Quite! Brand names are meant to say something or conjure up an image, but "American Riviera Orchard" - aside from not tripping off the tongue due to the clashing vowels that make the last word almost separate from the other two - is just a visual and cognitive mess. 'Riviera' is an Italian word that means 'coastline', and although I now realise it has been used to describe Santa Barbara (something I only discovered today), I think the majority of global travellers hearing the words 'the Riviera' are going to think of Europe, not the US. The European riviera is associated with the European tourist industry, not US food and lifestyle. Then we have 'orchard', and the only link to food is that some fruits are grown in orchards. Orchards conjure up images of rural areas and have absolutely nothing to do with coastlines or lifestyles. I sense another area of endeavour in which the Duchess may have rejected good advice!

I live near this American Riviera & I can attest there are NO orchards in Santa Barbara or Montecito. To do this on a day that was meant to honor the late Diana, Princess of Wales, where her sons celebrate young people who are inspired to continue her work was disgusting. As was her disrespect for Prince William and her husband, who were making the day about Diana and how her real legacy is carrying on. I hope Harry is very angry with her. In fact, these 8/9year olds are so interested & competant they are making some fairly sophisticated recipies ... far beyond markles scope. My grandsons Banana Bread with cinnamon, walnuts & dates was so scrumptious.. & HIS OWN version! He made Rhubarb & Ginger Jam Recently & BlackBerry & Apple next! He can whop a dozen chicken wings in a dish, season, bake & serve! All we ever hear from the Gargoyle of Montecito is bloody banana bread.. chicken & now its ....taa dahhh ... Jam ??? She deserves failure! She supposed to be so ultra talented, academic ( lol 😆 Anyone remember what she said in her recent SxSW speech that she was grateful for her MAMMALIAN INSTICT..??? So much for Meghans' so called deep love of Diana. Seems it doesn't matter so much that she would attempt to up stage William on a night when he was honouring his mothers' memory and the winners of the award. She is devoid of any normal feelings, in my opinion. Worships money only and herself. As for Harry who claims he loves his mother so much, and goes on about her incessantly allowed his wife to do this. He does not love his mother. He has brought her memory to disrepute, and he feels guilt because he refused to take her phone call just before she died and blames everyone else. He forgets Diana had two sons. William lost his mother also but has honoured her by his actions, unlike Harry.

Interestingly the first Christmas present Catherine gave Queen Elizabeth was a pot of homemade preserves (it was either jam or chutney, can’t remember which bit she does talk about it in an early interview) and it was alleged that Meghan bought Catherine a knife. According to Kinsey Schofield today, apparently prior to finding Harry, she was in the U.K. looking for a cooking show to do. She seems to have come full circle. It feels like all of this has been released in a big panic.
