Down here we regard both Elder & Birch as weeds -- self seed everywhere and grow very quickly. Saw Rich Cornock using a Slaters Hammer to remove staples, so I bought one. Make the job a little easier. Good recovery with that Haylage Bale, and you eluded the cattle too!
@FarmerPАй бұрын
@@trevorsidley7697 Both are “Pioneer” species Trevor, following close on the heels of the ice age melt and retreat, fast growing and maturing with plenty of seed, especially the Birch, its air pollinated and the seeds are easily blown about, it also prefers soils with little competition. I want to keep the trees to provide a soft screen against the hard edges of the buildings and containers, plus Elder apparently has some fly repellent properties… Not sure about that, but it’s another reason to try and retain it 😄

@@MichaelBradley-j6z I could Michael, but that would men having a bunch if prematurely punctured bales in the yard.
@Nick-d6u5eАй бұрын
It will be far better to relay the drain and the covers before concreting. You will really hate any dip coming off the yard whilst carrying bales... As you are thinking of concreting the feed area to the side of the new covered area, how about moving the drain in the yard, further towards the lower end of the feed area. Then it would catch all water of the yard and off the feed area.....
@FarmerPАй бұрын
@@Nick-d6u5e The slope of the entire yard, and entrance levels of the barns above also influence the drain levels Nick. Controlling the direction and flow of water to keep it out of the new covered yard and sheds is all factored in. Dropping the drain gully’s would affect levels up hill too. 🙂👍🏼

those gates aint in great positions now ,i think i would move the main field one down by a few meters, and then use the gained distance to allow you to move the other angled one down, that should give you more room to take the bale trailer down that way ,i recon would be tight to turn in and out of the angled one especially if you leave them both where they are
