Thank you Jim for this. My husband and I canoed many of the rivers in BC fifty years ago. I could smell and hear exactly what you did when we watched. Hubby is 77, had 4 strokes, brain surgery from a bleed and while doing ok, can't do much of anything physically except exist. Your calm, even pace and tone of voice (he's pretty hard of hearing) and natural reactions to the environment took him back and he loved going on your journey with you. He is a "mountain man" so to speak and so being stripped of all that matters is not the golden years. Thanks to folks like you on you-tube, you all have enhanced his late years in ways impossible a few years ago. And yours (vids) are the best. And I must say, it is a wonderful thing for wifey to be able to get things done knowing he is content and happy. Heartfelt thank you's to you!

Jim, I had been struggling with certain decisions in my life, and a few weeks ago randomly (or not) came across this video. As a result of watching your journey I was given clarity about what direction I should take in my life, which has provided a much-needed boost to me in moving forward from some difficult circumstances. I don’t know what your spiritual beliefs are, but I feel like coming across your videos was an answer to my prayers. Thank you for being who you are and taking the time and putting in the the immense effort to inspire others. It’s not so much the “adventures” that makes you special, it’s your character. Thanks Jim. Jeff
Me at the beginning of this video: there's no way I'm going to sit here and watch all 4 and a half hours. 4 and a half hours later: WHY ISN'T THERE MORE?! Great video and what a radical trip.

I just finished watching this. Took me several days. The most impressive thing about this is the author's attitude toward all of it. Hard working, easy going, no hero complex. Very nice to see this attitude in a semi-public figure.
@JimBairdAdventurer3 жыл бұрын
Thanks very much, I think that it is my love of nature that always feeds my passion and draws me back. It’s humbling and I think at times I could use a little more of that hero complex attitude as there is always so much more to learn and do that I sometimes feel like I don’t know much and have to remind myself that I have a lot of experience.

"who's gonna watch a 4.5 hr youtube video?" Not I said the cat. By 11 minutes I'd more than had it with all the TV commercial style jumping from scene to scene as in being blinked off, coupled with the over the top excessive hype. What I did before commenting was click the dislike icon from from 489 to 490. I trust that answers the "who" question. Any other questions why I will avoid Jim Baird's amateur adolescent jumped up sh*t? Suggestion: Give the methamphetamines a rest Jimbo.

Thanks so much Jim. I really enjoyed your journey. I needed to get out of the city (Phoenix) for a while and you gave me a great 3 or 4 day adventure. I was in the Yukon, like Dawson, Skagway, Whitehorse and Eagle with my grandparents when I was about 12; fond memories. My Grandfather spent 2 years at Fort Egbert in the Army in Eagle on the Yukon for 2 years back about 1906 and it was the highlight of his life. Now I'm in my 60's. My sister had a youthful adventure at 19 in the Yukon, Kluane area I think, with experienced First Nation guides for a summer about 40 years ago. Wonderful experience. So, I'm looking for folks like you, having adventures in these areas...wishing I could go too, but know it's too late for me but I am grateful that folks like you go out there so I can see what it's like. You did a great job filming with all your gadgets (sorry you lost your camera but glad you recovered your canoe. Yikes! A close call!). You're a fun guy, and knowledgeable, and really courageous to be out remote for so long. I enjoyed every minute of your great videos. Nice job and thank you so much. Your son will be sooooo blessed to get to go camping and adventuring someday with you. Blessings, Dan

Watched this last night all of it, very well done , your extra effort to record , edit and narrate was much appreciated . The trip was epic, as an older guy who has done some solo trips I can relate to the effort, personal concern with safety, on a solo trip. When people would ask me "was I scared" , or "why would I do it by myself" or the big one"what if something happens" my answer was because I can, and I enjoyed the challenge and not being responsible for others just my self. Life is good keep on trucking. Thanks Ron

Thanks so much for this, Jim. Beautifully made. Some great photography, and really well-edited. (Man, you must have a load of material to sift through post-trip! And I can only imagine how multi-camera set-ups and retrievals add to your daily travails)… Your paddling and camping experience is obviously vast and I learn a lot from you and what you share so openly and generously. Your Canadian humility and humanity shine through loud and clear, as well. I’m a kayaker/tripper myself and your videos are just the perfect thing to watch on a snowy January night. Safe paddling.

By fun I mean not fun. Nobody likes the thought of hard work ahead of time. After it's done, looking back, the feeling is worth it. Great videos, thanks for the effort.

Three types of fun. 1. Fun when you do it. 2. Not fun when you do it, but fun when you remember it. 3. Not fun when you do it, and not fun when your ember it. I’d say the swim and self rescue was the only type 3 fun.

This is beyond extraordinary ….skill, common sense, certainly unique entertainment. I enjoyed that information about poplar sunscreen. Something else: thank you again for the documentary aspect…you have done something special…..you have just amalgamated the past with the present…very humbling

What a great video, I couldnt stop watching, im so jealous. You really had a great adventure. What really struck me, is how fresh faced you looked at the end, its almost like you had been living how people are meant to live and it the wilderness had regenerated you. Thanks so much for uploading this video it was extremely interesting and enjoyable to watch.

Well - I just finished watching this video for the 2nd time and was thoroughly entertained throughout. An epic adventure, indeed ! At age 65, I no longer hope to take such an adventure but it sure is fun to experience the vast Canadian wilderness with you, Jim. Thumbs up and subscribed. Keep the faith and stay safe.

@@JimBairdAdventurer In 1963 I rode a motorbike from central California to the Yukon and in Whitehorse we went to the pub where they received their first TV broadcast. There was a big celebration & they now have the boob tube. If we would have had GoPros & KZbin then by now I would have millions of views & be a millionaire. Peace - out.

Thanks Jim. This was a fantastic four hours. Made me remember a 4 hour trip I once took on some river in Colorado, but that was in a rubber raft, and it included a stop for a catered lunch. Different trip, but same memories.. thanks for sharing.

when the only thing to be said is "Bravo!!!" this was AWESOME!!! Just saw the new video where you cut your hand... hope all is as well as can be. Being a cripple in the woods isnt easy but its doable! Ive lived with a spinal cord injury for 14 years and finally got back outdoors about 6 years ago running a trapline and camping. In 1986 I bought a thrashed kayak for 100 bucks in whitehorse, borrowed a jigsaw from the seller, hacked a hole in the top for my backpack, went 1 month and just over 600 miles down the Yukon river. No cameras, no phone, no GPS..... Going back in two years when I retire to do a 1000 miles...... Fun city man

I'm only in this for an hour with FULL expectation to watch the entire thing and I am engrossed in this documentary. This is amazing. Beautiful shots, great video editing, a showing of the human element. Thank you Jim Baird for sharing this, I'm sure there was very much planning for this endeavor alone, but to document this for all to see? I'm incentivized to get out there and enjoy nature to its fullest. Kudo's to you sir. I can't wait to watch the remaining part of this very well done documentary. LIKED and SUBSCRIBED!

This video came recommended. Your presentation is very refreshing. Lot of videos out there where people are like : " I have MY sleeping bag and I have MY tent, MY campfire, MY mosquito screen, MY this, MY that".. You don't do that and it makes me appreciate your videos over many others i've seen. I'm an hour into it.. I'll be happy to watch the rest .. in parts. Thank you for sharing you adventure !
