Times haven't changed. Razer and Apple target largely different areas of expertise. Razer is a much more versatile product, it can edit videos and also game. So basically, you can have all the benchmark scores in the world but it proves nothing lol M1 pro has a much higher bandwidth, faster ssd with the neural engine which I believe implements AI to efficiently operate through various tasks, plus the ram speed is about 2x the speed at roughly 6ghz rather than the much more common 3.2ghz clock speeds on the ram. Not to mention all the optimization and efficiency that ARM based chips provide over x86. So basically we need to look at specs and machine performance a little bit differently. When gaming becomes optimized because I believe it would be a sin for developers to not optimize there games for macOS, it will be the nail in the coffin. Hopefully in a year we will s we more AAA games in apple. Others will follow after that. Great video btw! Keep it up

@@kentoyawazaki2625 The fact that Apple is switching to ARM doesn’t mean that the rest of the industry will start a switch. Until 2019, Intel thought ARM is low power and performance. Moreover Apple is almost 10 years ahead with RISC V architecture, so I think we won’t find a decent competitor for years. It would be quite easy to write optimized games for Apple Silicon, but I don’t think developers want for now.

Benchmarks are not useless because they're what we HAVE at the moment. Don't get me wrong, I'm as impressed with the M1 series of SoCs as anyone. But their specs are just like smartphone specs at this point. All that power and nothing to do with them. These new Mac machines are powerful and efficient, sure. But how many games are optimized for them? If you want to game NOW or even in the next 3 or 4 years, you'd have to be in denial if you think that any of Apple's machines are a better deal than the Windows machines in their price range. That games will be optimized for M1 series chips is not a foregone conclusion. It's still a huge if. Believe me, I would be incredibly happy to have a gaming Mac, but clearly Apple isn't interested in it at the moment. The truth is that the OVERWHELMING MAJORITY of PC gamers have low budget Windows machines. They're not part of Apple's target audience. The reason why Razer and other luxury brands and PC components exists for Windows gamers is that games are highly scalable. You have a good machine? Game runs good. You have a great machine? Game runs great. But at the end of the day, you still need that massive consumer base to prop up the gaming industry.

I own both these laptops, I'd say razerblade 14 is the best value computer that razer has released in a while, especially the 3070 model. If you were to build a computer with the same specs as the razer you are probably spending similar money. So in terms of specs I don't think the Macbook 14 is that good of a value. However, I don't think people should consider the Macbook just for the specs. Think about your only spending 2000 dollars, but you are getting the same screen as apples flagship 6000 dollar monitor. If you haven't seen the screen you got to go to an apple store to see it, its like a generational leap. Thats like paying 2000 for the screen and getting the rest of the computer for free. BTW, I know the new Macbook pro uses the same screen as the new iPad pro 12.9 inch, but to my eyes the Macbook pro screen looks better, can some one tell me why that is?

That's a great point. What's crazy is the 14" MacBook has 2,010 dimming zones, the huge XDR display only has 576. So it has almost 4x the dimming zones while being much smaller making blooming a LOT less than the XDR. Technology is improving rather quickly lately. Also from what I've seen the 12.9" has more blooming, which is why the 14" would look better especially in darker scenes. Honestly I like Windows more than Mac, but I primarily use a Mac now because of the hardware. Imagine if the 14" MacBook Pro was actually a windows machine with the same performance/efficiency/specs. But that's just wishful thinking, I doubt even in the next 5 years that a windows machine will come out that check's all the right boxes (Speaker quality, Screen, Performance, Battery, Fan Noise, Instant sleep/on, etc).

Having used both laptops extensively, for me the biggest cons of the RTX 3060 Blade 14 is needing to have it attached to the charger for full performance, and the screen. I think a ton is down to use case and preferences. But if you're going to buy something based on a screen for content consumption the iPad pro I'd imagine would be a better choice. @@canonicator for most people, especially most professionals aside from creative production specialists that are heavily immersed in the mac ecosystem, the shift over from windows to macOS is massive, and the availability of dedicated optimized software is way behind. If I'm going to be using a device every single day for everything I have to do for work and leisure I want it to be as flexible as possible, and macOS just isn't there yet especially with the m1 architecture. With the next couple of iterations of these devices that may change, but we just don't know yet. We also have to consider the chance of hardware failure, almost any windows device will have some level of repairability that Apple has been shying away from historically, regardless of their press releases. Mbp stays cool and runs most of a workday off the battery for these 3d tasks and for the first time in my life I have been reaching for macbook over the pc every day since ive been using it

Razer is still overall more practical because 90-95% of the world’s software is compatible with windows. I’m a windows guy, but these new 14” variants with the m1 pro/max are having exceptional performance. For gaming - stick to a windows laptop. MacBook are more for graphic designer, photo editing, video editing. Not to say you can’t do it all, but it’s true practically is what you get on a windows machine. You will also save $$ and can customize whenever you find convenient on a gaming computer.

