I'm going to regret bringing up an issue about P-Bandai, but the comments have been straight silly. Context matters! ~ For people complaining about the MG Hazel looking a little too simple. Would you rather Bandai have devoted more time and resources (away from standard release kits) to a Premium kit that most people complain are already too expensive/hard to get? If it's not detailed enough for you, then enjoy the fact that you can save your money for something else. P-Bandai isn't supposed to be a showcase of Bandai's best works. It's meant to release more obscure kits for collectors or fans of a particular odd suit. If the kit had been a full release then I'd agree that it's a bit disappointing, but it's not- so take it or leave it! Bandai wasn't forced to release it, and we aren't forced to buy it.

The things on the shoulders are flip up handles for the convertible mode. The hands are supposed to reach up and grasp them.

Because it's basically an old kit. Bandai would likely hit a whole host of problems with print numbers on the Japanese retail market if they released it through standard channels.

I understand what you're trying to say, but Bandai really has no good excuse for not making Hazel a regular release. This is the Gundam MK II Frame right? Yet the only thing reused were the arms and frame. Look at the GM Sniper II. That's a regular release and its the same case, but with the Gundam 2.0 frame. Same goes for the GM Sniper Custom kit. The Hazel has enough new parts and accessories (Even more than GM Sniper II) to warrant a regular release, especially since this is the base Hazel kit which means any variations will also be P-Bandai and nobody wants that.

Eh, the Magic Toys kit just highlights it's own proportion problems to me. The whole suit is bulky when it shouldn't be. I have two of these kits, and I got them for a reasonable price, but I'm still a bit salty that it's a P-Bandai.

I’m sad I wasn’t into gunpla when this kit came out, the hazel tr-1 has very quickly become my favorite gundam ms, just cus it’s got the perfect amount of bulk Hoping for a reprint eventually but I’m not super confident

How do you know just looking at the box if the decals are waterslide or dry transfer vs stickers?

the part/color separation, articulation, and decals really aren't that different from the HGUC kit. so I don't see much point in getting this kit when the HG is almost exactly the same and cheaper.

Mostly just for the 1/100 scale, that was pretty much my reasoning for it and I don't have TOO big a collection so it makes a nice addition.

I concur, and I've reached a point where I can no longer afford decent Master Grades and have to go cheaper via HGs and SD BB Legends/ romance of the 3 kingdoms series (but I customize my stuff, so cheaper old MG kits don't bug me as much).

I reckon I'm gonna just outright cut out the holes in the leg vents rather than painting. Unless too much light gets in there; then I may just paint. Shame that the ankle pistons aren't plated like the Mk II, but at least they kept the braided cords on the back of the legs.

in Japan they just order online, very simple. you can buy them in second-hand stores after release, but they will be marked up

I love this kit. Unfortunately in the review it wasn't panel lined which I feel add to all of the details it has. Mine is a center piece on my shelf. This kit really shines when you put a little bit of time in it. I'm not saying I don't have any complaints about the kit (the v at the crotch and the head colors on the top of the head which require painting) Overall a good kit,not great but if you like advance of zeta or the mark 2 it's a fun kit to build and nice with a little bit of love.

I don't panel line my kits before doing a review for two reasons: 1. the thinner in panel line wash weakens Bandai plastic and can lead to stuff breaking easily. 2. I plan to paint the kit later, so ultimately it would be a big waste of time to panel line it twice.

So about quality of waterslides- since Bandai ones are of higher quality, does that mean you can apply them to bare plastic without Mr. Mark setter/softer? I've never used waterslides before and I only have one chance to get them right on my GM Cannon (North American Front), so I was hoping I might be able to apply them with just the bare minimum water treatment.

usually the adhesive on Bandai's waterslides is pretty good. But if you can, might as well use some Mark Setter to be sure.

This was my first P-bandai in my collection and I gotta say, I'm not a fan of Polycaps and the moment that I saw the plastic material used has PE on it, I'd expect they're polycaps. But from building it, I'm already got hooked. I'm barely an AoZ fan by any means but the stature of the suit alongside its potential mods is something I consider. Although it is limitely articulated and is the same price as an RG Unicorn Banshee Norn, the one thing that got me getting it is the bulk of this suit. Albeit not that tall, its bulk is what got me. The Backpack and especially the Legs was a looker, although admittingly I had a hard time constructing the legs. 😂 Although the colors are reasonably good, I will paint this as to protect the plastic. Overall, it's a mix. It's not that articulate given its frame is from the MkII.0 yet the bulk (again) is what got me buying it. Maybe I should get the Hrududu.

For something named "Premium Bandai" and priced exclusively more expensive, I wish they'd put more effort and details in the kits released with the P-Bandai label. For me the P-Bandai is just a way to milk in more cash from customers who wanted these rare mobile suits. Understandably it's just a logical way of doing business but when only certain parts of a mobile suit (eg weapons/armors) being sold separately as a P-Bandai, that's just damning. That aside, when you consider the HG Origin line having more details and this TR-1 MG being a bit plain and lackluster, is it a matter of being true to the original artworks / media or a case of different mechanical designers? What's the deciding factor here?

I have both. The Magic Toys one has a poorly engineered hip section, it can't even do a slight split without making it squat, which looks very weird in some poses. The elbows can't also bend smoothly and you will have a hard time going for a full bend due to how poorly made the sliding armor mechanism is, its waist virtually can't turn and is also rickety. I have problems with its upper arms, but nothing a little glue can't fix. Bandai's doesn't have problems with those. They are both good in their own ways IMO, but I prefer Bandai's a bit more just because of its overall aesthetics.

BadBatchTGD I personally don't like Magic Toys' proportions and aesthetics so grafting the armor won't do the job for me, the only thing I really like about the Magic Toys one is the panel lines, but even then those panel lines and details are weird and inconsistent in my eyes. That said, I'd just scribe panel lines on the Bandai kit. One of the worst design decisions is that the beam saber handle just plugs on to an exposed peg, even HGs are better than that. Bandai's plugs in to a recess instead.

I dunno, man. It seems incredibly plain, especially for a P-Bandai. And so many stickers just to fill in areas that should be actual moulded details is a deal breaker on a 2017 MG, even if it IS based on another kit. I think I'll be passing on this (and its P-Bandai repaint). Thanks for the review though, dude. I'm off to try and find a Magic Toys Hazel instead. ;)

I noticed that with a lot of P-Bandai kits, the quality is really low end. They reuse a lot of old things, put little effort in the details, so-on and so forth. And some of the things they decide to put out doesn't make sense like their decision to make all those Wing kits exclusive to just P-Bandai. They decide to make 50 different variations of the Exia or Unicorn as standard retail, but won't get into some of the obscure stuff unless it's P-Bandai. The Gundam universe is so huge with many different side stories and a HUGE assortment of mobile suits and armors and weapons. It annoys me that I will probably never see most of what the universe has to offer because of how selective Bandai is.

Jorge Luis Juarez I used to be an OOB builder myself until a few months ago and I gotta say this P-Bandai does suck, if the people just build kits for fun and leave them as is cause they can't afford to paint or just don't have the time, it really sucks this MG didn't have more things going for it. I ordered one before looking at any reviews and was hyped for it, once i decided to watch reviews and got it delivered it I immediately asked for my refund, it wasn't worth the price point on top of more money I have to spend to make it look nice.
