In this video I take the RK by King Kutter 1.5 Ton XB Dump Trailer on it's first trip to haul some firewood. I think this is the perfect trailer for a subcompact tractor or a side x side rktractors.com

Great trailer.i bought one last year.the best investment I've made for my property.i pull it with my 2013 Kubota rtv900,it's durable tracks well and will hold a lot of weight.it raises up very quickly even when fully loaded and is very stable on uneven ground good luck with yours and enjoy

That's a beast of a dump trailer. You will definitely get a lot of use out of it. I have one that I use for my ATV and the BX 24. Not an RK. I use it mostly for transporting split firewood and branches from downed trees. For branches I remove the tailgate and place a ratchet strap across the rear of the bed before I load the branches. When fully loaded I strap the branches together and leave a tail. I'll tie that up high in the woods where I dump and drive away. The whole load gets emptied easily. Mine is rated for 2500 lbs with floating tandem axles. More than enough for my vehicles. Beautiful weather here in the lower Hudson Valley too Mike but still lots of snow on the ground.

Another nice addition! I made a smaller one when my boat trailer axle bent. Figured I wouldn’t let it go to waste when I replaced it. It wasn’t bent bad. Would just wear tires unevenly over time. Perfect for a trailer around the yard. Had some scrap metal and got to welding. Made it 5 x4 I think. The bed is just balanced on a hinge and spring latched on the front. When I pull the latch, it’s an uncontrolled full dump. Very handy piece of gear, plus the kids can handle it with the atv. Putting the kids to work is always a plus!

I bought one after seeing your video. I installed an electric hydraulic pump. My tractor has no rear hydraulics. Line-Xed the bed. Put a better jack on (side wind not top wind). Had a lunette hitch fabricated. Building a tool rack to go on the front with some Artilian parts. Putting tubes in tires. Replaced the tailgate chain with a SS chain. I do suggest pulling the wheels off & lightly greasing the hub exterior. Two wheels seemed to be sticking when I took them off. Nice trailer.

I found one of these trailers used here in New Hampshire and bought it for $300. I love it and it's so easy to back up with the axles together. Much easier than backing up a hay trailer and still has four wheels.

Mike, Great video that trailer sure looks handy! That swivel head and tandem axle are awesome features as well! I like how the manual pump is a double valve or whatever they call it meaning the trailer goes up on each pump both up and down. My father had a race car jack like that he used when he used to race pro stocks and man you’d lift a car in 2 pumps! That’s a nice feature so you don’t tire yourself out pumping after a long days work in the woods! -Jay

Just an idea but leave the tailgate closed and tip it up when you have firewood in it, stand at the back and pick the pieces out of the trailer and split them, instead of dumping them on the ground and bending down to pick every piece up. I’m 6’2 and let me tell you it’s a back saver!

Copy and pasted my response to everyone else that said that lol "I already told someone else the same thing, you are correct, However had I not dumped the full load there would have been a 100 comments "why would you do a dump trailer review and not dump the load of firewood!!!!!" Lol"

Mike, That is an awesome looking trailer! I bet you will get a lot of use out of that baby…:) We have a Yutrax TX158 Trail Warrior X2 ATV Utility Trailer that we have used the heck out of for the past several years around the hacienda. It works great for hauling firewood, brush, rock and tools. We use either our Polaris Ranger or one of the quads to tow it. The Yutrax rig is a lot smaller than your trailer and I have had to add plywood to the bottom as the expanded metal is a little thin there. I think it can carry around 1000 to 1200 pounds. I sure wish we had a Rural King store here in New Mexico!

Good idea, I was thinking of doing that but even though I pride myself on firewood being all the same length it does vary a little lol. So I cut 16" and if I'm a little long I can't fit 3 end to end width ways. Perfectly 16" is 48" and the trailer is 50" but I will try that next time
@EOTG_AK4 жыл бұрын
Would be nice if it had an onboard battery and 12v pump. It's cool that it can run off the tractor remotes but then you can't use the tractor to load it up. 🤷♂️ Definitely good for hand loading firewood though!

About 75% of the time, I leave my backhoe attached to my JD 3320. At the opening scene, I was all excited (alas, in vain) that you had figured out an elegant way to tow the dump trailer by the tractor without having to remove the backhoe.

Nice little trailer...doubt it could fit 1.5 tons of gravel...just not enough room. Be careful with heavier loads...stopping is a real issue. 1.5 tons is not much weight for a truck or even a 30-40 horse tractor, but that thing doesn't have trailer brakes, so the only stopping power will be the tractor/side by side. A dry brake tractor is a death trap with a load behind it. Stay safe and great video!
@OutdoorsWithTheMorgans6 жыл бұрын
Jason Jeffers, I was thinking the same thing but did the math, not heaped at all it's just about 1 cubic yard, crusher run limestone is about 1.6 tons per yard so I think loaded with crusher run it would be full and right at rated capacity
@snazzyusername6 жыл бұрын
Cool! I had 2 ton on my dump truck a few days ago and I thought it was much bigger.

I have been hem hawing different trailers for a while. I keep going back to this particular one since I don't currently have rear-remotes on my tractor, but want them in the future. Actually, I am thinking about getting a 12V Hydraulic Power Pack and mounting to one that way I could drop the trailer with 3point and use a wireless remote to control it. Still one major issue, no one carries this trailer in stock in my area and it will have to be ordered. Though, no one carries anything other than your lawn tractor sized trailers in stock in my area.
@erikn54606 жыл бұрын
Nice trailer, but you shouldn't need to remove the tailgate- It should have been a smaller and better aligned gap between the loading floor and the tailgate. If you should dump sand or grivel, it will leak and spill where you do not want it.
@OutdoorsWithTheMorgans6 жыл бұрын
No if you dump sand and gravel you let it open from the bottom and it will work fine, I opened from top because firewood is large pieces
@danacross34276 жыл бұрын
No stake pockets? What if you wanted to extend the side for lighter loads like straw, hay or wood chips? I like the capacity and functionality of the trailer but a good utility trailer will accommodate many applications. I have been looking for something like this but the commercial trailers that do what I want are too big and expensive for my needs.
@OutdoorsWithTheMorgans6 жыл бұрын
Dana Cross, stake pocket would be useful
@dennisst.germaine34976 жыл бұрын
Dana~I have the same trailer and really would have liked to have had some 'cage' sides for leaf mulch and branches. One comment suggested 'ratchet straps' but it would be nice to have that added height like the DR Versa Trailer option. Still it is a really good trailer, pull mine with a Kubota rtv 1100C, works slick!

Mike, Thanks for the review. Funny that I actually had the trailer in my browser the other day when you brought it up. Any chance you can reverse your side camera on the SxS to show what the suspension does when rolling down the trail? We have a lot of the same situations here in Missouri, but likely a little more rock in the soil. We even have a Rural King, but on the wrong side of the state. I usually hit one when we visit family in Ohio. Keep the videos coming, we really enjoy them. Rob
