Big thanks for this video Luke. As a longtime Mac user it's frustrating that there aren't more reviews about monitors with high refresh rates and how well they work with a Mac. I've had experiences where I've gone into Apple stores and asked about any issues with driving a high refresh monitor and I either get blank looks or questions like "why would you want to do that". Before I bought my current Dell 27" monitor I didn't know whether my 16-inch MacBook Pro would drive a 1440p monitor at 144hz but it all worked out. Looking at the BenQ monitor now for the office.

I personally own the LG 34WK95U monitor (LG 5K2K) and I really love that thing. The display is so sharp that I would call it a retina display even though it officially isn’t. I love the ultra-wide aspact ratio, P3 colour gamut and the thunderbolt 3 connection.

Surprisingly, to me happened the same thing. Edited a video on an external, rather old screen and then compared it to the Mac display and I realised my colour grading was just absolute trash. Funny coincidence. And very entertaining video, def gonna drop a sub

don't buy a Mac mini pay a little extra and go for an iMac or even better a MacBook. They simply aren't worth the price because you can get the exact same specs on a MacBook or iMac and only pay a hundred or so more for the screen.

I also have been thinking to get a mac mini and for around 1000 and something dollars i get i7 and all the good stuff. while trying to get an iMac with the same good stuff as the mac mini, the iMac price goes all the way to 1700 not including taxes. same with the macbook pro. so i think its a better choice to get a mac mini and a nice monitor like this when we have a low budget. which still we get a powerful mac mini with the lowest possible budget(which still is high but oh well, that's what apple is worth)

@@fredisandoval60 yeah but if you want a decent monitor (with a iMac quality display) you will definitely pay more than 700 extra bucks on top of the 1000 for the iMac. The point is you pay about 300-700 extra for a display.

Great video, Luke. It seems like a really good monitor for people wanting to do Media-related work. A bit off topic, but I managed to recently overclock my Late-2012 21.5" Thin-edge iMac screen to 90hz in Windows 10 and it looks incredible. No stuttering or anything.

I have the LG 27GL850 and 165 hz Lenovo Y27 Q20 (Even more amazing), but this Benq monitor looks pretty dam cool! I love the remote and built in speakers, and that light sensor thing is pretty cool. The only thing I like better about my LG monitor is something you mentioned in the video, that the settings are way easier to change on the LG. It has an intuitive little knob on the bottom that controls everything, while the Lenovo has multiple old-school buttons on the front that are anything but intuitive. I got to this video because my wife has a 27” curved Samsung VA 1440p 144hz 3ms display, but I can’t get past 72hz from her 13” 2019 Macbook Pro

@Luke Miani A little more "show" than "tell" would've been pretty helpful in this case. How does macOS look and feel with 144 Hz? You can capture it (for comparison) with a high speed camera. Personally I'd prefer higher resolution over higher refresh rate (not below 60 Hz of course!) regarding macOS, but that may be personal preference. E.g. 4k @ 27" is "good enough" but I start to notice the difference to 5k when it comes to e.g. font sharpness.

How where you able to get the 144? I have an ultra wide that is capable of 75hz but I only able to output 60hz. I try getting display port 1.4 and no luck....

YES! You read my mind Luke. We need another Apple Display dialing back the XDR to HDR, leaving TrueTone, but adding ProMotion to a say 27" display. And of course add a built-in panel to both the 13" and 16" MacBook Pros with ProMotion. I also hate having to get a gaming display just to get a native high refresh rate of 120Hz with HDR and a TrueTone like dynamic color temp.

Nice review! How's the text clarity on that monitor when connecting the MBP 16? good enough or the same as texts seen on the MBP 16's screen? I'm deciding on this monitor so thanks for the advice! I have 163 psi screen and still don't have this "clarity"... Anyway, at least it doesn't look blurry, 109 psi is way too little. If you use Windows, it's fine due to the way it draws fonts, but on Mac, they look like crap.
