Kari, I have watched a good number of your videos. I have found them interesting and informative. I am very much a conservationist, so I lean towards "green" death care, but I am not a tree hugger, and I have found you to be very helpful and I appreciate the obvious care you have of the people you work with and the respect for the deceased. I am an organist and choir director so perhaps shared ministry is one of the reasons I feel a connection to you. Thanks for being a good teacher and/or mentor to so many.

Our granddaughter was six months away from being an OBGYN. She decided she wanted to be a forensic scientist. SO she is in her last year of law school. She wants to find out why people died by working COLD cases for police departments. Needless to say I was disappointed in her choice to want to work with the dead and not the living---however it is her choice. She called her grandfather and I to tell us of her change while in her last few weeks of schooling. We are very close to her---we have helped her along with her parents to make sure she has no bills for school. Medical school has been expensive---lol Law school not so much---LOL She will graduate in a few months and has already been offered a job with a coroner's office upon graduation. I LOVE following along with your channel. You are a wonderful person. Bree loves to skydive, she likes a lot of things you do---!!!! When she graduates she will be going to Italy for a few weeks. Our friends own a villa there so she will be staying there for awhile, it is on the beach. Thank you for sharing your personal life with us.

Omg the drain thing, I thought I was the only one!! I haaate them. I became a hospice volunteer after my grandma passed away to be able to be there for the dying when they have nobody as I was the only one with my grandma when she passed. People should have someone there that wants to be when it's time to pass on.

Oh Kari, I just found you a few weeks ago and I am so obsessed! I’m 64 years old and have always been interested in mortuary science. I always kept it to myself so I wouldn’t freak out my peeps! Oh how I wished I had perused your vocation. I confessed to my hubby the other day and he looked at me and said “don’t tell me anything because I don’t want to anything about that”. He wasn’t mean about it but I think I shocked him to death! But now I can watch your videos and get my knowledge from you and Little Miss Funeral and nobody knows!! Hearing you talk about your “14 unknown things” I see we have a lot of things in common especially ORGANIZATION! I am a crafter and have a really nice room that I am constant reorganizing along with my whole house....I spend a lot of time thinking about organization and sometimes I’m so organized that I can’t find something (believe it or not). I scroll thru KZbin looking for your videos but feel I’m missing a lot of them. How can I get more of you? What do you suggest for me to view? I understand if you can’t respond because I’m sure you are busy. Thanks for listening to me. I’m your #1 groupie in Clearwater, Florida. P.S. I’m not fond of the water either. I know Jaws is looking for me. Hugs to my new friend! Sheri

Kari, here's my short take on you. You are very interesting to watch and listen to. Your attractive, and you have that smoothing voice. I'm very interested in the funeral business, but at 69 years young, and married with no children of my own, probably a little late. Money is a consideration. I've been involved with photography, since the early 70's. I've done retail, wholesale and professional photography. I've shot for a professional sports team, as their team photographer. I've also shot for another professional sports team, as a stringer. I've been up in hot air balloons, 3 times. I took flying lessons, and was ready to take my tests for a pilots license, but ran out of money. Single engine fixed wing and gear aircraft. Piper aircraft. I've been a photographer, in the pits and the track, for auto racing. I've done much more. Hope this helps. Thank you, for what you do. I forgot to add, that I taught color and black and white, film developing and printing. Won awards for my photos and printing.

Hi Kari: The last few months I have watched you tube videos instead of regular TV. I learn and enjoy it more than the nonsense on TV. I think I'm up to date on all your videos because you are informative without being morbid. I don't understand why I find information about the funeral industry interesting. You responded to a question regarding my husband and why he looked so different at his viewing. Fact about me: I'm 71, retired and spent most of my adult life going to college while working first in a hospital and then in adult education. Can't think of particular quirks except, driving in the mountains. It scares me because I don't want to fall off. I don't live by any mountains so it isn't an ongoing problem. The other fear I have are mice. They are cute but gross. I've had many a cat bring me one, only to freak out. I'm a grandmother of two boys. My oldest went to heaven almost four years ago and the younger one is 13. I'm sure you know, losing a child or grandchild is something that changes one's life forever. Love your station. Bless you

