this to me by it was such a nice thing to watch. Thank you do much sister for sharing this

Outstanding. Your students were lucky to have such a good teacher. I appreciate how you not only show the perfect drawings, but highlight where they can go wrong and explain WHY they go wrong and even by how much. Not only good instruction but it shows a deeper understanding of the mathematical and geometric relationships. I am motivated to gather a deeper understanding. Thank you!

Thank you so much. You videos are engaging and informative and this once is especially good however, I cannot find other videos where you detail weaving and so my attempts are very much hit-and-miss- and-rub out (on loop). This is soooo beautiful! You are an excellent artist and teacher. I’ve done a lot of Celtic woven drawings which can be somewhat similar in construction. There’s something fascinating about the intricacy of such designs, and the underlying universality of the language of geometry which can be seen throughout nature, from the vastness of galaxies in the cosmos, down to the tiniest atomic structures. There is evidence of design everywhere in creation!! I have been fascinated by Islamic/geometric art for a long time and have several books on it, and have visited various sites in the Middle East and seen the incredible beauty of the architecture and decoration, but so far I haven’t actually tried it! (I do a huge amount of other creative stuff and there always seem to be other projects on the go that need finishing first...) I love the colours you have chosen, too. I can also see this working with a combination of a rich blue and turquoise. Just one tiny thing I noticed - not a criticism because I’m sure when I do it, there will be more than one, haha! - on the outer part of the final woven drawing, you’ve got two “unders” side by side in one place. I wonder if anyone else noticed this tiny flaw? However, I have read that all Islamic artworks feature one small error to show that man falls short of divine perfection!!
@samiramian4 жыл бұрын
love what you say about the universality of geometry! and dare I say, its really common for me to make errors....especially leaving one shape uncoloured, thats typical of me! But doing an over, over...totally possible, ill have to have a look and then smile...
@ShoshiPlatypus4 жыл бұрын
Samira Mian These designs are so complex, and done by hand and by eye, it is easy to miss small things. At the moment I am working on a miniature cross stitch project, embroidering tiny Persian carpets to make covers for needle books. I am designing them first on graph paper, from images I have found online, and the last one that I completed, I found sooo many errors in the design!! On my blog everyone was saying they couldn’t spot the mistakes and it became almost like one of those “spot the difference” games! (If you want to see them, you can visit me at shoshiplatypus.com/blog - but no worries, I am sure you are really busy). As for the universality of geometry, it is a fascinating subject. It is also absolutely amazing how often the Fibonacci Series and the Golden Rectangle crop up in nature, and how our eyes and brains are attuned to appreciate its beauty. God is a mathematician! I just love your work and am gradually watching all the videos, and saving them for future reference for when I start to do the drawings myself. Keep up the good work, and I wish you well in your endeavours.
