The reason why SM wouldn't let him sing was because they thought he couldn't sing high enough. Kpop is an industry that treasures high notes and yes, while they are nice, a lot of artists have beautiful voices that aren't showcase enough just because they are "too low" for their standards. SM is a big criminal in this case, the reason why they pushed Kris into being a rapper was because he "couldn't sing high enough" and because he had a good sense of rhythm. It didn't seem like he wanted to. Has far as I know, Tao is the only one that has any experience in rapping.

Facts, but it's so sad that he's losing his English speaking skills. If u watch his recent English interviews, the 2015 met gala for example, he had a really strong accent and weird pronunciations. I think it's just cause he's been in China for too long that he's forgetting English and Korean. Sm clearly doesn't distribute equal attention to their talents, this maybe one of the reasons Kris left exo because the opportunity that is supposed to be for everyone were only given to few. Take Lay and Xiumin for example, they don't sing as much as Chen and Luhan (or as much as Luhan did) but they will still get singing parts and Lay has rapped in songs (such as promise) plus Tao can easily rap bits of the songs if Kris was given a chance to sing. It's bit like he even had to sing a whole verse or something. However it is clear we disagree and so I doubt there is point arguing about it si perhaps we should just agree to disagree as I'd rather avoid an argument and I'm sorry if my opinion upset you in any way

This makes me cry more than just because everything Kris sings seems to make me cry since he left EXO. It also makes me cry because it really makes you realize that Chanyeol and Tao -probably- have beautiful voices, too (screw that, they *_do_* have beautiful voices, I've heard them sing), but as long as they're in EXO, we won't ever get to hear those beautiful voices. Although I think Chanyeol and Tao actually enjoy rapping, whereas Kris was more forced into it, I'd still like to hear both of them sing more than one line someday. I can't say much for Yeollie (which breaks my heart, since he _is_ my bias and I do want to hear him sing more than anything in the world), but maybe Tao will get that chance in the future. My heart feels so conflicted thinking of all this. But when has it ever not felt this way when it comes to EXO?

My one biggest problem with Kpop music is that the voices are too polished. They pick the most technically skilled group member from a group of the most technically skilled trainees, and the trainees are the most technically skilled auditionees, and THEN they take that super super technical singer and give him or her tons MORE training and autotune on top of it. They sing all the notes and sound clear, but the soul is gone a lot of the time. I do have respect for technical and well-trained singers, but more "rough" voices need to be heard as well. Otherwise you get advertising jingles, not art. Basically this is a long winded way of saying that I adore Kris' voice, and I do miss him from EXO but I'm glad he has the chance to portray himself the way he actually performs.

As I watched, it seems to me that something inside of us moves us along in life and Kris is in a much better situation now. He gets to do what moves him along in life. I bet you that he sits at his computer, looking at his old pictures of his life. He probably tells himself that he got his wish.
