In this video, you will learn 14 signs, confirmed by science, that show your dog really loves you.
They lean against you
If your dog comes up to you and lean their body weight against you, or perhaps cuddle against your side, they are showing affection. For many dogs, the lean is like a full-body hug. In some cases, dogs lean against you when they are in an unfamiliar environment.
Your dog steals your cloths
You have probably noticed that your dog carries your laundry or shoes around the house. Before getting upset, take a step back and understand why they do this. Dogs see the world mainly through scent. So when they love you, they may steal your clothes to hand on to your smell.
Your dog cuddles up with you after you feed them
A dog who comes to cuddle with you after they have eaten genuinely loves you. They are not looking for treats; they just want to be close to you. Even though you feed them every day, your dog doesn’t just see you as a feeding machine. They love you for more than just their daily meal.
Yawning when you yawn
Dogs yawn for a lot of reasons. They usually do it to relieve stress. Like when you take them to the vet. Or they yawn to curb their enthusiasm when you get out the leash to take them for a walk. But if a dog yawns when you do - it’s actually a form of social bonding. Researchers at the University of Tokyo have shown that dogs yawn contagiously, and dogs who are bonded with their owners are more likely to yawn when their especial humans do. The same study suggests that yawning can be a sign of empathy.
Holding Eye Contact
One of the ways in which dogs show their love is gazing directly into your eyes. According to a research published in the journal of Science, dogs develop strong emotional bonds with humans by staring into our eyes. This non-verbal way of communication increases level of social hormone called oxytocin in both dogs and their owners. Dogs also gaze into your eyes to show their devotion and anticipate your next move. In order to be by your side when you make it.
Freaking out when you return
If your pup’s excitement is uncontainable when you come home, it is a clear sign that they love you. Studies have shown that dogs’ reunion with their beloved owner has a significantly positive effect on them, increasing the level of social hormone oxytocin, and lowering the level of stress hormone cortisol. So if your dog runs around you in the house, jumps from one place to the other, and wags their tail controllably when you get home, it means they are crazy about you.
Your dog raises their eyebrows when they see you
A dog’s love isn’t all about tail wagging, it’s also about facial expressions. Scientists from Japan found that dogs move and wiggle their eyebrows (especially the left brow) when they see someone they love. However, they produce significantly less facial expressions when they are engaging with someone they don’t know.
They wag their tail to the right when you are around
If your dog sees you and starts wagging their tail uncontrollably, it means that your pet is happy. On that note, research has shown tail wagging to the right indicates positive feelings, or that your dog is relaxed.
They give you presents
Unfortunately, your dog can’t get your flowers from a store, instead, they make do with what they have. if your dog really loves you, they will bring you their favorite toy. This is their way of sharing their stuff with you and showing they care. This is because most dogs are possessive of their belongings.
They lick you
More often than not, dogs lick you to show you affection and love. Licking is also a way for canines to bond with family members. For example, mother dogs often lick their puppies to groom them and offer comfort. When your dog licks you, it’s their way of grooming you and showing they care about your wellbeing. And if you have the taste of some yummy treats on your skin, then your pet might have another motive for their licking behavior.
Some dogs show love by herding their owners
If your pooch tries to keep family members from wandering off on their own, they could be displaying herding behavior. Herding is a way of showing affection for the pack.
They want to sleep with you
If you don't allow your canine to sleep in your bed, but they still like to sleep in your bedroom, it is a sign that they love you. In the wild, wolves and dogs naturally sleep huddled with the pack members they trust to protect against predators. So, if your dogs want to sleep with you, it means they see you as a trusted fellow pack member.
They check up on you
If your dog "checks in" on you during a walk, or in a new environment, it's a sign they love you and that they are making sure you're nearby.
Your dog lets you touch their head
Many dogs don’t like being petted on the top of their head because they perceive it as a threat. So if your dog lets you touch the top of their head, enjoys the process and closes its eyes, you are their special one.

So sorry to hear your sad news. Losing your beloved dog is so hard to deal with. My advice is surround yourself with other dogs, register at a dog's home and walk them! You will soon laugh again and all the love you miss giving your dog, won't be wasted. I guarantee doing this will ease the pain of your loss. And one day you will be ready to make one dog's day and give it a loving home❤remember this is what your dog would have wanted for you! Good luck xx

If I go into my parlor to sit and smoke pot and listen to music and read, he insists on laying right next to me on my lap or at my feet even when I let him have the comfy chair. Whenever he sees me getting my shoes on or coat he freaks out and gets SOOOOO excited because he thinks it's time for a walk. I always want to hear something new about them. Just like by letting them bark, I found out the difference in my boyz bark depending on the situation. Ours bark when they hear ones on the TV. Depending on the body language if you can actually see the dog, they will react with the same type of bark. So now when they bark, it has its own language that speaks to me. Hard to describe on a keyboard suffice to say the next time your friend barks if he hears one on TV, pay attention to it. You'll be amazed at what he may teach you.

I'm so sorry, isn't it the worst. Hope you're doing okay. I had to put my dog down a few years ago, she was 17 and had a really massive open wound tumor, the vet said she should have been put down earlier but I'll never forget the way she looked at me just before it happened. part of me feels like I betrayed her. I still haven't fully processed it, I have a reoccurring dream she digs out of where we buried her in the garden. It's just the worst thing about having pets.

I got an Old English Sheepdog from a rescue and she was an amazing dog. She especially did the “herding” thing. There were 3 of us in the household and lots of times one of us would be in the basement tv room, one would be in the living room, and one would be in the kitchen. She would prance back and forth and up and down until she got us all in the tv room. Then she could lay down and rest, watching us all the time.

