So not only is this not the base model but every benchmark score you gave is now completely wrong for the product you're claiming to test.

I own both these laptops, I'd say razerblade 14 is the best value computer that razer has released in a while, especially the 3070 model. If you were to build a computer with the same specs as the razer you are probably spending similar money. So in terms of specs I don't think the Macbook 14 is that good of a value. However, I don't think people should consider the Macbook just for the specs. Think about your only spending 2000 dollars, but you are getting the same screen as apples flagship 6000 dollar monitor. If you haven't seen the screen you got to go to an apple store to see it, its like a generational leap. Thats like paying 2000 for the screen and getting the rest of the computer for free. That's a great point. What's crazy is the 14" MacBook has 2,010 dimming zones, the huge XDR display only has 576. So it has almost 4x the dimming zones while being much smaller making blooming a LOT less than the XDR. Technology is improving rather quickly lately. Also from what I've seen the 12.9" has more blooming, which is why the 14" would look better especially in darker scenes. Honestly I like Windows more than Mac, but I primarily use a Mac now because of the hardware. Imagine if the 14" MacBook Pro was actually a windows machine with the same performance/efficiency/specs. But that's just wishful thinking, I doubt even in the next 5 years that a windows machine will come out that check's all the right boxes (Speaker quality, Screen, Performance, Battery, Fan Noise, Instant sleep/on, etc).

Not to mention all the optimization and efficiency that ARM based chips provide over x86. So basically we need to look at specs and machine performance a little bit differently. Benchmarks are not useless because they're what we HAVE at the moment. Don't get me wrong, I'm as impressed with the M1 series of SoCs as anyone. But their specs are just like smartphone specs at this point. All that power and nothing to do with them. These new Mac machines are powerful and efficient, sure. But how many games are optimized for them? If you want to game NOW or even in the next 3 or 4 years, you'd have to be in denial if you think that any of Apple's machines are a better deal than the Windows machines in their price range. That games will be optimized for M1 series chips is not a foregone conclusion. It's still a huge if. Believe me, I would be incredibly happy to have a gaming Mac, but clearly Apple isn't interested in it at the moment. The truth is that the OVERWHELMING MAJORITY of PC gamers have low budget Windows machines. They're not part of Apple's target audience. The reason why Razer and other luxury brands and PC components exists for Windows gamers is that games are highly scalable. You have a good machine? Game runs good. You have a great machine? Can you run again those tests with the Macbook plugged in? Or there is not much difference between powered and non-powered periods on the Macbook? As we all know Gaming laptops required wall power during gaming, it's meaningless to get it unplugged for tests but it's different when both are plugged in.
@CreatedTech3 жыл бұрын
MacBook performs the same regardless of if it's attached to power or not :) Apple silicon is so efficient that the internal battery is able to provide all the wattage required to drive the chip at 100% performance.

about the removable ssd on the razer vs the macbook, it's true that ssds are consumable, the sooner apple can admit this and start using removable ssds again for their storage the better we will all be, but in their defense, at the very least you're still able to read off of the ssd indefinitely, it's just that you won't be able to write to it anymore, so for example you couldn't reinstall macos or install programs or anything, but you could install programs and move files on an external drive and all of the programs that are already on it would still be usable, so it would still be a usable computer just in a weird way

I have 15"razer blade 3070 and 16" m1 max and have been working with heavy 3d scans in blender on both- mbp can do things as well on just battery that razer needs to be plugged in to do- also razer lliterally burns my lap- gets hot enough to put burn brown marks in some bed sheets. Mbp stays cool and runs most of a workday off the battery for these 3d tasks and for the first time in my life I have been reaching for macbook over the pc every day since ive been using it

Well the macc goes from 48 to 120 and don't keep 120hz all the time while the PC does. There are video where you see mac consume also around 100w at full load too.
@starshipupdates52173 жыл бұрын
During gaming at 120hz the mac knows to lock it at 120 and not make it adapt. The 100w is for the M1 max not the M1 pro and that’s only if you max out both the gpu and cpu at the same time. The cpu on the pro can consume 30w at 100 percent load. But when gaming a cpu is generally using around 10-30 percent utilisation not 100 so it would be using around 10w. Gpu on the other hand uses half the power of an M1 max chip as it has half the cores so at 100 percent gou utilisatjon it would use 30-40w of power this brings gaming wattage to a total of 40-50w. The charger in the box is more than 60w so you can still gain a charge while gaming.

Idk depends what you are after, neither are the perfect do it all machine. unless you really want to play games wherever you want on the fly get the mac. just my 2cents.

you mean well, but the color comparison was a bit all over the place and the final verdict depends if you need true-to-life colors. if you are editing photos, you need the screen to reproduce printed media or average screen colors, and for that razer's matte screens are very good. Granted for video CONSUMPTION the Mac looks better, but that does not mean it is the better panel for color precise work. Also P3 is P3, both screens cover 100% P3.
@CreatedTech3 жыл бұрын
Some misinformation here. Firstly, the matte screen on the Razer is not meant to be “true-to-life” accurate. It won’t give you a super accurate idea of what images will look like on printed media because it’s not designed for that purpose. Secondly, the screen on the RTX 3060 version of the Blade is NOT P3, you have to spend extra and get the RTX 3070 version with 1440p screen.
@DanielRodriguez-fg5ll3 жыл бұрын
@@CreatedTech thanks. maybe I am biased I have the QHD model. What I meant, is printed paper is matte by definition. No glossy screen will give you true-to-life printed colors. but I agree, the true measurement is DeltaE not even coverage of the space. On P3, I was reacting as I thought you said, one covers P3, the other covers wideP3. I think P3 is one and that is it.

The Razer sounds like a freaking jet engine through my speakers so I'm sure it's even louder in person. The MacBook will perform the same as the Razer if they were both on battery power and at the same time lasting twice as long. Majority of Intel CPU needs to be plugged if they were to reach full potential in performance. The new MacBook M1 Pro/Max have definitely surpassed Intel in the laptop segment! I got rid of my Dell XPS 9510 i9-11900H +32gb ram+4k screen+RTX 3050ti for the Higher power MacBook pro 14 with 10core CPU/16 core gpu + 16gb ram. MacBook pro 14 $2,500 and Dell XPS 9510 $2,700. They both look great design wise, performance was identical(with XPS plugged in), but the MacBook battery lasted longer than the XPS by double the amount. The XPS fans was on consistently unlike MacBook which was silent. I do Coding/3d rendering/Adobe content creation work.

Razer is still overall more practical because 90-95% of the world’s software is compatible with windows. I’m a windows guy, but these new 14” variants with the m1 pro/max are having exceptional performance. For gaming - stick to a windows laptop. MacBook are more for graphic designer, photo editing, video editing. Not to say you can’t do it all, but it’s true practically is what you get on a windows machine. You will also save $$ and can customize whenever you find convenient on a gaming computer.

You do not mention the motion clarity of the screen, it's 20hz on paper, but the massive response time of the ProMotion panel makes the screen looks like a bad 60hz display at 120hz. I have compared my M1 Pro 16' screen with my OLED 120hz display, using testufo at 120hz on both screens, the difference in smoothness is huge.
