Hello, I am in the same exact boat 😄. Single, turning 41 in October and I live with my lovely cat. The only thing I want is to buy a house and hopefully adopt a child ❤. I managed to put aside £9000 in one year by cutting down on food and electricity but I had to be really frugal. I spent no more than £25/week on food. Winter months were not my best days but what can I do! Also there’s no entertainment whatsoever in my life, no bars, no alcohol, no clubs and no going out with friends more than once in 3 months and only when I did that I managed to save the money so I feel you and I hope your channel helps you. I watch all your videos because you make me feel that I am not alone ❤.

Wow u r doing exactly what a lot of us r to weak to do so well done. I am 50 in july and after a huge shift in my personal circumstances i am only how starting to take responsibility and be true to myself instead of fitting in with other peoples expectations of me just wish i had done it in my forties but not my 3 daughters were only young but they are now 19 18 and 16 and more accepting that i am my own pwrson and not the traditional stereotypical mum px

Quick maths check for you - £200 budget and you’ve spent £162 means you’ve got £38 left, not £32. So that’s £2.11 per day instead of £1.78. (Sorry I’m an accountant, I can’t help myself 😂)

The broccoli bites look really good! I am so grateful to have a house. I’m a bit older (61 this year) but I’ve worked all of my life and saved seriously for about 7 years to get into the house and then put everything I could into paying it off. The younger you can start saving and getting on the properly ladder the better. Love your channel!

Have been enjoying your videos since the beginning. Quite a journey you're on. We love poached eggs too. They are easy to make and cook in only 3 minutes. If you want to give it a go, I recommend the following: Boil water in your kettle and fill a skillet more than halfway with the boiling water. Add one tablespoon of white vinegar (this will help the egg set) Set the hob to medium-high to maintain a light simmer, not a rapid boil. Next, crack your egg into a teacup, then slide egg into water from teacup. Maintain a light simmer for 3 minutes (up to 3 minutes 30 seconds for a larger egg), then lift out with a slotted spoon. Fresh eggs work best.

I bought my first home at the age of 34 and single which I thought was old at the time (I’m 52 now). I’m currently on a low buy year because i want to pay extra off my mortgage each month and to be mortgage free in 4 years. I feel for people today wanting to buy a house, especially if they rent, and to save a decent deposit. It would be interesting if you could do monthly updates on how much you saved in the month and your cumulative savings to date. I wish you all the success, you can do it!

this gives me inspiration. I live in London and I currently spend between £100 (ha! one week a year ) to about £175 a week on food, for myself only . I know, I know it's stupid. but I only spend £3 a week on transport and other than that I try to not spend more than £10 on buying anything else a week. So the rest of my money goes to rent and council tax, water, electricity, phone bill and internet. I really want to cut down my food budget but I like to eat 'well'. ie, buying fresh berries every day, eating prawns a lot etc. how do I cut down on this? my food bill is insane whereas im so thrifty elsewhere?

Omg you sound like me! Cutting down on fruit will help, I used to buy bananas, apples, kiwi, every week and berries, blueberries especially expensive. Now the only fruit I buy are frozen berries. Prawns are lovely xx

I really enjoy your channel. One question, have you got a crockpot? It might be worth investing in one, it is very forgiving when using cuts of meat, which is hard to cook on the stove. So you could save money that way. Just a thought. I am using my crockpot a lot and I bought it for £23 (mind you that was a few years ago). Keep up the good work!

Hi from Miami, Fl, love your channel. A crockpot is an awesome idea. I bought one many years ago and used it just once. I dusted it off and using it a lot now. Those cheaper cuts of meat are so soft tender and delicious when cooked low and slow.

I used to be a home owner. I had a paid off house but I let my ex have it when we divorced.I love being in rented. I live in a lovely house with a great garden, nice location with my youngest twins and 4 cats and it doesn't bother me. It's community that counts for me now. I just think life is too short for all the misery of trying to get on the property ladder. I'd never do it again. Best of luck to you. xx

Am enjoying your journey. Please don’t consider this month a fail, you set a budget which is much more controlled than before you started and doing this seems to make you feel accountable. If you can somehow get that savings routine established you will get that home purchase even if some months are healthy rather than keto.

I'm in the same situation as you but 5 years older, The rented place i'm in now is up for sale and the landlord offered 20% off the value but I don't have the deposit and income too low for a mortgage, so will have to move soon. Other life issues means I have to move in 3-4 month anyway. I've been thinking about the van life for over 10 years now so that's what I'm going to do. Some of the ready meals at supermarkets are cheaper to buy than make, wish you all the best
