As I got into my late 20s, I started realizing that I wasn't recovering like I used to. The treadmill not only is easier on my joints and body overall, but it also spares me the absolute misery of having to run outside in the winter. I'm not competitive anymore, but I work full time as a CPA and I am still about 85-90% of my high school PR speed at 30. I feel my best when I am at this level of fitness, so I just keep consistent.

Very similar here, work in quant finance (people aren't very active here), joints are a little rough from the years of studying and long nights so I find the treadmill to absorb the force a lot better on the weaker knees. Heavy squats have worked wonders to build the knees back up too - KneesOverToesGuy I cannot recommend enough if you want the joints to feel healthier again.

As an NCAA athlete, I can confirm that there are MANY benefits to running on the treadmill..especially thru out summer training w/ workouts (tempos), faster ez runs, and even recovery runs (due to the soft surface compared to gravel roads). Great vid, as always!! 🔥💪

I have a nordic treadmill in my garage. Since i work a physical job in construction i will always be tired. Just having it just a few steps away from my room is a life saver. Plus having sports induce asthma being inside for the winter is better for me physically and mentally till I have races. 2% incline works for me

I am a self trained 24 year old runner and although I have run a lot outside, in 2023 I did a large amount of work on the treadmill as for the same reasoning as Yaseen here said, time efficiency. I have went from a strong despair for the treadmill to nowadays it is often a blessing to hop on the treadmill earbuds in fan blowing and just getting in the zone. Initially for me running at 10mph on the treadmill was very difficult even though running on concrete or track the same pace is more moderate difficulty, but eventually I got the hang of it. I personally like a treadmill with .5 incline for some reason feels better than completely flat or 1 incline. Either way, nice video. Peace from Nashville.

I feel guilty for liking the treadmill sometimes, thank you for making this. I prefer to do my long runs on them because I can watch tv or a podcast. They're easy pace so I'm not distracted. I don't have to plot 16-20 mile loops or run a 4 mile loop 5 times. I started on them because I'm also in ATX and got heat stroke this past summer when it was really hot, so I moved to treadmills and found I liked them after acclimating. I still do some runs outside, but also do some on the treadmill. I like doing my tempos outside, but intervals and long runs on the treadmill. Easy zone 2 for shorter distances outside. To each their own. Thank you for making this.

The treadmill was how I managed to increase my mileage. Every single time I crossed 60m/wk, I blew something and couldn’t train for a few weeks at minimum. It sucked. I invested in a treadmill after seeing professionals like Jakob and Mo using them for their sustained paces and decided to give it a shot. Game changing.

Dude I love the treadmill for all the reasons you've discussed. I ran a lot of my mileage on the mill for my recent marathon prep. For about....I don't know, maybe 75-80% of my 85+miles per week were done on the mill. This included: long runs (upwards of 2.5-3hrs on the treadmill), easy runs..just set at a comfortable jog pace for 60-90mins...tempo runs... even repetition stuff like 800m or 1km repeats. I just really like the ability to set the appropriate paces with ease...have time and distance right in front of me. Some may argue that treadmills are not 100% accurate and/or they don't simulate outdoor running exactly; accuracy of the treadmill is not as important as its validity as a training tool. I use the same treadmill each time I train on one...whatever 10mph is on that treadmill when I set it may be more or less 10mph, however I'm consistently using that same treadmill set to a given speed to elicit the appropriate heart rate or RPE or w.e. response. If it's off, it's consistently off in the same way...what matters is if I'm able to increase the mph number on that treadmill over time without an increase in heart rate or RPE. If you're able to do that (using the same treadmill), you know that you're fitness is improving. Anyway, I doubt it held me back at all for my marathon preparation. I've only been running since September of 2022 and was able to hit a 3hr marathon within about a year of running--a lot of that running was done on the good ol' mill.

Love seeing this; currently spend about 60% of my time on my tread, and I love it. Started measuring lactate a few months ago, which is REALLY hard to get right without the controlled environment that a treadmill provides. However, even knowing that it's the right thing for my training approach, I still question myself. Typically because I'm surrounded by a bunch of "anti-treadmill" runners, guys with intentional 10+ year no treadmill streaks. Always makes me second guess whether I can do the same thing outside that I can do on the tread. Seeing your results, I know I can.

Did you calibrate treadmill to slightly harder incline or speed to account for a bit of an “easier” stimulus (i.e., it’s moving underneath)? In other words, would 5 min pace on track or road have to be done at 4:55 or 1% grade to make it an even effort?

People have told me that running on the treadmill isn’t as effective as running outside as the treadmill moves for you so all you’re really doing is bouncing, putting more stress on your joints and stuff rather than making your muscles work. I really struggled to go at my regular pace outdoors on the treadmill and usually needed to slow down 7:30 to 8:15/30. Doing so i lost fitness pretty quick. How should i build fitness on the mill in the offseason? It get basically impossible to run at times during the winter cause of cold and weather.
Жыл бұрын
really? for me the treadmill is easier. My 5km pb is 2 min faster on the treadmill. People say to put it on 1% but If I do that it feels way way harder than running outside at the same pace. I should try 0.5 but this treadmill only has increments of 1

as a high school athelte would you recommend to esay and long runs on the treadmill. Also love your videos they help alot. Just wanted to share Gods love with you and tell you about Jesus. He is real and really did live and die just for you he knows you by name. the diciplies wouldnt have died if he wasnt real, why would they give their life for something that is fake. he forgives and changed my life and gave me a undiscrable hope and joy. i want everyone to experince that. praying for you Yassen lmk if you wanna chat.

You should have fun in high school. Treadmill is efficient but not fun it’s better to mess around and train with teammates but if that’s not an option then yeah I’d do treadmill if I was anyone.

Incline is just one metric of getting more effort like running faster or more often or more reps. It’s very hard to control though with a big increase of effort even at like 5% grade. So I’d rather focus on things that are easy to control like pace for making myself better.

It’s hard to find a treadmill that can contain my stride, I’m 6’5 with a really long stride. Most of them can’t contain that. Have you experienced that constructed feeling of a treadmill?
@yaseenabdalla8713
@yaseenabdalla8713 Жыл бұрын
No I’m not that tall😂😂 fee fi fo fum. Kidding but there are larger treadmills if you can afford it. If not then just run as close to the front as possible. I run at the very back and run fine I could run on a treadmill that was 1 foot long I’d just step in the same place.

16mph, not 60 lol, subtitles. The precors are nice. I heard ingebrigtsen runs 49sec 400M repeat sometimes. You would need a treadmill that goes over 18mph. That would be nice but it probably costs $15-30k lol. Where is this ebook and website? I do not see it in the comments.
