I use Murphy's Oil Soap for cleaning all wood; especially old wood finishes. Also good for leather and vinyl finishes. The mantel looks to be made of 3 types of wood???

My grandfather was a marble stone cutter Mason. He walked the railroads to the shop for work day in day out . The house remodel in addition to room built on from the big fire . Gillis moved to Macon downtown in a small apartment then Inverness Ave where their only want was to not go to a hospital or old persons home that as for me it was as well .
