@joegiersher2815 ай бұрын
Did anybody ever write anything about these fires over the years that they would have happened? It seems that it took a long time to alert people about this. The Pinto, however, was always a crappy car, and in quite a few different ways. Back in the late '60s, when that Corvair blew up, Ralph Nader was all over that case. Just couldn't keep his mouth shut and made many people view the Corvair as a dangerous and badly designed car. It was far better and more innovative than the Pinto, which he didn't seem to say anything about interestingly. At least not when it first hit the market.
@michaelmartin22765 ай бұрын
@@joegiersher281 I couldn't disagree more. The Pinto in its day was a good car. Ford sold several million of them and they were the top selling compact car of the 1970. The number of Pinto's that actually caught fire was far lower than news outlets reported. Look it up. 27 deaths and 24 injuries. Which was a lower % than most other small cars then, like the Vega,Chevette, Maverick and Datsun B210. These are facts easily accessible online.
