Haha! Glad you learned something bro. It’s amazing that a drum sample from 60 years ago is still being used in new and different ways! If you wanna make some half-time breaks (snare on the 3rd beat instead of the 2nd and 4th) that 8th slice is very useful. I might make a dubstep tutorial if theres some interest. 😊

This brings back so many good memories, 140 Breaks/Jungle aka Future Jungle. Schoco, D-Audi - Sent for you (love that song), Mshcode, Boomsha, Otter, Rolling Paper, Bay B Kane, Lucas, Galvatron, Aitch, to name but a few and of course the man himself Graish.

Tuning samples. Hit middle C, look at the note tuner gives you and then move the sample on C to the key tuner gives you in the key groups section. Tunes the sample, but keeps the sample untouched. MUST USE SAMPLER NOT SIMPLER.
@djgraish3 ай бұрын
Hi, thanks for your comment. Would you mind explaining what you mean when you say; “tunes the sample but keeps the sample untouched” ?
@sub40hz3 ай бұрын
@@djgraish I found that adjusting the pitch altered the sound of the original sample. So instead, I went into “Zone” and moved the actual sample from Middle C to its real root note on the sampler keyboard. I found the result better.
@djgraish3 ай бұрын
This would be a great technique, but my 808 sample isn’t an exact note it’s almost exactly in between 2 notes, that’s why I had to use detune as well as transpose. I’m not sure how that would work doing the “zone” technique. The great thing about Ableton is that there are multiple ways of doing things so you can find the best way for you!
@sub40hz3 ай бұрын
@@djgraish it derives from old school hardware sampling. Regarding the 808, moving the sample will carry the same tuning. I was basically saying that rather than alter the pitch to the note value via the timer and De tuning, just physically move the original sample note to the actual key, instead of using the detune function.
@Ephemeral-Bean3 ай бұрын
is there actually a difference in the result?
@noThankyou-g5c4 ай бұрын
what is 140 breaks? When I clicked I assumed u just meant breakbeats at 140bpm? But ur making it at 145bpm i tried googling “140 genre” and didn’t get a clear answer either
@djgraish4 ай бұрын
Hi, thanks for your comment. You could call it a subgenre of jungle which is at a slower tempo, around 140 (or 145 in this case) instead of the usual 160 - 175. Some people call it “future jungle” but I never liked that name, especially for tracks that sound the opposite of futuristic!
@defendrr_ru4 ай бұрын
140 is just a popular tempo (or tempo range I guess in this case) that is very closely linked together with the old-school-ish UK sound that people are trying to bring back. There is 140 dubstep music too, just general 140 bass, I've heard garage in 140 too... It's more like an umbrella term than it is a genre.
@noThankyou-g5c4 ай бұрын
@@defendrr_ru got it got it. its funny cause i was just thinking abt trying to make some old school uk dubstep. that was probably the first genre of music that i got into as a kid that wasnt just regular music on the radio. thats cool its making a comeback

@@djgraish very nice tune. It def a jungle track bordering breakbeat with tempo. Not trying to be a diq or nothing but you'd find it hard mixing that tune into the majority of where jungle ends up