Hi Kari! Although I’ve never written a comment to you before, I am a true fan.. first, you are just a delightful person. and second, you are so matter of fact about the funeral business and unafraid of answering the most bizarre questions some of us may have! Let’s face it - we are all fascinated by death and dying. I would have made a great funeral director, although embalming is another matter - but I am told I am naturally empathetic, and I have helped what seems like countless friends through the loss of a loved one and with planning services. For one thing, I was the parish administrator at an Episcopal church in San Francisco during the AIDS epidemic where we sometimes conducted four or five funerals a week.. which indirectly brings me to my question(s): We are now all obviously in the midst of this global pandemic, which is bringing back some suppressed memories of the AIDS crisis only on a larger scale. How is this affecting your work? Are you concerned for your personal safety any more than usual? Have you yet noticed an increase in the number of death calls? If, say, a family wants to view their loved one, do you still allow it within the 10 people per gathering and social distancing rules? Has there been any instances that you know of where the funeral director stood at the back and allowed people in as others left so they could have an actual visitation? Also, how long could an embalmed body be kept? Assuming refrigeration, could it theoretically be weeks or months and still be viewable? Your videos make odd thoughts go through my head! FYI, know that I am a charming and formerly handsome 72 year old gay man battling cancer, blessed with a 27 year relationship with the love of my life. I can’t believe that I’m at the point of making pre-arrangements and worrying about my partner - although I’ll tell you that I’m tough and my friends say I’ll outlive them all! Your videos (and life experience) have made it very clear in my own mind about my wishes - sadly for my beloved, there will be no disco balls! Thank you for what you do, and for the way in which you do it! Your not-so-secret admirer, Eric Simpson Neotsu, Oregon

I love animals, especially bunnies. I have 2 now. I eat tacos twice a week or I get grumpy. Ok, here goes. I'm scared to death of anything funeral related. I run if I see a hearse or I get jitters driving by a funeral home. When my parents passed I almost ran trying to pick something for dad. Mom was cremated so I didn't even go in. When I was little (from 3 on) if an aunt passed they would hold me kicking and screaming right up in her face to say goodbye. I also notice Southerners are touchy feely with the loved one. You are so cute and sweet!

Cheapest flights are into Rome, then you can take the high speed train up to Venice and work your way down to Florence, with local trains to Pisa, Lucca and other places in Tuscany, then back to Rome where (after touring more sites than you'll ever have time for...) you can get bus tours to Naples and Pompeii. 2. The first wake/visitation i ever went to, i was about 6 or 7 and it was for some friends of ours dad who had shot himself. It was very strange to witness what everyone was going through. Fascinated ever since. A unique think about me is that I have worked since the age of 5.......my brothers and sisters had a paper route and I would help with it. They took on a second route and it was twice the size of the first one. One Sunday morning, they were all sick, so my mom, dad and I went out to deliver the papers....and I was the ONLY one who knew all the houses.

PS. Please give the ocean - or at least the beach - another chance. It’s where I go to think Deep Thoughts. And, while I’m at it, I’m sorry for the loss of your puppy and you’re right - there will never be another one like him, but take it from someone who knows - every animal has their own distinct personality, and they bring such joy. We’ve lost 3 beloved dogs (well, one of them wasn’t all that beloved by my partner) and one grumpy cat over the years.. oddly enough, it was the cat that broke my heart. But now we have a beautiful black lab, a young pit bull (they get a bad rep) that was found abandoned and who is turning into the sweetest dog we’ve ever had - and another grumpy cat. I can’t imagine life without them - and hope to be reunited with all of them on the Other Side!

Hi Kari I'm from Ontario Canada. I watch all your videos & love all of them. You are such a calm caring person. I'm very courious & interested in everything that is done with a diseased body. I have been told so many hoorror stories & didn't know what to believe. I want to know everything so i can decide what i want done with me when i pass. My daughter married a cuban & i have been to a family funeral there. It's so different compared to here. If the person dies at home the family washes & dresses the body & puts clothes on. The funeral director comes to the house with a plain pine casket & the body goes straight to the funeral home to go on display. The pine box has a lid on it covering the body & glass so you can see the face. Anyone & family come to the funeral home. They bring food for the family as they stay at the funeral home for 24 hours. After that everyone goes to the cemetary, & there is a short service. The bariel is very different. Sometimes a person is on the bottom it is all cement around inside the a slab of wood on top of the bottom pine box. A cement lid goes over the grave & is sealed. If a body has been in the grave for 2 years it can be taken out. The family can be there & take part if they want. There isn't much left of the body because it is always 31-33 degrees in Cuba. There is clothing left, skin in the body that is dried out & most times tons of cockaroch's. They rip the skin off the body & clothing & dispose of it. They wash all the bones & put them in a bag. At the head of the grave is a deep cement box. The bones go in there. They continue to burry family sister's, brother's parents any relative. They continue removing the body after 2 years to make room for another body. All the bones go in the same cement box. If the family doesn't have money they don't have to pay. If you have some money you pay what you can. The family of the deceased maintains that grave. It is all cement above the grave & above the head is a deep cement area to put the bones. The family goes & paints the cement plot avove the ground. A plaque is made & put on top of the cement grave. When you go visit you take real flowers because if you take a nice arrangement of fake flowers people steal them. I found this very interesting & different how they do things. Not to many people are cremated in Cuba. Very very different....

