Of course, the greatest unanswered question is why KZbin doesn't fight harder to protect fair use.

it’s true. i understand that there are people just straight up posting whole movies and violating copyright, so it’s good that KZbin has some sort of system, but their follow up is awful. everything is in the hands of the claimant.

@@movietimelines It is terrible, but you are so adorable about it with the ingenious idea of holding the cards and looking around; I wasn't sure which was more enjoyable - you discussing deep meanings of Theoretical and Quantam Physics or the cards, looks, and voiceover. You gave me something I didn't know I wanted but always needed in my life. LOL Btw, about the Alice Cooper led vagrants (school literally was out forever in this movie and for him) - people often associate mental illness and homelessness/vagrancy together a lot (whether right or wrong or unfair), and I kind of assumed that they behaved in that ordered, "borg-like hive" manner because they were more vulnerable to being taken over. Their minds were uncluttered by reality, and therefore, while aggressive, they were not active as long as the people stayed inside the church. I believe that was their task - to keep everyone from leaving. Their fate was sealed while inside; no need to kill anyone.

Great video. Re the fire axe and mirror portal, there is a folklore belief that metal/iron "repels, contains, or harms ghosts, fairies, witches, and other malevolent supernatural creatures. This belief continued into later superstitions in a number of forms: Nailing an iron horseshoe to a door was said to repel evil spirits or, later, to bring good luck.", so made it's the metal in the axe that shatters the portal and not down to Catherine or a combination of the both? But I do like the Priest/Church controlling how the story is told and taking the benefit of Catherine's sacrifice.

Definitely one of John Carpenter's more controversial pieces. You either love it or you hate it. I enjoyed it and for what it lacked in plot, it more than made up for in atmosphere, acting, and just sheer weirdness.

To help with the college age question. I went back to college and finished my bachelor's degree when I was 35, and did graduate work in the two years after. So I guess I would've looked about the same being in that church wrestling with the prince of darkness too (sans moustache).

I completely sympathize with the Fair Use cards. I received a copyright strike for including a few seconds of copyrighted music in a video, and KZbin's reply to my appeal was "we don't know what you're talking about, so your appeal is denied." This situation is VILE and SHAMEFUL and the platform should be held accountable for it. Won't hold my breath though. Philosopher Caroline Konstnar summed it up best: "...but I still wanna make that KZbin money."

Passive Aggressive Annoyance FTW. It is interesting because some other Countries have way less explicit Fair Use rules ... I wonder if some Companies use their Subsidiaries Countries Rules to get strikes against American content Creators by using more forbidding Rules to Game You Tubes International and Lazy (way too big to handle) System... Great Way to do This BTW!

unfortunately, KZbin’s copyright system isn’t the most well polished machine. they give the copyright holders all of the power in terms of determining if they think it violates copyright, even if it would fall under fair use. certain companies are aware of this and use it to their advantage, making claims on ANY video that contains their content, whether or not it would be considered fair use. this was one of those.

The Message in a dream wasn't that hard to work out? It was coming from the future - does it matter who is sending it? If this was a modern movie their would be a crap exposition dump explaining everything as clearly people cannot work things out or maybe there is no clear answer and cannot handle that aspect of a film lol. The ambiguity of the ending is what makes it great and bleak - why does there need to be understanding as ambiguity creates debate and fan theories which is great.

it doesn’t totally matter who is sending the message, but it is interesting to think about and theorize.
