14-year-old Charged with Murder: Southeast Raleigh High School closed Tuesday after deadly stabbing

There will be no school Tuesday at Southeast Raleigh High School. Students, staff and families will be taking time to process the stabbing that happened there less than 24 hours ago. One student is dead, another is in the hospital and a third is charged with murder.

Totally agree!!! The school also needs to take better action when learning that a student or students is/are being bullied. Hopefully, the judge will look at the totality of the situation and not rushed to sentence him under a capital murder charge. I notice they will tend to do that with black children. A kid was just literally beat to death recently by a group of other kids outside of school. Every time a group of people are beating one person that person's life is in danger. You could argue he shouldn't have had a knife in school but if he was being bullied and no one at the school was doing anything about it then self preservation kicks in. As the old saying goes, I'd rather be judged by twelve than carried by six. This is a clear cut case of self defense in a life or death situation. Maybe he should serve a suspension for the knife but the rest of the charges should be dropped. If not then this is a gross miscarriage of justice.

The schools do nothing for the kids who are bullied in school. There’s another school here who had much alot of similar issues in the late 90s and very early 2000s. Hillside high school. My parents were social workers there and even the principal and officers would get jumped occasionally. Needless to say, the job stressed them out into switching fields.presently it’s not nearly as bad as it used to be though. Durham/raleigh in general had a really rough rep. Things are definitely improving though (not fast enough).

Before knowing what happened, I said that young man was being bullied, and felt the only way to protect himself was to get some weapon. He probably isn't a bad kid. I hope the judge shows mercy to him . I see this type of harsh charge happening more with black minor children. This young boy definitely should not be charged with capital murder knowing he was being bullied by 5 other students. The deceased and the other 4 students that attacked him FIRST should be held accountable too. Although the decedent became a victim, the Bullied student was the FIRST victim. I pray the mother find a lawyer to effectively represent her son in this matter. I pray for healing and comfort for both families. 😢😢😢

This young man chose the wrong way to deal with it (his age/the brain processing,etc is well documented on how these things happen). He took a life & will have consequences. Mom tried to get school involved (you can’t legally keep your child home because of being bullied). I doubt she anticipated it was going to be so extreme. Seen a clip of an 8yr old bully victim committed suicide. Let that sink in… Bullies need harsh punishment; schools need to address it; assure victims they will help&, if they don’t- hold them accountable; the bully parents need to be informed-if they don’t take action to address it- they need to be held accountable… You know who you don’t blame- the victim & their parents…..

Legal self-defense from what I can tell. Did the kid believe he was facing a reasonably assessed imminent risk of great bodily harm or death from the gang of students stomping on him? Could a jury decide beyond a reasonable doubt that wasn't the case. Drop the murder charge. Its unjust.