Hi Kari, we have a lot in common. I’m very organized, also will never try cloths on at any store ever! I did Parasailing 3 times at about 600 feet in height. No where nearly as high as you went; but at one time I did want to sky dive! I always wanted children but I have no human babies just my one fur baby Yorkie Terrier (Gia) who is about 6lbs. I have a huge fear of dying a really painful death. I’m vegetarian, been a vegetarian since I’m around 8 years old when it wasn’t popular. I’ve been divorced too. It’s not easy at all but you learn from your mistakes right? 😊 I love love detective shows & podcast, I love forensics, I love anything having to do with after life and dying. Call me weird... I’m unemployed now for about 2 1/2 years but that’s another story... it’s a long winded reason why...I’m ashamed to say but I’m kinda addicted to Bravo. I love the History channel and love watching Travel Channel “Dead Files” anything having to do with Hauntings or Ghosts, Angels, etc. I loved learning more about you, I find you to be the most sweetest sincere person and I admire your choice in career. (wished I could do it too). PS I would love to work in the funeral business myself but I’m pretty sure in NJ you need a duel license and I’m doubtful I’d get through the embalmer part of this very important job. Hope you have a great day! Happy Spring 🌸🌺💐😊🤗 ~Lucille~

Thanks for all the funeral info. My biggest fear are dead people, I’m scared I won’t get the sight of a dead person out of my mind, so I won’t view a dead person claw up. My daughter said. The dead person she seen looked porcelain.

I’m in my mid 50s and feel very immature because of that fear.

Weird thing about me. I’ve been a silent viewer for a while now. This is the first comment I’ve ever made. Also, I’ve never been to funeral where a casket has been used, and through my job in nursing, I’ve attended hundreds of funerals. They have been coffins. I’m from Edinburgh in Scotland 😀

We have lovely countryside in Wales too, such a shame you didn’t have the time to travel down the M4 motorway (Freeway) from London to Wales when you was over in the UK.

Very cool video. I’m the same about trying on clothes. I dreamt of being a funeral director ever since my Gran died when I was 15. My uncle Ken was a funeral director and I found it so fascinating his stories. He has since retired and it still interests me but having a child now w serious special needs makes it just a dream. I do so enjoy your videos and how open and honest you are and how you respond. I find it funny how you are scared of the ocean yet you jump from a plane. I’m terrified of heights but dream of shark diving some day 😀

Oddest fact about me is the way I eat M&Ms. I separate out all the Red, Yellow and Green ones then put them in trios of one of each color so I can eat TRAFFIC LIGHTS!! I like to grocery shop as well because I get satisfaction from the decision making process what's in the cart is there because I chose it not someone else. It may be that while I get the brand I want there is something about a certain container on the shelf I don't like and opt for another one there. I now live with relatives in a multi generation household so very rarely get a chance to do that now.

Hi kari, I’m near Edinburgh Scotland. I am scared of spiders. I hate trying cloths on in shops too. I love to order online shopping. Due to my condition Turner syndrome, I have a obsession with time, if someone says they will come at 2pm and they don’t come till 2:30pm I freak out and worry until they arrive, I am early for everything. I love cats I have 3. Soxx 15, tigger 12 and selina 3. 😚

You are a very complex person, but nice to see you putting it out there. I hope you can overcome some of your fears. Three things I fear are spiders, snakes, and stupid people. Oh, yea I also hate high open spaces. Enough said on that subject but I really enjoyed your UK funeral experience.

Interesting, Thank you 🙏 , for shearing that . I don’t like to go along to trails. Like you , I’m afraid of somebody that can attack me or in animal…. I’m with you on that …! Ocean 🌊, Lakes, if I can’t see what is there . No, no sorry , but no ! Yes , going to the store and trying clothes , not all the time at least that is very very necessary other than that I try at home and I have to shower first. Groceries well I like to pick and choose. So you not alone ….

I love grocery shopping. My son is 22 and I have a bad back. So it's something we do together each week. We listen to an audiobook in the car and take turns choosing the next title. Do you keep a planner or a journal, Kari?

A place I would someday like to visit is Switzerland. I like weird foods, pickled cow tongue, pickled eggs, beef liver, beef hearts with gravy over mashed potatoes, just to name a few. My fear has always been of dying in a car crash. I am 60 yrs old, I am married and have two adult sons. My favorite movie is The Green Mile, I enjoy quietness, reading, going for walks, my fur babies, two dogs and two cats, shopping at thrift stores and garage sales, and watching your videos! :)

It would be interesting to hear from you again how these things have changed in the past two years of "the plague," familial changes, etc. My daughter has been trying to get a job in forensics since she graduated from college a few years ago, hard to get into here in California I guess.

I eat pizza using cutlery and (related to your fear of being on the ocean and not knowing what's down there) the sight of partially sunken or grounded ships freaks me out. I've read up on it and it's known as Submerchanophobia.
