Majority of them are running Cat engines.. I know my c-15 used to be set too 600 hp and 2150 ft/lbs at the crank most of these guys are running the same engine block and head but with cams,injectors and turbos from the c-16/c-18 engines and such, those engines are cranking out anywhere from 1500-2400 hp you can just imagine the torque output 😳 I met up with the couture race team in notré damn and when they dynoed their truck it was making 2000hp at the wheels and it wasn't putting all the power down 😳... on top of all that.. these are all oem transmissions... oem rear ends and oem axles....

I'm a car guy through and through I absolutely love watching everything from drifting to drag racing to motor builds and body kits but damn it brings the kid out of me watching these videos. There's just something so cool and somewhat scary about these big powerful machines. Being in a family with a couple truckers that have had a few bad ass rigs they literally don't touch these trucks in any way shape or form. I couldn't imagine being inside of one of these things as they launch.

That’s probably one of the craziest sensations going that fast in something that is that heavy and sits that high. I have a lot of respect for these drivers! It seems a lot more difficult and tedious than regular car drag racing! 🤘🔥

When I first got my license, I got a little rabbit GTI. They go decently. Well, I dropped a buddy off at the truck yard to grab his old cabover and follow him to the other yard to get the trailer. I hadda give it 2/3-3/4 pedal to keep up with him in acceleration Pretty sure that was an old 855 Cummins ,like a mid 80s model.

The EPA wanted to remove slightly more sulfur from the fuel using a more expensive process ....that spiked the cost up by an extra dollar in 2008 What's dumb is that sulfur created sulfur dioxide.... one of the most potent _anti_ greenhouse gasses. This implies the EPA believes global warming is less dangerous than the smell of diesel fuel..... And this matches with reality....at least until Antarctica is melted again like it normally is.

Cat has industrial and marine variants of these engines doing over 1000 HP, factory, with warranties. The right cam, injectors, turbo and tuning can make north of 2000 HP on all Caterpillar-branded parts.

I could only imagine what it must be like to be in a truck like that! Brother-in-law had a early 2000’s peterbuilt with a CAT 15L in it. 500hp one if I recall correctly,, with a sleeper on it. Bobtailing , and as we stopped at a intersection , a kid in a late 90’s Chevy truck pulled alongside us… brother-in-law says ‘he thinks he can take me!….. watch this!….’…. Think he started in 4th gear… and that pickup got gapped big time!

You should see the flames coming out of the much larger exhaust of a 3516 Cat or 4000 Detroit when they lose a turbo hauling 400 tons uphill. They look similar to an old F-5, lighting the afterburners at night on takeoff from MCAS Yuma. Then the white smoke rolls out in huge plumes when the driver backs out of the throttle. Replacing those oil-soaked exhaust blankets isn't fun either.

Whewn the turbo breaks, it usually breaks the impellar, and the shaft comes out and goes down into the exhaust, now you have that hole with 60 plus PSI of hot oil going through that hole. That's where the fire came from. I've seen trucks blow a turbo and oil the entire side of the trailer down.

1650 torque transmissions live behind 2200+ ft-lbs in working trucks, every day. Mine is one of them. Eaton builds up to 2250 rated transmissions, which are SIGNIFICANTLY more expensive, but, obviously, have the robustness to match.

Hey 1320 can you find out what they're running for fuel (#1 blend etc) and is there any added Cetane. And of course thanks for covering the Big Rigs. I liked driving the old school trucks prior to emissions BS and the newest electronic units. Unfortunately the FMCSA/DOT keeps over regulating us and has been turning trucking into a 9-5 job for those with no skill. Automatics and electronic gizmos are poop

I loved the rigs in the 80s, seen some with full blown bars in the sleeper. I miss the vans of the 70s and 80s, beautiful art work

All Semi trucks should be allowed to have zero emissions control devices and as much horsepower and torque as possible. Let these people move loads across the country as fast as possible 😂.

Lol..yeah but in reality they actually run the quarter in the 12 to 14sec range. Which is pretty damn quick.

@@kowboy.kez359 That's an illusion, the black soot you're seeing may in fact seem like it's going down , but that's only because of the air being dragged behind the vehicle. The rest you don't see does in fact go " up".
