It's an interesting take on starship design. The only other ship I can think of that incorporates the nacelles into the primary hull is the Defiant class.

I'll take one, and I'll do the refit myself. I love the way it really looks more like a traditional UFO than anything else Starfleet ever built. I think that it would be a fine flagship for a commercial fleet, agile as a weasel and well armed. I would have no problem protecting my freighters with a nice Starfleet built ship of ANY class, but I have always wanted something more....retrofuturistic,and this class is a humdinger in that regard.

Thank you for this video. I've surprised myself as to how much I've come from being totally oblivious in awareness of this starship design to extremely fond of it, all because of this one video! I've always loved the Constitution class refit and regard it to be the quintessential starship design, always number one. Followed by the Discovery Enterprise design at number two and the DS9 Defiant design at number three, I would definitely place the Magee class at number four. Hello Triangulum. I think the MaGee Class would be an excellent purchase to be re-fitted and outfitted as a privately owned vessel. Not too fast, armed and armored, it would be able to protect itself in places that were 'less than optimal' for wheeling and dealing with sometimes unsavory aliens (reference Star Trek Enterprise and the Orions). This old ship would also make an excellent vessel for newer colonies if one could get several of them into a small 'fleet' of their own to protect the colony before better ships become available, or the colony improves enough to warrant such protection. Having the Nacelles merged with the Hull would make accessing them for repairs and maintenance far easier and less costly than a 'normally' designed starship. I noted the protrusions in the armored nacelles fore sections and wonder if the are weapon housings, or dedicated sensors. I did not note any paneling for retractable weapons pods like on the early Enterprise, although they might be there and I did not see them. As a 'Civilian' ship, the onus would not be on firepower, but cargo capacity, science, and trade. The MaGee Class would fit this need pretty well. Just my thoughts, accept them or not.

Hi, first of all I wanted to apologize for some comments I made about a video that was set to music and not the usual format, no excuse by I'd just had devastating news and was not in a good place , but I feel.bad my comment was overly harsh . But I also wanted to say how much I've really enjoyed the recent videos , especially this Inthe Maghee Class, and the Uss Buran, I think was the Cardenas class, the amount of detail and information, makes the stories so much better than reading some websites that have starship history , as with the animation which is totally stunning , it really brings each one alive . By any chance will you be doing one on the Walker class, of which the famous Shenzhou was part of? . And the Uss Prometheus? The Luna class And Akira Class? All amazing ships and I'd love to see how you do those , but I also wanted to say how much I genuinely do love your amazing work , it provides much needed entertainment in what are personally difficult times , and once again I'm truly humbly sorry for my past comment on one video, Its also not an excuse but I do have multiple health issues and my ears are very sensitive , and affect mood a little, as I say on the day it had been very upsetting. , And I'd played the clip thinking it was like this and I totally reacted wrongly and way out of line so again my humble apologies. That has got to be a deeply unpleasant ship to be assigned long term duty on. With the nacelles incorporated into the saucer there's not a lot of room for bunk space. I'd imagine, given its origin as a combat vessel, that it has barrack-style bunks. Pretty cramped space for long term missions. Eight decks & 100 crew would put it in pretty cozy territory, not unlike the Sabre class.

The information comes from Canon, while the model comes from Beta Canon, STO specifically, which is incorrect, weaponry redesigned for the game, hence why Beta Canon in meaningless! And canon itself ALWAYS trumps Beta Canon!

In starships a sphere is the best design. It gives the most internal space per surface area. I.e. it weighs less.

If you take the dimensions of one of the Sphere Ships in Trek and Calculate the Internal Volume and Com pare it to a saucer starship of the same period, you will quickly see that the Saucer designs have FAR more internal Volume... Also the BEST starship design shape, with the most internal Volume and Surface area, is a Cube, not a sphere...

I know near everybody here is positive towards this design, but honestly I think this is the worst. I find it looks like someone with minimal Trek knowledge designed a flying saucer. At least in the Defiant the Nacelles look at each other on the underside and the shape is intriguing. This I think looks like a model load in state in blender before you arrange the parts xD That is just a taste thing though. I honestly didn’t like the messaging in the episode either, as it clashed with the values I knew from Starfleet thanks to Barkley and such characters. So that may play into it
