Obviously this whole period of episodes revolving around the reveal is a high water mark, but that final confrontation scene between John Paul and Craig from 6:52-8:21 is just exceptional. The writing is strong, the rhythm of the scene tense and crisp, and the guys' performances are marvelous. When JP delivers his final monologue, you can really tell he's a McQueen, hear the voice of his mother and sisters coming through. It's impossible to not be drawn in!

This was the first of a couple of things that had to happen for Craig to truly accept his relationship with JP and that included having to lose JP so he could mature enough and come back for their sunset ending.

Lessons in being supportive by Jack and Darren Osborne. They're pretty great. Craig had it coming, there's no denying that... but there's clearly something wrong with him--one second he's realizing that he's just like his father, and shows remorse, and then LITERALLY THE NEXT SECOND he's telling JP it's his fault. He's always been a bit antisocial...
@capuccino4285
@capuccino4285 10 жыл бұрын
what does that have to do with being antisocial? for me being antisocial means that you hate people and even that you like to hurt them, he is not doing that he's just confused, also he said that things to JP because he was angry but i don't think he really meant it
@msashlyjudd8
@msashlyjudd8 9 жыл бұрын
***** Actually, in my psychology class, by definition, a person who is antisocial has little or no regard for right or wrong. They intentionally harm others and don't care who gets hurt. They often lie and engage in aggressive or violent behavior. Craig is absolutely antisocial. He lied to both JP and Sarah, and when everything came out, he took no blame on himself. He blamed JP for everything. He does eventually take the responsibility, but in this video he is clearly displaying antisocial behavior.
@msashlyjudd8
@msashlyjudd8 9 жыл бұрын
Yes, but sociopath or psychopath tendencies usually lead to murder. Antisocial behavior rarely does. Craig lied and cheated for months with little or no regard for how JP felt about it. Hence no regard for right or wrong. I got my definition from the statistical diagnostic manual, which is used by psychologists to diagnose such behavior.

I was so happy and proud when John Paul told Craig off and walked away. Yes Craig was trapped between two choices, he's always cared too much what other people think of him. And he always been a bit selfish, carrying on and acting just like his dad. But I'm glad that John Paul called Craig on his bull and didn't allow himself to be Craig's victim anymore. I think Craig would had married Sarah, even though it was John Paul he was in love with. And I do think Craig would had tried to keep John Paul as his bit on the side.

In my opinion the guilt would have gotten to much for Craig and before he was married to her he would of told her he loved JP and was with him for months.

This is why I loved Darren. He stood up for Craig. He put Jake in his place. Let’s not forget Jake cheated on becca then knocked her about when she did the same to him. He beat up a kid. He then got together with beccas sister and beat her up too. Hardly a good guy. But Darren he matured into a really good guy

I've seen this episode very often, and every time I want to hit Jake in the face. He just needed to keep up with Craig. He has a life of conscience on his conscience, and has been scorned for it. I'm not saying Craig did the right thing. He should have told the truth a long time before, and he was supposed to be his feelings, because he had known for a long time who he really loved and with whom he wanted to be together. It is also perfectly clear that he would never have made a marriage application to Sarah if he had not gotten into this predicament through Spike. And he says so himself later. But neither Jake nor Nancy have the right to treat Craig like that. He's his brother, and even if he doesn't understand it, he should stand by him. I'm just glad that Craig has in this situation least Jack at his side, because his mother is good indeed to nothing

I love John Paul's monologue to Craig. I've seen it so many times I've literally memorized it word for word along with a lot of the lines from the reveal. The only thing I don't like is how John Paul plays the victim while he's talking to Sarah. Yeah Craig used him this entire time, but John Paul knew Craig was with Sarah. Sarah knew nothing about him. It wasn't right that Craig was stringing John Paul along, but John Paul could have made the hard decision and stayed away from Craig, but he didn't. He can't pretend he didn't play an active role in deceiving Sarah.

ITA. It's not like she hadn't broken up with him and all that. Craig had ways out several times and he kept wanting her back. Hurting Sarah could've all been avoided. Like when Craig says "If I could go back, I wouldn't hurt you" I hardly think he means that he wouldn't sleep with JP. I think he'd go back and break things off with her. I know he loves Sarah, but he loves JP more. And that's what makes this whole storyline so sad. Sarah was always going to get the short end of the stick. :(

I always get so tired watching this storyline again. Craig's behavior is exhausting. The two people who took the cringe out of all of this every time I watch this. Darren-the irony. The obnoxious one is actually making the most sense. Two: Craig's dad. He has a calm demeanor to him to begin with, so I am not all that surprised but glad he's there for Craig. Still a mess. The thing that I tend to question is that it still would've been awkward to break up with Sarah, whoever initiates it and go with JP. It may have put a slight rift to the relationship between them and Sarah, but it would of been better and honest than this train wreck.

I don't think Sarah would have gotten the short end of the stick..I think Craig would have married and moved to dublin with Sarah even though he really wanted to be with JP..JP always got the short end of the stick if you really think about it...Sarah & Craig went on vacation together.. it was Craig's idea and he later told JP he didn't know he was going.. Craig would have been miserable with Sarah than leave her and be happy with JP.. just to not be seen as being GAY...

He's just a windup merchant. He actually has always had a soft spot for Craig and stands up for him fairly consistently during the time they've been step-siblings. But I agree, he makes a lot of homophobic comments. The thing is, he's all bark and no bite. Frankie and Jake are much more homophobic than him.

This is one reason I don't do monogamy, its not worth the headache. Heteros are welcome to it. I do feel bad for Craig though. It's easy to blame it all on him, but the truth is he feels trapped. I don't mean trapped between JP and Sarah. He was trapped between JP and the world.

I do but at the same time I feel sorry for her. I mean just imagine her situation. In her head no one loves Craig as much as she loves him. She lives in this perfect little world with lollipops and rainbows and a lovely angel Craig who sweeps her off the ground up to a big beautiful sky. Then it was as if someone broke the record and replaced it with dungeons and dragons. Dungeons and dragons is a long way from her princess fairytale :p I'm just glad I don't have to hear their lips smacking off.

"I had to buy my own engagement ring." I get what Sarah's getting at, but she didn't actually HAVE to buy the ring... can't help thinking that that whole little convo says everything. And I know Jake was a complete arse in these scenes but he got nice again in the end. Nancy however, still remains a whiny cow (and I have to admit, I love how she jumps back in obvious fright when Craig turns on her; she has that coming. Strong fiery Nancy indeed).
