I think this is a common misconception, most things in school you aren’t meant to use in real life as to you are meant to know them instead. What I mean by this is they want to know your learning ability, not knowing what it is. For example this can be put into college/jobs because they would like to know if you are qualified to understand what is going on in class. Therefore, most of school isn’t knowing and remembering it for the rest of your life as to it is as understanding what is taught.
