4:05 I ride gas bikes but it's the same for e bikes, brands like pro taper are made from higher quality metals and overall have a better build quality. I was once out for a 3hr ride witb cheap bars on and bent them so bad i couldnt ride straight at any speed, and I couldn't bend them back, even after we got home. So the more expensive brands like pro taper or renthal are just more reliable. But if your willing to take that risk and possibly need to get new bars it's fine.

Pro tip from an avionics tech next time you splice into a wire stager the lengths of wire and where they splice in. this will help with safety, if is electrical tape ever comes off then there will be a much lower chance of the exposed section of the wires touching.

Great vid man but for other 10:16 don’t do this, just put terminal rings on your buck converter and bolt it to the controller
@SaddyDaddy54
@SaddyDaddy54 Ай бұрын
great job very nice build, but for the next time instead of splicing into the the battery lines get some ring terminals and connect them to the the controller with the battery, also instead of using a second battery for the lighting get another stepdown convertor. also these controllers are waterproof so u can mount them outside and you wont be needing to worry aboud them overheating and drilling a fan into the frame which is also allowing water to get to the battery.
@3DRC-707
@3DRC-707 23 күн бұрын
Literally anything but splicing in at the same spot for both and using electric tape. If he cut in at different lengths n used heat shrink I would give him a pass. Ring terminals the way to go tho

You definitely got trolled by those connectors, I’ve never seen connectors that only go together the wrong way. The good news is that battery is probably fine, since it shorted for such a small amount of time. I would’ve done some things differently for this build, the first change I would make is putting a hole somewhere to let the air out that the fan is pushing in, because right now it’s probably only going out through a couple of small holes. Also you could’ve used a 12v step down converter with a 12v fan, then you could also have used it to power the lights and got rid of the tool battery pack.

The extra Makita battery for the lights is overkill. - Buy some rechargeable lights.
@Bobahahaha
@Bobahahaha Ай бұрын
I build E-bikes like this for people and unless they specifically ask for hardwired lights I put some some good quality rechargeable ones on, even if they request them I do try and talk them out of it. Looks a lot cleaner and it’s a lot less messing about and hardwires are more of a pain to sort out for the customer if anything goes wrong, the only extra hardwired feature I add other than the obvious is a key ignition. Same for cooling, I cut little vents using a dremel and just allow natural air to cool the battery and controller. Still a great video, but I always wonder why builders pick hardwired lights over rechargeable ones.

Subscribed, liked, and here's your comment, sir. Thanks for the video! It's good to see people actually showing how a build is done for those of us who don't know how to do everything. Like myself, I can do MOST, but I can't put together a whole bike without worrying about installing something wrong and constantly worrying about killin myself. So again, thanks, good sir. Side note: (Just my opinion) Screaming into the mic is completely unnecessary and almost made me take back my like, sub, and comment. 😊

The reason people spend more in handlebars is because they want their bars to bend instead of snap on a heavy impact. Snapping bars are extremely dangerous and can cause serious injuries.

On your wiring if you went down into the connector there is a release that will let The copper ends slide out of the plastic connector at which point you could slide a piece of hot shrink tubing Do it one by one put them back where they belong much more professional and then to save the short out That way you know your polarities are correct

Ive just built a slightly more powerful hub motor ebike also 52v, but I intend on getting a 72v battery sometime this year for it, as I know it's the way to go. Awesome! I still would pass this up, because hub motors are just a deal killer...not acceptable, but I like to do basic off road stuff with this form factor. What would be really amazing? Someone create that perfect balance between an E-MTB & a Surron. Something that weighs about 80lbs, has mid-drive motor, beefed up drive system, at least 60-72V, full handle throttle (variable). Do that, they would easily explode in popularity. It's gotta "look" like a heavy E-MTB, but have the similar power to weight ratio of a upgraded surron

Is there a way 1) to make it faster top end speed? Around 75+mph? I love speed. 2) a way to regen and ride while it recharges the battery so that you get twice or three times the range because of the regen? It would be great to have something like that happening.
@Bobahahaha
@Bobahahaha Ай бұрын
More voltage and amps to get a higher top speed, Volts x amps= wattage the more watts the higher speed. You can get regen braking but it’s pretty useless, you’d be lucky to get 10% more battery life never mind 2-3 times more. A 72v 40Ah+ battery will last you pretty much all day, the bigger the Ah the longer lasting the battery.

@Bobahahaha
@Bobahahaha Ай бұрын
Most of these high wattage motors come with 2 hall sensors so you have one spare anyway, they’re pretty good at managing heat too, unless you’re hammering it at top speed for miles and miles you should never have issues. You can add hub sinks and ferrofluid if it becomes an issue though.

@Bobahahaha
@Bobahahaha Ай бұрын
@@hiragasaito8651 if the wires are coming off the connector the thing I mentioned won’t help that’s simply for heat management. Your issue is the hall sensor wires aren’t connected good enough, either change the connectors or solder them into place, it will stop them coming loose in rough terrain.

Why link a less powerful battery than what you use in the video?

Because mine was a custom order and they don’t seem to sell that exact one unless you ask them to specifically put in a 200a bms

@ does your bike wheelie with the 200amp sabvoton? Mine wont even try with the 150amp and ive done everything with the parameters to get to the accelerate faster. I think these controllers are designed to keep the front wheel down. I heard the fardriver is much better for wheelies, thought?

I had the 150a on my old enduro and I could pop wheelies at 40mph

This one almost does it too easy. So I haven’t committed to it yet. There is a possibility that it may be your controller specifically. And yes a far-driver controller should send one of theeese to the moon.

@ENDOPRYSMyt I am with you from the first bike I assembled. I am from Iraq and I did as you did. I assembled my bike from Amazon and it has a 3000 watt engine, but I do not know how to share some pictures of it. I appreciate your effort and thank you. I hope you will put the size of the engine leak and the size of the frame leak. Thank you.

Hey man that’s amazing. If you take some videos or photos. You can drop the files into the upload feature on KZbin. Then we can see your bike.
