if that's what you want, you need to be looking at dedicated drawing tablets. They're still portable screens, after all, just without the speakers or HDMI or decent refresh rates (okay maybe for the occasional youtube vud, but terrible for anything faster)

Eh!? Are you mistaking the perspective here, the screen isn't poking out, there is a case behind acting as the stand that disappears due to the angle but the glass isn't popped out of the screen.

I'm currently using a Nexigo 16" 144hz 1600P monitor and nothing else I've tried has come close to its screen and build quality. It also has full sized hdmi input which is nice, although for full power and brightness it has to be plugged in. This Minisforum monitor does look nice for the price, however, especially with it being a touch screen.

Nice. I got two portable monitors rn. One is a 17" 1440p 144Hz and the other is an 18" 1600p 144Hz. Both are super nice color saturated IPS displays. The 17" could do 1440p 120Hz on my XSX or XSS as some don't. 1600p is only great for PC usage tho and not so much for consoles. This new monitor is nice and I might get it due to the touchscreen. 15.6" is a nice portable size as well. I did have a similar monitor in the past at 1440p 120Hz or 144Hz but it wasn't a touchscreen. It was around the same price or so as well.

I use wi-fi and draw on photoshop without any noticeable latency. the app is "SuperDisplay" - free trial of three days, but I was so impressed that I bought it. i am NOT sponsored by them, i tried to pirate it first but i couldn't find any pirateable forms.

@@lilsamreactions507 i left a comment before but sometimes my comments get removed, and it's really annoying. the method that i use is one app with two modalities - USB-wired, and over wi-fi. the app is called SuperDisplay. I am NOT sponsored by them, i would say so if i was. they have a free 3-day trial. i tried to pirate it but i was unable to do so, and the application works so well that i was fine paying for it. i don't use it over USB, i use it over wi-fi, like to draw on photoshop with the stylus. i have not noticed any latency this way. also you should be able to use the steam app and stream your explorer.exe, but I'm not sure how well supported it will be. there's a more manual way to do what the app SuperDisplay does. there are some programs (idk them off the top of my head, maybe Virtual Display) or something like that, where you can manually set up a secondary display in Windows. then you can use Moonshine/Sunshine to stream that. but idk about stylus support for it.

Portable monitors with those specs existed for years at this point - look at something like Zeuslap P16KT, it's even 16:10. Minisforum just got better color accuracy as it seems.

However the only thing that this is inferior to my other budget portable monitors is it needs to be plugged to the power 99% of the time with the exception of laptops/pc. For example other monitor can power up and play my Nintendo switch and iPhone with a single usb c cable. This monitor must also be connected with its power cable and the usb c as well. Extra cumbersome here. Other than that the touch and the color is great!

@@progressivehouseclusive3835 yes, I’m 8/10 satisfied. Color and image is great. The single cable doesn’t work on phone and game consoles like the switch and iPhone. In addition to the usbc cable the monitor must also connect to the power other wise it won’t work. This is surprisingly odd where my other cheaper portable monitors works with a just single cable. The only thing that works with a single usb c cable is my laptop. The cover stand is not sturdy and no matter how i adjust it i feel scare that it could fall if i touch it.😅

I would recommend not to use rog ally directly with usb c , better to use dock station as rog ally don't support thunderbolt. I lost my usb c port by using directly to it.

Someone correct me if wrong here, but Android phones can only put out 60 hz to an external monitor, so the 144 hz is wasted. I also understand they can not do freesync on external monitors. That is important to know because even if you have an awesome phone, you wont be able to enjoy a framerate over 60 and VRR wont provide you a benefit either.

If mirroring your phone it will give you 144Hz. If doing DeX on Samsung phones it's a different story. Usually it will take it down to 1080p if it isn't a 4K display. The refresh rate is 60Hz but I believe some devices could do 120Hz. Like a tablet vs a phone.

@@volcalstone Yeah, I have heard discussions out there, but it seems like a guessing game at best. I have a red magic 9 pro and I cannot get it to deliver over 60hz to an external display. In any case, its nothing like a PC, where you just connect and then select the refresh rate you want. I wish some of these reviewers would comment on it, as none of them bring it up.

On DeX I'm not able to get anything beyond 60Hz but I'm only testing on one of my displays right now. Yeah I wish these KZbinrs would tell us what the resolution and refresh rate are on the monitor when using a phone or tablet.

@@progressivehouseclusive3835 I didn’t really do much aside from attach to a laptop in place of a Lenovo portable screen. Brightness seemed good and of course it had better resolution. I did not dig into more features after realizing the stand would not work. If they could mimic the chassis/stand design of the Dell 14” portable or Lenovo 14” and 15” models, then it would be perfect. Or even the Surface design with some sort of kickstand. I was disappointed to have to return because I have been on the lookout for higher res portable monitors and would have purchased about 175 of them if they worked out.

Nothing ground breaking about this device, i am ok with my 1080p 15in oled 60hz and my 4k oled 15in 60hz, we are living in a generation of barley getting games running in 4k 60hz why bother with 120 and 144hz displays?? we need game developers to optmize their content in 2024 and beyond to support the devices we already own.

Here I am with a UPERFECT 16" 2K 120Hz IPS HDR FreeSync portable monitor I got for $137.74 after taxes back in December. Also, I have a Galaxy S24 Ultra, and the problem with Samsung Dex, is that you can't get over 60Hz on any monitor. Also, passthrough using docking stations doesn't go over 1080P, either. So, if you're using Samsung Dex, you'll want a Bluetooth (not 2.4GHz) keyboard, mouse, and Xbox One controller (or similar). You'll also only be playing remote Steam or remote Xbox games (basically cloud gaming), unless you're playing Android games.

@@JC-ft4ri You need to power it with a USB-C cable. If you hook it up to a phone, it'll turn on, but it'll be dim. If you want the full potential, you'll need to power it up with another USB-C cable. I don't know how much it actually needs, I typically just use up to 100W source.

@@EbonKim I found my best true portable monitor: NexPad. My LG v60, Galaxy Note 10 & 20 can power the monitor and have full touchscreen only using the supplied cable. You can connect another usb-c to extend phone batter, but not needed for touchscreen. So for me it's truly portable.
