Love this drill! So many times you see kids with great technique who hit a lovely cover drive, but have no idea how to hit gaps. Spend too much time hitting balls into nets without actually thinking where they are hitting the ball, and where the field is. I tell kids all the time about trying to face as few dot balls as possible when playing T20s or in the middle and at the end of a 50 over game, especially against spinners where you have more time to place the ball.

He’s young, with more match practice he’ll learn too find them gaps. I’m the exact same. I used to play good shots for none, or 1 but so far after lockdown I’ve learnt to find the gaps. I was averaging 20 last season and now I’m averaging 69.5 just because of that improvement

was a tough gig for teags but for a player of his class, he should be up at that 65-80% atleast when it comes to his dotball percentage, boy is young and has heaps of time to mature, looks like a gun to me

This is a really good video. I really liked how you tried to apply the dot ball pressure on the batsman and made him make decisions based on that.

Top class coaching mate. Its amazing how an 10min sesh has identified his weakness. No hate btw. 48 balls and not a single ball was hit behind square either side, and he also looked to slog after a few dots. You clearly tried to emphasize the importantce of manipulating the ball. As previous videos have showed his a class player for his age, shows maturity & got power as well. Identifying and working on his weaknesses will do wonders for his future.

I reckon the young fellas doing great for just 14! But i reckon he could try being a little looser in the wrists and not worry about power so much and more on the angle at which the ball is coming of the bat if the field is back to nudge it into the gaps + not panic if you're 2 of 15 or 20 because you can always catch up later in the innings!

Very good kid. Still very young and will improve a lot. One thing I don’t understand is the huge trigger movement from leg stump to almost outside off which is making him play balls,that should have been hit thru point or a dab for 4, towards the leg side. He is closing his options on the offside I feel.

Playing against spin should be emphasized more out of Asia. Too much focus on playing pace. One reason why Australia England SA NZ can’t compete in the sub continent
