The hole in the tip might just have been an attachment point to where the owner tied the seal-fur skins, to prevent from sliding backwards, just like we use on skis today (only in mohair and nylon versions).

They have found other skies with hole on the sides for fastening the skins, but this pair didn't have any side holes. They didn't find any furs close to the skies either which led them to believe that this pair was without skins. But with that being said, it's a possibility that the hole in the tip of the skis were there as a way of fastening skins. Multi purpose maybe?

These artifacts being there means the glaciers were not there then right? So was there global warming then too? I am confused.

When the skis were left on the mountain, there was already ice and snow there. In the meantime the layer of snow/ice has become thicker, until it started to decrease again, due to climate change and in effect uncovered the artefacts.