Going by TG Pro at 15:35 you're not using the base model for the MBP at all. You're using the 10 core CPU (2 efficiency, 8 performance cores)/ 16 core GPU (2 sets of 8 clusters). So not only is this not the base model but every benchmark score you gave is now completely wrong for the product you're claiming to test.
@CreatedTech
@CreatedTech 3 жыл бұрын
Actually TG Pro displays that information for all models of the M1 Pro MacBooks, regardless of exact CPU/GPU core configuration. I can guarantee you the MacBook in this video was the base model 14". It says so in system report and also on the barcode on the packaging. Don't rely on what TG Pro displays there, it's not fully updated for the new Apple silicon MacBooks.

This is definitely the Base MacBook pro 14 for sure! My MacBook pro 14 with 10CPU/16GPU core got much higher scores. In similar CPU benchmarking my MacBook pro 14 10cpu/16gpu got 20% higher scores and in the GPU benchmarks I got about 10% higher scores than this base MacBook pro 14. I ran all these benchmark on battery power like he did in the video at full brightness. I went from 100% to 68% battery life after about 2hrs of non-stop testing. The MacBook fan was barely noticeable during the test haha compared to the jet engine of the razor.

The Razer sounds like a freaking jet engine through my speakers so I'm sure it's even louder in person. The MacBook will perform the same as the Razer if they were both on battery power and at the same time lasting twice as long. Majority of Intel CPU needs to be plugged if they were to reach full potential in performance. The new MacBook M1 Pro/Max have definitely surpassed Intel in the laptop segment! I got rid of my Dell XPS 9510 i9-11900H +32gb ram+4k screen+RTX 3050ti for the Higher power MacBook pro 14 with 10core CPU/16 core gpu + 16gb ram. MacBook pro 14 $2,500 and Dell XPS 9510 $2,700. They both look great design wise, performance was identical(with XPS plugged in), but the MacBook battery lasted longer than the XPS by double the amount. The XPS fans was on consistently unlike MacBook which was silent. I do Coding/3d rendering/Adobe content creation work.

Thanks for the comparison! Really helped! I am looking to upgrade, coming from a PC, and I'm considering the M1 Pro 14". If I were to upgrade to another Windows PC I'd go for 32GB of RAM, cause I do Unity, mobile and some data science with Python development. But I heard in these Macs 16GB might be enough. Do you think it's worth paying the extra 400 for the 32GB?

Max tech showed that 16Gb works just fine (with less swaps than 32Gb). For apple computers, upgrading parts hurts resell value a lot as you can recoup almost nothing from the upgrades, if you run a business, getting the base model then upgrade every 2 years while claiming taxes is the best way to spend very little on updated hardware
@Anonymous-vh9tc

Same position. I think its too diminishing returns, even more so on these models. I have decided to get the basemodel but with 1tb. Apparently the incedible speed of the ssds almost works as fast as ram cache. Its just too much money to upgrade - if u really need that much power honestly i would rather/be forced to a pro workstation build. Or i would wait for the new imac pro or mac pro. For this kind of money on a m1 max u will probably be able ti buy a base midel mac pro. Its just not worth it. I would buy a basemodel 14 and a 10 bit 32 4k monitor instead. Im going for the 16 though, as i will be on that screen alot next year, going back to uni. For more homeuse i would rather either wait for imac or mac pro and rather invest 3-4k in of those - use a 14 base model until then and then resell it and save up money.

Well the macc goes from 48 to 120 and don't keep 120hz all the time while the PC does. There are video where you see mac consume also around 100w at full load too.
@starshipupdates5217
@starshipupdates5217 2 жыл бұрын
During gaming at 120hz the mac knows to lock it at 120 and not make it adapt. The 100w is for the M1 max not the M1 pro and that’s only if you max out both the gpu and cpu at the same time. The cpu on the pro can consume 30w at 100 percent load. But when gaming a cpu is generally using around 10-30 percent utilisation not 100 so it would be using around 10w. Gpu on the other hand uses half the power of an M1 max chip as it has half the cores so at 100 percent gou utilisatjon it would use 30-40w of power this brings gaming wattage to a total of 40-50w. The charger in the box is more than 60w so you can still gain a charge while gaming.
