I have a few of these, and must say, the simpler the better. Otherwise it's a pain in the ass to clean. Even with isopropyl alcohol.

Perhaps, but if you don't leave them too long they aren't bad to clean. The one-piece I regret not buying was a piece from Mobius - something very similar to the Ion Matrix OG V1. It was a lot cheaper when Mobius just started and they didn't have a proven name for themselves yet. The brands I have that I think are quality and worth getting Grav Labs, Mobius, Thick Ass Glass, Roots, Helix, Higher Standards, Santa Cruz Shredder, Mini Nail, Blazer… I could list more like the Volcano (Storz & Bickle), etc… but any of these brands you can’t go wrong with.

​@MajinGohan Large bongs suck. The time it takes the smoke to enter the lungs is too long, smoke becomes stale before it is inhaled, giving a harsh hit. Short bongs or bubblers are much more efficient.

Dang and I thought my $33 one footer Disk Percolator and Tree Percolator combo bong was modern, theres all type of new styles they just melt together for a piece i KNOW will be a hassle to clean if used for combustion, these are mine for pure vapor milking.

If you use an ash catcher and empty/clean it often, your main piece will stay pretty clear and clean for quite some time.

Clean your rig. Put in fresh water. Put in a little too much. Then, suck and any water that you bring into your mouth, spit out. Do this process until you are sucking in no more water. That is usually the perfect amount.

They all hit very differently. And they all change how you get high. The more air bubbles, the cooler the smoke is, and the more you can inhale at once. Some blast you with one large hit, while others make you suck through a thin, long opening, which gets the smoke deep, deep down into your lungs.

It works very well! It's a different experience than most percs. It tightens up the air flow and you are forced to inhale deeply to pull the smoke out. It's not difficult, it's just different. And it really gets the smoke to the bottom of your lungs.

After many bongs, I can answer you that. Never more than 1 perc. Because you will get a hard time trying to clean the space between percs. And 1 perc is pretty much all you need. If you want less percolation, go for the simple ones (no percs or very few), easier to clean your hit. If you want heavy percolation, use the disk/honeycomb one, or matrix, showerhead, or inline matrix.... all of them very easy to clean. do not go for frit percs by any means. AVOID AT ALL COSTS 2 percs or the ones like the Tree perc (and similars) which have a tube inside the perc... hard time to clean too.

Fritted discs are the best, followed closely by honeycomb discs (last one shown). The more discs, the better. They are the ones most capable of making your water bubbles "fizzy", which maximizes filtration. All other percs are basically gimmicks, produces less bubbles, and are harder to clean too.
