I used to write Dutch subtitles and I tried to refrain from doing that too much, unless it was really necessary. In many cases of wordjokes, I'd find a Dutch equivalent and make it into a similar, but new joke. It's nice that KZbinsubtitles, (back when KZbin hadn't removed the function for profits yet) give every translator the room to translate in their own way and style. More freedom in comparison to an "actual" translator job.
