Robert, keep all those bricks. Once they are all broken up, they make great backfill if you ever put French drains around the farmhouse. I love that you will be putting some effort into this glorious porch.

Robert, have been looking forward to more work done on the house, but have understood that the farming this year, your 1st year was also very important and needed to be done, which BTW looks amazing and great when you are growing your own, and then, along with eggs are able to sell them as well. God bless you and your family and the OBF as well. Great Job.

Love watching you fix up an old farm house ❤️I live in one in town it was probably one of the original old farm houses in the area before the town was built up. I believe it was built in 1890 we haven’t done any remolding of it just basic maintenance and of course a new furnace and water heater. New roof some years ago it’s solid brick and so it muffles the outside noise considerably and it’s easy to heat and cool! Love old homes they have so much more character than a new fancy home! Keep doing what you’re doing!!

I agree with you Robert most houses of this age would’ve had the straight lattice under the porch and not the bricked up sections. The bad part is nowadays people put lattice in that is the diagonal which is not historically correct

If you Trim back those 2 bushes in front of the porch it will improve your curb appeal too😂 Can’t wait to see all the other garbage get hauled off too, the place is looking so nice

What a cool old farmhouse!! I bet she is breathing a sigh of relief getting a makeover back to her previous glory! I have an old but goody farmhouse about the same age in texas that I have been working on little by little for past 12 yrs. I just luv them. I did remind under mine on the sides and back with tin with vents and insulated under my floors. I put lattice across the front under my covered porch for ventilation the will run underneath the whole house. I lost all my plumbing 2 yrs ago from historic freeze here so I thought it would be better to give it some protection moving forward plus it keeps critters out! God bless you in your adventures there!! I just found your channel.

Hey y'all. Good to c the production mngr here in this vid. Gotta say I just love the whistling audio. If Daddy wasn't walking around singing his songs, he'd b whistling his old ditties. I sure do miss that. Gotta say Robbie .. when u start poking ur hands & fingers in holes it makes my stomach draw up in knots. I keep waiting on a black widow or some critter to chomp down on ur hand or finger. Note: copperheads love that ivy. My aunt was working in her yard (where she has ivy below her trees) trimming low limbs. A copperhead was in the ivy, bit thru her shoe & she was rushed to er. Luckily only one fang penetrated her shoe & skin but she got very sick. Anywho hate to tell you this but english ivy is listed as a number 1 invasive plant. Prob want to get rid of all that too. My aunt finlly got rid of hers. Sorry I know ur prob weary of learning about invasive plants. Doesn't look like u have too much right now tho. Wow u did get a lot done today. Every lil bit helps periodt .. 😊👌🏼

I have really enjoyed all the videos you made while working on the house. I'd have to say they are my favorite ones, but they do not exclude the war you have waged on the wisteria. An interesting note here, the you tube channel THE PETHERICKS they are busy rescueing and rebuilding an abandoned convent over in France. They recently planted a non invasive variety of wisteria around the front of the building. It looks just like the variety that you have been destroying. It's interesting to see how two different varieties of the same plant can look so much alike.

Boooo! No Wisteria No. Bad Wisteria, get back into the fire devil. There is no such thing as a non invasive wisteria, it must all die. I've watched and helped Robert work on that stuff and it is evil. The stuff should be sent back to hell where it belongs.

Robert, I would suggest prior to rebuilding any brick pillars or underpinning, that you totally remove the English ivy, and dig the roots out. It is as invasive as wisteria. Speaking from experience here. I had ivy hanging from my basement ceiling after it dug through the mortar! Go get a 20 lb bag of sand to kill those hammerhead worms. I have feeling you're going to find more!! Sorry.

I liked that brick facade you removed. Does it make sense to replace it using the removed brick but build it as a feature wall (same height as before) infront of and away from the porch so a full breeze can go all around and under the house. All of those plants and bushes didn't help with the circulation either. Maybe they could be moved to infront of a 'feature red and white brick wall' to go with the gorgeous r&w steps? It sort of keeps the look of the fancy r&w brick front feature. Or maybe you already have a plan that suits you better? After all it is your house. 😊😊👍

Please keep the original look of the old farmhouse. Be careful removing the old falling portion of the porch. It was probably integrated into the main structure and will open up more “inroads” for critters to get into the house and open more than you want exposed to the weather. I can say, an old tin roof is fabulous. My grandparents had a huge house out on the point overlooking the bay and it had tin roofs, old porches with lots of screen doors and free airflow under the house. For air and the dogs on a hot summer day. And fireplaces big enough in the downstairs rooms to literally play in. More than one child at a time. I want to watch what you do for the home because it brings back a lot of positive memories. I’m old and appreciate this gem.
