Its a lovely sideboard with a nice mirror and shelf bit that goes on top - dont remember seeing it in Hilda"s but then again a nice bit like that would go in the front room - we only saw Hilda"s front room when the Hardmans lived there them having came from a big house they used their front room - the only other front room we saw i think was Elsie Tanners when it was getting turned into a bedroom for Marrion she had a china cabinet with dishes in it - Minnie Caldwells front room would have been an Aladins cave of lovely old nic-nacs but alas we never got to see it

Look at all the women attracted to Ray, Unfortunately high fashion like that really dates something, the rest of the male cast hair styles wouldn't look at of place now, but back then they were portraying ordinary uninterested In fashion northern types. Jerry here would have been late 20s, Ernest late 30s, yet both seemed more middle aged, Ernest could have past for 60

Now it makes sense why Ma Hopkins was asking Minnie about the name Preston.. sneaky! She's got hold of Gordon's birth certificate, probably when clearing out Maggie Clegg's sideboard - now she knows Betty's the real mother!
