you forgot to mention the main benefit of taking probiotics. The GUT is where our immune system lives. Keep that GUT healthy in terms keeps our immune system strong.

I've been a seat,armrest,tray wiper for years, people rarely cared other than to ask for a while to clean their tray!😀

Thanks got the tips. Helpful. However, aren’t antibiotics are for fighting bacteria, not viruses. At least that’s from my research.

Good point! And I may not have phrased it correctly, but the main point of using Neosporin or even Petroleum Jelly in the nose during flying is to prevent the dehydration inside the lining of the nose due to the dry air in plane. The more moist your nose stays the better it can flush out the germs, whether virus or bacteria. I just figured it couldn't hurt to have another layer of protection from a bacterial infection too 😊

I'm a nurse & I've worn a mask while flying since forever bc I catch EVERYTHING & if I don't wear a mask, I either get sick while I'm on my trip or on my trip home. And I already take Benefiber Prebiotic/Probiotic gummies plus I regularly eat yogurt. I rarely drink alcohol. Being old (60!), sleep is hit or miss bc for some reason, I'm now a human barometer so I will take some Melatonin if the weather's supposed to change or I'm not in my own bed at home. I already drink at least 64 oz of water a day in addition to whatever else I drink.

Just another thought: hand sanitizer doesn't kill gastrointestinal viruses, so washing with soap and water is essential to prevent gastroenteritis. hand sanitizer is useful for other things, so I agree with using that frequently as well.

Viruses do not respond to antibiotics or antibiotic creams so not sure putting neosporin in nose will help that.
@GenxGypsy1968 Жыл бұрын
The idea is help create a barrier that the viruses don't pass through and to keep your nasal passages more moist so the virus can't imbed itself making you sick. 😊

I was thinking the same thing - Xylitol nose spray may have antimicrobial properties (including antiviral), so that may be an option (it also tastes better than saline) :)

Matcha green tea has antioxidants and antibacterial properties which is a good idea for around travel, but I drink it yr round.

I haven't tried the Matcha Green Tea yet, but I do have an Antioxidant Green Tea I like to drink too. I'll have to give the Match a try 😊

Most of the time before I travel, I usually have a scheduled doctor's follow up. While I am there, I ask for a couple of samples of the antibiotic ointment. They are small foil packages they contain maybe a 1/4oz of the cream in them. They take up very little space in your liquids bag, but the TSA can see them so it goes through without issue. Cotton swabs are packed in my toiletry bag since they don't need to go through screening. I also have a couple of extras in my first aid kit as a backup.

I got sick a day after flying. Pretty sure it was the flu. I wonder if a masked airplane would’ve made a difference.
