I planted a coastal redwood 7 years ago and now it’s over 50 foot tall

Too big, too fast. Redwoods are not great urban trees. They require a lot of water.

That is awesome. I live in the cascades and plan on having 100 acres plus one day. I would love to grow old under trees I raised.

What's your location for it to grow that fast?

The party responsible for boxing that tree into an unrealistic grow zone knew nothing about Redwoods .The tree will eventually bust up the walk and driveway and foundation if it survives and then the house owner will cut it down . Shameful planning of a house around a redwood tree .

I would love to have an update on this giant, 12 years on!

Hey Sam. I will see if I can find it again

@@arboristBlairGlenn That would be brilliant! It would be interesting to see if the owner took your advice. Perhaps more interesting would be if this tree has become another of the drought / trunk canker disease victims that seemed to be plaguing urban redwoods in the valley area.

I got a small Redwood couple feet tall but the branches are higher than the main trunk is that normal? its growing wider but haven't seen much growth in height
@SnakeBlozck3 жыл бұрын
Mine is the same. The actual top of the trunk of the tree died, and I pruned it off, and a new trunk is growing out of the side. I have noticed little to no growth in height. Not sure why though. Sense it's been 2 years, do you have advice on how to make it start growing, or does it still need help?

Matt, are the redwood trees now being irrigated with recycled water? High salinity in recycled water is toxic to redwoods. Blair

how it come the bark looks so red and often it is more a grey brownish

Where are you located? Redwoods are too tall to transport water to the top of the tree. They have to get water from the atmosphere. This is why they are native to costal areas with large amounts of water which has evaporated from the ocean. It seems that the canopy is suffering the most, so it may be due to the inability to gain water from the atmosphere.

They don’t grow as tall in the lowlands