@@biggertonouncertonthethird76 That's the part I don't even want to read when it comes time to think about them going away. The one on the right side of my avatar, is in diapers right now. He was a rescued dog that was on its way to death. He has megaesophagus. We didn't know at the time and this was our first dog as a couple. Let me tell ya I learned VERY quick, about the condition. Sadly many owners choose to put down their friend instead of working with him. At the time, he was less than 25 pounds and for his body type, he should have been in the 40 pounds area. He is 38 pounds right now. We fattened him up by giving him a pork-loin for twice a day. We'd get the huge pork-loin at Costco and cook it in the BBQ in its own juices. Then we'd dice the loin and put it in a jar in the fridge and feed him until it was all gone when, at which point we'd repeat the whole thing. All this for a full year. I didn't mention the first year where we'd give him s slurry of his dog food, then have to burp him like a baby. We had to feed him with a spoon....like a baby.♥ Now due to his megaesophagus condition, it also affects his back end. He is having a hell of a time to walk, has no muscles left in the back legs, and sleeps most of the time. Since he is not steady on his feet and keeps sliding, I took baby socks and Plasti-Dip'ed the underside. That makes them adhere to the floor, therefore preventing him from sliding. Also due to his condition, he doesn't have the feeling of when he has to poop until it is THERE! What a surprise it was for us to find out!!!! LOL At first, it was once in a blue moon until it became daily. So we opted to put him in diapers. Thank goodness he is good natured cause, he plays along and stands there, all wobbly until I'm done putting it on him. I am pretty good now at initiating a BM cause I researched it. Same thing with his pee shooter. We bring him out and initiate whatever we need to do at that moment. Sorry for the long story. Just wanted to say maybe you can start over and gain karma points? Remember one thing. They are here for a moment in our timeline but we are theirs for their whole timeline. ☺

I can't believe anyone needs to watch this video to know their dogs love them. It's such a deep and powerful feeling of connection that it's virtually impossible to miss it. Yes, they love us. They love us so much, they'd go trough almost anything for us. We have a dog who came to our street as a stray dog, we adopted her because she had nearly killed her, 2 surgeries, months of recovery, and in the years after: 1 surgery for leg-removal, 1 for tumor removal, just few months ago, she managed to get into fight with two huge dogs and then another month of really hard recovery. She's totally crazy, bad-ass and she loves us. Right now, she's enduring harassment by a male-duck. Our late dog, he had bad cancer and in pain, yet his happiest time was with us taking to him and petting him. Dogs are fantastic at all stages of their lives and they really really love us. No doubts about it.

My 3 dogs do almost everything mentioned in this video except giving me present. Very time I leave home for more than 1 hour, they freak out and jump all over me once I return. They sleep as close to my bed as possible every night and wake me up 1 minute before my alarm rings in the morning. I love looking into their eyes, in which all I find is their love and faith in me. An evening a stranger asked me how much for one of my dogs when I was taking a walk the park with them. I replied with no hesitation: I don't trade any of them even you pay me the whole world.

@@borisarcher3160 Honestly watching dogs share toys with each other can be just a precious as having them try to share with you. Last December we brought home a new puppy and our 10 year old rescue dog was a bit territorial at first, but quickly warmed up to his new brother and will start games of tug, and then lose them on purpose so puppy can feel accomplished. Our older dog is 4x the size of our puppy, so we all know that the older dog is letting the baby win. He even looks up a t us with a wagging tail while puppy is playing with whatever toy they were fighting over. Puppy on the other hand, thinks my phone is my chew toy, and will bring me one of his to play with when it’s not near me. I love my fuzzy boys so much lol

My best friend always told me she hated dogs. One day her husband brought home a puppy. Day 1: "She's not coming in the house!" Day 2: "She's in the garage. It was too cold outside." Day 3: She's in the kitchen, The garage was too cold." Day 4: "Guess where the dog is." I replied, "In your bed." She was stunned that I guessed it! Later: "Do you think she remembers how mean I was to her when she first came here? I love her more than my husband." After the dog has passed on, "I’ll never have another dog. My dog was special. There's no other like her." Next year: "We just picked out a puppy! I know he won't be as nice." Years later: "I swear, he's the reincarnation of my last dog! I love him SO much." Me: "Think of all the years you could have had a dog in your life to share its love. You wasted all those years thinking you didn't like them."

I grew up always taking in rescues and the ones no on else wanted. I lost my last rescue 3 years ago and I am still heartbroken. We may have gotten him from the shelter, but it was him who rescued me. I wouldn't be here were it not for him. When he passed he sent me an Angel to help heal me. I was told she was stand offish and not very affectionate at all. She was just waiting for the right person to give her love to because she is 100% loving!

So many of these points really hit home for me. I have a 4 y/o male Morkie. He sleeps with me every night and during my many naps, he's right by my head. Don't even think of entering the bedroom or especially coming up next to me, while I'm in bed. He will go nuts barking at you; if you try to lean down and kiss me, he tries to get in your face and stop you- all the while barking like crazy. We had to put down our previous doggie after 16 yrs and I said I'd never own another. Being alone so much of the time, he is my heart. The day after my husband bought him for me, he went to get one for himself. The guy told him the dogs name was Buddy. Hubby quickly informed him that he'd have to get a new name, since we just got a "Buddy". As far as I'm concerned, if you don't have the love of a faithful dog then you're missing one of the greatest pleasures in life.
